- In this video, we are comparing my custom blue Galaxy S22 Ultra vs iPhone 13 Pro Max Alpine Green and discussing which phone should you buy? Both of these phones are excellent in their own right. The Galaxy S22 Ultra packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with up to 12GB of RAM. It runs Android 12 and One UI 4.1 which brings several advance features. Not to mention, it has the S Pen and Dex support which opens up tons of potential for getting things done and multi tasking. For battery life, the Samsung S22 Ultra packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 45w fast charging. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is running the A15 Bionic Chip with 6GB of RAM. It runs iOS 15 which also brings many features and enhancements. It has some of the best cameras on any smartphone. In fact, the iPhone 13 Pro Max can record 4K Prores video which is insane. In terms of the battery, it packs a 4,300 mAh battery that can achieve great results even if the fast charging isn't all that fast. Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra I'm using right now I have the 1TB version and I went with the burgundy color very nice 😍 such amazing phone I was using Samsung Galaxy s20 128 gigs that was my phone for at least 4 years straight so continuing on with my new S22 ultra I love it 😍
Ultra photos look much better and more detailed than those on iphone... Even videos. That's my view...

I really want to get this phone but I'm slightly concerned about the battery life because I see so many variations and I live in Europe so I will be getting the exynos version. How's your battery life?

@@tacct1kk715 Battery life is about the same in Exynos and Snapdragon. The Snapdragon can run faster at max load but then get's hotter and drains more power than the exynos. But in normal day use and in heavy gaming, you won't notice a difference. Most of the hate against this years exynos comes from Software and optimization problems and this is something that will get fixed over time.
@@Bronyboiiiii yeah that sounds good I plan to buy the phone soon if you don't mind which storage do you think is best I'm planning on getting the 256 version I don't take many photos on my current phone but I feel that will change and I use 80/128 on my current iPhone 7 plus. I understand that the software take about 30 gb so I can expect to have around 150 or so gb available is that good? considering I'll be using the phone for a a couple years if the s23 ultra next year isn't super compelling

I’ve been an android user for a long time and I love the software updates. Example when I had my note 20 ultra I allowed me to dual record using rear and front camera at the same time . Or when using the camera you can flick the screen and it would go from selfie to regular camera. I love that it had Picture in Picture when using RUclips . But I just switched to iPhone 13 pro to get away from android for a while but I miss all the features I was able to do on my note 20 :/
Hi Jerome, Does the phone heat up after normal usage like making videos, clicking photos and playing videos on youtube or any OTT?

@@anuraggupta2240 Hi, for the 2 months I've been using the phone, there's only a slight heat up when I record or edit videos or watch YT. The heating up often occurs when I play games. But still the performance of the phone is smooth :)

Yes, both iPhone and Galaxy phones are fine. Battery life and benchmark king goes to the iPhone. Whoopi. I just do not enjoy iOS and what about the bugs in the iOS updates? I have to admit it, the Samsung is the more fun.
Honestly as an android user, one of the main reasons why i don't switch to IOS is because of the lack of a fingerprint scanner...

Been there, done that, Face ID works so much better, with a screen protector my S22U’s fingerprint sensor is damn near useless

@David Welsh I've started taking more photos since I had kids. It might not get updates after next year, but you have to let you money last. I bought the s22 ultra and I didn't feel it was much quicker than the s10.
I like how you went for the reverse of the heavily marketed colours for each device on the video - the 13 Pro had Sierra Blue as its main colour whereas the S22U had Burgundy + Green as its new base range colours for the device. Nice fun detail!

S22.Ultra is an absolute beast. Best display I've ever seen on any smart phone. I'm also really enjoying my switch from iOS, took a few weeks and some effort to adapt but now I'm just hooked. No regrets and I don't see myself ever going back to Apple . Great video dude.
Do you miss iMessage and sending clear hd videos through iMessage or are you overlooking that because the S22 ultra is just that good?
@@bigdrews4360 not missing iMessage at all to be honest. After so many years of iPhones I rarely send or received videos. My normal videos I shot was family stuff I share them locally. This whole Blue vs Green bubble is the dumbest childish thing I ever heard 😒. After a good month using new hardware and software I highly enjoying it. I could keep going dude, best damn display hands down, fantastic cameras and Android 12 (One UI 4.1) run buttery smooth. Zero regrets, I'm keeping this phone for at 2-3 years and best believe my next phone will be a Samsung flag ship. Very very impressed by Samsung on this. My only complaint would be poor battery performance by any means it's no deal breaker for me I'm averaging a solid 6-7 of screen on time. Once the phone learns your pattern usage it gets better that alone takes a good 2-3 weeks. And 6-7 hours is more than plenty for my daily use. Sorry about this long reply.

@@bigdrews4360 iPhone is a fantastic device don't get me wrong, but the fact that Apple restricts it from being even better is overwhelming (like you said boring) simple widgets on a home screen is not good enough. I'm spoiled by customization on my S22 Ultra it's a joy to use and I'm using Samsung's stock One UI software you could take even further with GoodLock. I honestly feel like this phone (s22 ultra) really belongs to me cause I'm using it exactly how I please. My advice dude if your gonna switch over be patient and put in some effort getting to your way around the interface and functions and menus. It's another learning curve. The first 2 weeks for me was a little tough. But by the 3rd week I was absolutely loving everything about this phone and One UI. Also don't expect anything on here to function like iOS, Android does the same tasks but different. Once you learned things and get familiar I think your gonna enjoy it.
@@bigdrews4360 what they don't tell you is on the z fold 3/S22 line you can choose your text color based on your wallpaper (called color palette) it also can change the app icon color & the color theme. It's fucking awesome. There is no green messages for SMS. Its just the color you choose and also applies when texting iphones.
Apple does that is a way to shame androids imo
I also tried both, but I sent the 13 pro max back. S22u just does so much more and of all the pictures I took, it always seemed to outperform the iPhone atv every level.

I have both, but I'm keeping both, love DEX, S-Pen, and the 100X Zoom, but my 13ProMax with Filmic Pro installed, completely destroys my S21 Ultra in video, also games are way smoother, and run better, but I love Samsung, I grew up with their phones... Another crazy thing, I also own the LG V-60, and it's Manual video is actually a little better than my S22 Ultra...

I had the s22u and its goated but i had to return it cause constantly felt like i was gonna break it the iphone 13 pro max feels a bit better but it doesnt have a space zoom with a good clear camera

Facts bro, I have both and the IPhone to me is better at video recording, app optimization and iMessage/FT. Aside from that my S22 Ultra makes my IPhone feel significantly outdated in every other aspect. It’s not even close when in comes to versatility, my S22 Ultra destroys the iPhone lol

I wanted to have the s22 ultra in blue but it was online exclusive only so i didn't have time to wait for them to deliver, so i went with the green and it looks beautiful ❤️ also the performance is top notch.

I really think this is the first time ever that your personal preference matters more than which phone is better. Both of these are VERY solid choices. Although I’d like to try Samsung, I can free upgrades every 4 years so I’m able to skip generations. Just went from the X to the 13 pro max this week

I switched from apple to android and my first thought was freedom. Not to mention IOS just got boring and the android platform is fast more enjoyable. You can customize the phone all day long w android and I couldn't do that to this level w apple.

I have the s22 ultra (coming from the s10+) and love it. This is my 6th samsung phone so I am no stranger to their UI. I also have an iphone 11 pro max, my second iphone. Love that phone too but I want to upgrade to the 14 pro max when it comes out.
Nice content. With respect to the issue of screen protector for the curved screen, actually, there are many screen protectors out there that work fine. I think they make use of TPU. I use IMBZBK screen protector and it's so cool, it curves with the edges. I am not sure I'd have loved this phone this much or sold on it despite not having external SD card slot, if it hadn't been made as a curved screen.

Samsung S22 Ultra all the way. The pro-video mode is definitely my go to when shooting video. Jonathan I would love to see a tutorial on astral shots with each phone. I know there's not much in mountains down there in the Sunshine State but I'm sure you may be able to find some dark areas and give this a try.

@@Arrakiss20Exaggeration. It is indeed better, but only marginally. I have both and when I compare, they're pretty much similar except the iPhone's being slightly smoother and slightly more detailed. Both are good choices, with the iPhone leading in certain aspects.

Love the video and far comparison. I own both these devices unlocked and so far im really loving the s22ultra more because of the display, portrait and pro camera modes, and a bit more freedom. Since i am a windows user the samsung is much easier for file transfers and the one drive with samsung and windows works flawless. While apples eco system is better if you have all of the their products, samsung isnt far behind and no slouch considering they dont own android but if they did or had their own os it would be even better. Both devices are smooth. Samsung getting at least 4 years updates on devices and 5 years security is awesome.

Nice video. But are you sure that iPhone camera sensor is bigger? From what I've read, iPhone 13 Pro Max has a main sensor of 1/1.65" whereas S22 Ultra has 1/1.33" main sensor. So S22 Ultra has a bigger sensor. The iPhone does have a wider aperture lens though (f1.5 vs f1.8).

Both are best in class. But if you're already committed to an ecosystem stick with the best phone in that you can buy.
My S22 Ultra is finally getting delivered next week after preordering and having a bunch of issues with orders being delayed or cancelled. The level of customization with Bixby Routines and Good Lock really got my attention.

Both are great, but to be honest, the S22 Ultra is a step above Iphone, the screen is better, it's more versatile with the S pen, and the camera is just better...

Have both, the S22 is more feature rich, but the overall os isn’t as smooth, and the battery in real world use is dies about 3-4 hours sooner than my 13 pro max

Note 20 Ultra over both of these. If I had to really choose one, then it'll have to be the s22 Ultra. The S-pen is the useful thing in a portable devices that we carry with us daily.

Just upgrade from a Xaomi Mi 9T to an S22 Ultra and the difference is immense. I'm quite sure I'm only using the phone for 10% of what it is capable of but damn its snappy
I have been a Galaxy user since the S2. But this year I was really disappointed by the Exynos Version of the S22 Ultra here in Germany. As I already use an IPad, I tried the IPhone 13 Pro Max this year and I don‘t regret anything. I am just tired of being a beta tester for many companies. Perhaps in another 3-4 years it will be Samsung again. I‘m happy that in general so many good alternatives exist!
All the buttons on one side I'd major mistake. Its too easy to turn off...volume its crazy. All the buttons are all together. I sm changing back to Iphone because of it.
Here in the Philippines is a Snapdragon Version and that's good

I'm basically bed ridden and my phone is everything to me, entertainment, and staying connected to the outside world. My wife and I upgraded my S9 to a S22 ultra today and so far it's everything I need, huge screen for movies and other entertainment, great sound, we bought a gear4 case for $30, looks good and seems to be well designed, and love the stylis. I have no info on the new I phone, but I hope I was able to help you decide.
If you dont care about cameras shoulda went with the z fold. Its basically the s22+ with a notepad lol. Pre order and u could get free watch 5 pro
1. Does anyone know the Ultra's frame rates for Super Slow-Mo and for Slow Motion? The manual does not give these specs.
2. Also, do you think "Record when motion detected" in Super Slow-Mo will be activated by the tiny International Space Station passing in front of the magnified sun?
I own both. The battery life is unreal on the iPhone this year along with all the standard Apple perks that the ecosystem brings with it. I do however really prefer the camera on the S22 Ultra this year. Both are phenomenal. I just wish Samsung would move away from the curved displays.

I hope you have time for a question. My PC and laptop are Apple. My phone is a Galaxy. I store all of my music on iTunes. However, with the cancellation of the ipod, if I break mine, I would have to pay for the service in order to listen to MY music on MY device. With that said, would you still recommend the Galaxy 22 for me, or would you suggest I purchase an iphone and avoid the $120 per year fee to listen to MY music? Thank you for your time
Apart from the excellent informative part of the video, I love the wildlife setting.
I personally got both, i always buy the latest and greates from both Apple and Samsung. And usually as much impressive the display is on Samsung phones, i used to always go back to my iPhone. Because iMessage and the crazy ecosystem that traps you to iPhone.
But somehow this is year is different, the s22 ultra is a Beast, not only on Camera but also the screen and the features. The S pen is neat, i love the fact that Samsung fuse the S series with the Note. And to be honest i don't know if I'm just tired of Apple not innovating the iPhone at all, but i don't want to switch to the iPhone this time, i already forgot about iMessage and the only thing that i think the iPhone is better is the insane battery life, overall they are both great

I got both too. I love technology and I spent most of my money on it
I bought the S22 Ultra and not saying a no to it now.. At first I struggled with the battery life and wanted to sell the it, however after certain customization the phone lasts for me full day and an half.. Downgraded the 120 to 60 hz but the difference is not a big difference. Still solid fast..
Had heating issues with the phone but now it doesn't at all !
The customization done made every single piece in the device worthy.
The phone used to restart once a week but now it does not..
In overall, its the best Android phone I have ever used, with great camera 📷 and sPen !

@@michaelangelopostanes2004 no, the battery issue was resolved when i did factory reset since the device i bought was used.. now i charge it till 85% and it stays with me 8 - 10 hours till it reaches 30% which is great
Can I ask where did you read that the Iphone has a bigger sensor?
Because as I remember they have on the Iphone 1/1.65 sensor vs 1/1.33 on the S22 ultra

I've watched so many videos comparing phones, but this comparison, for me is always a waste of time (though Jonathan Casey's videos are the most informative). For me its a simple decision between totally customizable and feature rich Android or 1984 Big Brother controlled environment of iphone. I bought the 2nd generation iphone way back when and hated it. spent most of my time trying to figure out how to jailbreak it to make it useful. Never again. I used to be a hardcore Mac person btw.

Does Jonathan ever read these comments? If so, have you ever tried to implant GPS coordinates into the photo EXIF files on the S22U? I have heard it cannot be done.
I think he reads them 😉 the camera gives you the option to save GPS location data in the EXIF data when taking a photo. However, if you’re referring to implanting the data after the photo has been taken, I don’t think this is possible. At least not on the phone directly.

I have the S22 Ultra and it's a beauty, it spills quality everywhere... And the camera is wonderful, especially at night, it's incredible that this phone takes night photos with this quality, it blows your mind

I've never cared for Apple products. This goes back to the 90s. So it would take a phenomenal iPhone to pull me away from Samsung. And I've yet to see a phenomenal iPhone. I'll definitely be getting the S22 Ultra as soon as my budget allows for it.

well, samsung did promise us 4 years of updates, but updates are still better on the iPhones in my perspective. Im still waiting for some glitches and freezes fix tho xD
I got a Samsung and the ip 13 is my main yet idc about that update crap. It’s actually irrelevant when once the phone is old enough it can’t play certain games and apple will slow your device down something that never happens on androids

@@T505x yeah it is unfortunate my gut told me get a s22 ultra or google pixel especially for emulation that was a main reason to get a good android and now you need to do altstore for all that and it’s a night mare I will say iPhone can emulate 3ds pretty well maybe better than android but android plays most emulators better in my opinion
I have to impatiently wait for the end of the month to get my S22u. I tried the iphone (13 pro MAX) after years of saying they're trash... It wasn't half bad. But it was VERY boring and restrictive. Not as polished as people say as well. After Experiencing iOS I'm convinced I'll never go back to apple phones. My MacBook isn't going anywhere but they can keep thier phones
I'm due to upgrade in September and have been an Android user for a number of years. I have considered the the S22 Ultra as my next phone, however due to the phone shipping with the Exynos Chip in the UK and issues people are having with the phone it has put me off. Now if it shipped with a Snapdragon Chip then I'd continue down the android route with the S22 Ultra. For me personally, the features and build quality of the 13 Pro Max is just a better all round phone for me for day to day use.

The features I love about an iphone is security,premuim build quality,flawless gaming,apple ecosystem,awesome videography and the regularly updated operating system iOS.. That's why iphone users hardly switch to android..

iMessage. At least in America that’s the main reason. Also they don’t know any better. Samsung is updated every year just like iPhone. Sammy is just as premium as the iPhone. No issues gaming on the ultra. Actually better in some instances due to the screen dimming from heat on iPhone. The Samsung eco system doe the same as apple and even more with dex. I can keep going. If you use a phone such as the S22 ultra or even the S21 we would see what I’m saying. Typed on a iPad, owner of an iPhone twelve and daily driver is a s21 ultra. Apple is to limiting to compare. My business forced me to have the apple devices. Guess why….iMessage. Nothing but apple head here in Manhattan. I use iMessage only for my clients. If I had to choose I would go Sammy all the way.

I have the S22U and my wife has the iPhone 13 pro max, which she switched from a note 10. I have used both phones and have to say the iPhone is too boring and I feel very limited in what I can do. I want everything possible out of these expensive phones and the S22U satisfies my needs. I feel personally the S22U is a much better phone for my needs and I constantly see better pictures from the S22U.
I bought the iPhone Pro Max 13 2 days ago after comparing both devices for a long time. iPhone is a clear winner for me. The colour are accurate and being a professional photographer myself appreciate it deeply. The Samsung one is over saturated and the speakers are crap.

I decided to try Iphone 13 pro max and give apple a chance even though i have been a faithful Samsung and android user for many years. I can't be biased if ive never tried iphone. But ever since i purchased my iphone 13 pro max, i have been seeing nothing but positive reviews on the Samsung 22 Ultra on youtube and how good it is. I traded my 12 pro max in for the 13 pro I am in the apple ecosystem so is my whole family but yes I have been bored with ios if it wasn't for the apple watch and how accurate it is compared to the galaxy watch 4 I would def jump ship
