the protip on the dryads is they're essentially the basic catalyst for fusion throughout the ENTIRE game. you're generally supposed to fuse what were the "old" high levels with them to make new high levels more or less. it's really insane and we played this game for over 50 hours and did not figure that out till we were done lol.

Due to the franchise's origins in Digital Devil Story, I find myself sometimes referring to it as Digital Devil instead of Goddess Reborn (the literal translation of Megami Tensei).
Thankfully Devil Summoner (the Sega Saturn original, whose PSP port I just finished) & Soul Hackers has a waaaaay higher magnetite limit but still, I'm not a fan of the magnetite resource management system. At least in later games like the above mentioned, they're much less of a hassle as you pointed out.
I just lost it at Yu (Persona 4 MC) & Kanye West jamming to the final boss theme of MT1. BEST old school Atlus boss theme ever! Loove this retro review of the Kyujakku updated version of the very VERY FIRST Negami Tensei. Can't wait to give it my Nakajima try on my laptop. Oh, and I really can't wait for your honest to **** review of MT2. ;)

I´ve only played Persona 4, P3 and SMT Nocturne, and i always end going for a full strenght build, idk why, but always seems to be the best strategy, and its sound like is the same shit here lol 3. (6:10) The final boss theme sounds like Ill Face Myself from P4 lol 4. This video is great! keep it up dude.
The low level treant dood is hilarious looking in his 8bit Famicom sprite with his wide open lips! I had a similar common fusion result in Hotel Goumaden in Devil Summoner 1 towards late game with Lv 39 Terrorist constantly popping up. Ugh! And these two games were 8 years apart. I really appreciate how much the core SMT game mechanics like demon fusion have evolved the past 25 years, like for reals!
The Famicom version of the first game is brutal, fucking passwords man. The minotaur from SMT IV has nothing on the motherfucker in this version of the game. Megami Tensei II on the other hand is EXCELLENT however, one of the best in the entire series even after all this time
5:30 i have to disagree here. for my playthrough at least, magic destroys many random encounters (especially hama skills) and made dungeon crawling much more tolerable. yumiko in particular did from 50-300+ damage with the hanmahan skill
0:38 Wait didn't youtube remove links like that a couple years ago? I think light magic is super useful against ghost and foul enemies. I also remember all target zio spells being useful against the succubi in Mazurika but I'm not totally sure, might be mixing it a bit with mtII. Also, you don't actually need to get the mcguffins and beat the bosses. You could techincally just skip to Lucifer. This is because all of the bosses except him are off the track and not in your way, not to mention that the mcguffins that help with the bosses just help you, but aren't essential. Minotaur and Medusa are very helpful to beat since they give you access to the old save guy. But everyone else are extras, and Hecate and Set require active effort for you to even find them. Would you mind saying what motivated you to grind?

Minmaxing is usually the best option for early megatens anyway so I'm not sure that depends on how complete you're trying to be about your playthrough. I did try to fill in every corner of every floor, so maybe you can attribute me being strong enough to that. But if you're going blind you're probably going to wander around a lot before you find the key areas anyway.
