In all fairness while SMT4 holds up in terms of gameplay and quality and whatnot its story is kind of a retread of plot points that were in SMT 1 and 2.

SMT IV is great in loads of ways, but I do think it's consciously throwing back to the older games (things like who the early bosses are for example!) and attempting to be a modernisation and refinement of the old-school SMT formula. As weird as it is to see someone view IV rather than II as the duff one if you're solely talking about development and progression of the themes/messages it doesn't do that much new (beyond The White I guess). But tbh given it's not setting out to do that I think anyone going further than the video and negatively judging it overall is being silly.
Great video man, just one correction. The guns make more damage on demons with phisical bodies and the sword damage more the ethereal ones. This aside, it's just perfect.

One of the best old school Megaten games. Really liked the over world character and map too. I dislike the diamond marker from most games.. Wish the labyrinth maze design was changed as well. These feel like outdated mechanics that were used due to original limitations in the capability and they just stuck around.
Please please please for the mother of all sacred influential Famicom games, review Mother 1, my all time favorite Famicom game. And yes, this ground breaking revolutionary 1990 overlooked gem is the quintessential proto-SHIN MT (zero) game and it totally brings to mind (Blasted) Tokyo from SMT4 to me moreso than any other popular SMT title. Very very fascinating oddity this brilliant game was.
What? Nocturne didn't reinvent alignments. Reasons mix things up, but it's very clear that Shijima=law, Yosuga=chaos, and Freedom=Neutral. You could say that Yosuga is more authoritarian than regular chaos, and there's no analogue to Musubi. But that's about it.

Hey thanks for your concern, im doing alright. life just took me down a crazy path, and led me to do some existential reflection on what i wanted to do with my time on earth. I spent a few years making videos talking about things i loved, but i felt like it wasn't really a rewarding creative outlet for myself. So I decided i wanted to learn coding, and improve my artwork to create my own game that is an amalgam of all the things i love such as megaten. I felt personally that creating something i can call my own that pays homage to the media i enjoy would be a better way to show my appreciation to these series. and hopefully be something that my fans from this era of my life would enjoy as well as myself. Maybe one day ill start making videos again as i do love gushing about my hyperfixations lol, but alas im but one person, with a limited amount of time, who also works a full time job unrelated to my creative pursuits. it does fill me with joy that some people still care enough to drop a comment on a 3 year old video, so thank you. if you would like to follow the admittedly slow development process of my game, and what other nonsense im up to you can find me on my new x/twitter account @NicksArtCorner

Looks like it’s the best mt/smt game. The graphics here look better than all 32bit smt games and it’s amazing, just look at devil summoner on Saturn and compare. There a lot smt games that have 3D dungeons but not animated enemies and here the dungeons look better than the ugly 3D ones and all the enemies are animated. And for me it has better story than all megami tensei games hands down, and the most innovative and by far.
The best NES RPG is Dragon Quest III or Dragon Quest IV. Also I would say that Wizardry was actually more popular than Megami Tensei with its NES release in Japan.
You should review more of the Megami Tensei games, everyone has talked about the Mother Series. If you are gonna review them, either come with a new take or don't bother. Also you should vacuum your floor, a clean space leads to a clean mind.
