In these review they always say go for the diesel, i get the torque and mpg advantage but if you do a lot of short journeys, school runs etc and don't want DPF issues than surely petrol is preferable?
Honestly, I would recommend buying this car; because of the fuel economy it carries, the space and seating and etc. This car is honestly perfect for families of five or seven and I most certainly recommend buying it. I am not from Europe sadly, I am from the Caribbean and these cars don't sell here.
I was upgraded to one of these last week when I was in Serbia as a hire car. I must say I was quite impressed with it to be honest. It was a 1.6 Trend, so would be equivalent to the S in the UK. I had never considered one, especially with a smaller engine having always had 2.0 or 2.2 diesels and currently in in a 2010 CRV. The car had 1000 km's when I collected it and I added a further 400kms, so quite a good test drive. It averaged 47mpd which was not bad considering the constant traffic jams and stop start driving in Belgrade, plus an engine that was still running in. The only problem in the UK is the cost compared to other VAG cars, principally the Superb, although I know they have a totally different target audience.
Just had one of these as a courtesy car while my mk7 Golf estate was in for repairs. I have to disagree with the "doesn't feel like a van" verdict. Although the steering is excellent for a car of this type, it still has body roll and that general feel of it carrying a lot of weight. Getting back into the Golf, it feels night and day more responsive, and actually quieter - the touran has a fair amount wind noise and the engine is louder for some reason. If you don't need the extra seats, go for the Golf Estate...
No i don't , you on the other hand need to see a qualified engineer in order to see the aspects of the VW and how efficient it is. However in this case the Mercedes b class does beat the VW Touran in this case as it has everything speed, power , ability , luxury and looks the amy line of course. I wouldn't say luxurious about the VW, but i would say it is fun to drive!
iTweakgeek Presuming the automatic braking is working as intended, the driver isn't paying attention. There's no way you could change gears fast enough to keep up with the automatic braking. Unless these cars have some way of applying the clutch automatically, I don't see a scenario where they don't stall.
iTweakgeek Ideally, you can just stomp on the clutch when you feel the car begin to brake, but a system that requires driver involvement isn't really automatic.
They are often considered as extra kit, especially on lower end cars. In the us, they are basically mandatory. And in china, rear leg room is what counts. Depends on the country i guess :)
Shame we won't get it over here in the USA I doubt that though since they have pretty much screwed themselves over here with the diesel stuff they may in fact leave the American market altogether like Peugeot and Renault did 2 decades ago. It's not like Americans care about diesel cars anyways no one sells diesel cars other than Mercedes and BMW with a few heavy duty pick up trucks. Great review by the way.
+aabidam well ever since Volkswagen was caught cheating by the EPA they have stopped selling vw and Audi diesels here and every owner on one gets a $500 card for whatever. VW is may end up paying something like $50 billion dollars total for their mistake maybe more. and no companies like Toyota, Hyundai, etc. don't sell diesels here. Here in the USA diesel cars are pretty much only for industrial vehicles and very few German cars.
+aabidam also manual transmissions are almost nonexistent in the USA only like 12% of cars have them and most of the time there isn't even an option for them automatic is the standard
+woodtvnetwork Pretty sure they won't pull out of the US market. They are one of the 3 biggest car firms in the world and their target is to become the biggest. Even though that goal certainly took a hit with the Dieselgate affair, the US market is just too large and important to leave it. But I guess they will think twice about bringing Diesel engines back into NA and probably focus more on the classic gas engines, plus hybrids and electric cars... Which they do have on offer as well, certainly here in Europe. A shame really, because in theory the Diesel would be the ideal engine for NA. Good torque, nice for cruising along, significantly lower fuel consumption and therefore lower CO2 emissions (not talking about NOx here) and a fantastic range on one tank of fuel. It's weird anyways how the US emissions are stricter on NOx than the EU ones, but less strict on CO2. It's almost as if they are designed to be in favor of gasoline engines over Diesels (and vice versa in Europe). I guess that's lobbyism for you...
+woodtvnetwork yeah, I've been reading about how the VW dealerships are in big trouble, nobody will come in and even look at the cars. But tbh VW did it to themselves. they really downgraded the materials for the US market and cut the content to make them cheaper for the last 5 years. Now we're just left with dull, slow, overpriced cars that don't compete anymore, excluding GTI and Golf R of course
Firemarioflower exactly..! If I ran BMW they'd only make the 2(saloon),3,4,5,6 &7 series. Kias are very surprising these days with the quality. When thinking about a family MPV the last 3 words that come to mind are B M & W..!
I'm guessing five child seats will be very unpractical even if it is possible. Not exactly easy access to the seats in the rear if all three seats in the middle has child seats mounted...
+aabidam Yup. But watch 2:05 - she says this is a flexible car because it has room for five individual child seats. I argue it has, but that a lot of the flexibility disappears if you do that. :)
aabidam Oh. My. God. How difficult is it to understand that I commented my opinion on what was said in the video? I do not see how this would be a practical car to have 5 child seats in. If you do - that's fine by me, but I still don't agree.
the new touran needs to have the 3rd row seat movable like the ford galaxy then all the seats can move forward and create little more room in the luggage compartment that would be really wood
Why do these don't come to India there are so many vs cars which dint come to India Bro if this comes to India it will be one of the most selling cars cause the demand for mpv's is more here
+Chatta290 you are right but they can reduce some features and bring it here and you said that it costs more than £20,000 what's there in that I mean what you say is right but now the demand for good cars in India is increasing and there is an mpv called Toyota innova in india it is also nearly £20,000 and it is one of the most selling car in India due to its Comfort so there are many people In India who can buy a car which cost over 20k £ so there is no problem for vs to bring this car in India and by the way vw have some cars in india which are quite expensive like jetta, passat, and beetle and they have a good sale of these cars and thank you for the reply
+Narasimha S Bhandary there probably wouldn't be enough sales passats and jettas are like the cheapest saloons in the UK most people opt for the A6 or the 5 series they are very popular, I'm not sure but if they stripped it it would have nothing it already has very little equipment after it's been stripped you would be lucky to have wheels right?
+Chatta290 see all vehicles launched by any company that's not Indian OK for example vw Passat has less features than the Passat of Europe so the vehicle with 7 seats is needed in India cause there are many families in India that is more than 5 members and the people don't care about the features OK I have a proof my uncle owns the base model of the Renault lodgy I think in UK it's known as dacia lodgy and there were no radio, alloyseyc but he bought all the things he needed aftermarket which makes the car loaded with features it's better than buying a top.spec model dacia lodgy so its not a huge matter of features here it's only the matter of comfort so suppose I buy a dacia sandero base model I can change it to almost like a merc by buying all that's needed from a car shop like touch screen radio, alloys, electronic mirrors, reverse parking camera and sencers ,Bose music system ,electronic sunroof and xenon lights etc so yeh they can bring this without any features in india
the camera man is not that great. everything is zoomed in. i'm not here to see the nice lady... more car would be nice. I'm 6 ' 2 and i can't even see how much space is there at the back because he keeps zooming into her face.
This thing that most car maker do , to put the kids on the back it really pisses me off , if i have to drive my children around i want them in the middle , as you do not advice to have car-seat on the front you should not have a car-seats on the back , that my opinion .
+Leo Phan I disagree. Out of the Vans you can buy this Touran looks and especially drives fantastic. I get my hands on an 2.0 TDI (110 kW) from time to time and when you put the throttle down you definitely dont get bored at all.
Firemarioflower "That needed 2 weeks to think about that?? "-i have work instead of you,i dont have time to read your comments about shit called a VW)))
My grandma just ordered this car, cant wait, we've had the previous one which was simply fantastic
Which engine?
+BoschExxcel electric
The 2.0 diesel auto
2 years later ,,,, how is the car doing ?
In these review they always say go for the diesel, i get the torque and mpg advantage but if you do a lot of short journeys, school runs etc and don't want DPF issues than surely petrol is preferable?
or just french HDI with wet FAP/DPF :D
Finally, a video,I thought you were gone
+Aniket Rajkumarsingh It was the Easter holidays, they were having a break
Ok, the most impprtant is that they are back now😁
Vicky Parrott? She's already working for What Car? and Autocar and no offence to her but she is quite boring imo
Honestly, I would recommend buying this car; because of the fuel economy it carries, the space and seating and etc. This car is honestly perfect for families of five or seven and I most certainly recommend buying it. I have a touran and its brilliant for my everyday needs but as this is a family car I would put leather seats .
Just had one of these as a courtesy car while my mk7 Golf estate was in for repairs. I have to disagree with the "doesn't feel like a van" verdict. Although the steering is excellent for a car of this type, it still has body roll and that general feel of it carrying a lot of weight. If you don't need the extra seats, go for the Golf Estate...
Looks like a very comfy vehicle to travel in.
+FireBird- Looks boring as Hell
I have a 2006 Touran, travelling in this car is great!
Luxurious, outstanding, efficient, average, sporty and a family car.
+King Hussain VW Luxurious?)))HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Good imagination you have.
Thank you , VW forever!
King Hussain You need to see a doctor.
King Hussain VW is unsafe, unreliable, made of cheap materials and etc...I can't understand those people who buy a VW.
Do you sell second hand cars ? I mean do you export?
Hey Carbuyer, it would be nice to see new Merc c class coupé review. Matt should be commentator, he's the best of all crew :)
Ginny looks really lively this video! Nice.
I love ginny !!!!
She has the most gorgeous eyes....
+Urahara Kisuke and her voice is mesmerizing
Guys I'm the first, Ginny leave your husband and marry me !
How does the automatic braking work with a manual gearbox? What if the car is still in gear? Does it just have the side-effect of stalling the car?
No it is normal, pretty much car will break automatically.
iTweakgeek Right, of course, but when you slow down, you have to change down gears.
+Jake Root Well if you slowed down you will change to first gear of course
iTweakgeek Presuming the automatic braking is working as intended, the driver isn't paying attention.
Is this one petrol or diesel
What!? Where's James the Goth? Just kidding, glad to see you Ginny and a great review!
Are leather seats uncommon in Europe and the UK? I rarely see them on any car being reviewed.
They are often considered as extra kit, especially on lower end cars. In the us, they are basically mandatory. And in china, rear leg room is what counts. Depends on the country i guess :)
+milosilic23 Ah I see. In Singapore, leather seats, the smallest petrol engine and an automatic gearbox is the usual standard.
+Oscar Lee why samllest petrol engine??
+Ali RS There are insane road taxes based on engine capacity. Also other additional taxes based on that too.
wow my aunty has an BMW X3 she must pay a lot of tax
can you trust vw now with what it says you get to the gallon , with there software
Don't go for the dash board figures if you don't trust them
Fill the tank, drive a 100 miles and fill the tank again
you will find the actual MPG !!!
Do I hear 108hp or 180?
you should do a review of the new Honda jazz and mobilio
Honda jazz lol what are you 70?
Rip Pepsi um my dad wants one
Lol
+Rip Pepsi but they just did it so yeah he doesn't want it now
What's he getting ?
please make a review of the ford mustang shelby.
Good family car for german days ❤😅
if you can adjust the 2nd row seat why 3rd row seats knee roam will be problem?
+rider09 and what happened to bananas :)

This makes way more sense than the equivalent overpriced and pig ugly BMW
Firemarioflower exactly..! If I ran BMW they'd only make the 2(saloon),3,4,5,6 &7 series. Kias are very surprising these days with the quality. When thinking about a family MPV the last 3 words that come to mind are B M & W..!
Firemarioflower 2 series coupe. My bad haha..!! Yeah not fussed on the i range or the X range and the 3/5 GT.
Ginny looks gorgeous, I can't believe how well she aged since she worked with Hammond in Men and Motors 18 years ago.
Is this a crossover between a beetle and a minivan?
+Sky Trooper
It's like a golf plus, they ruined the design!
The first touran was the best, design wise...
How much is monthly
4:13 Woman, what are you doing with your fingers? they are often roughed up, but now even bloody
that's nail polish bro, chill
+nemanja milosevic I'm guessing she's just removed some nail polish and done a bad job at it
+z00h it's not the first time she'd had weirdly destroyed and cut fingers though
nemanja milosevic this time it's nail polish, she also has red marks on other fingers a bit earlier in the video.
Wael Mkawer yeah, never heard of it with my 33 years of age and a healthy lifestyle.
this is a good touran
after 2 weeks...... soo long
The C4 Picasso is the better car, AutoExpress seemed to think so too.
The C4 is cheeper, and the interior quality shows that, this is a premium people carrier, the C4 isn't.
I'm guessing five child seats will be very unpractical even if it is possible. Not exactly easy access to the seats in the rear if all three seats in the middle has child seats mounted...

Dave Well What does that have to do with anything? My point was that while it is possible to hav 5 child seats in this car, it isn't very practical...
aabidam I don't find it practical to move child seats in and out of a car to access other seats in a car. My opinion. Now shut up.
aabidam Oh. My. God.
How difficult is it to understand that I commented my opinion on what was said in the video? I do not see how this would be a practical car to have 5 child seats in. If you do - that's fine by me, but I still don't agree.
THE NEXT VIDEO IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great car for people doing minicab but looks very cheap inside
Il problema è che non si può caricare peso sui sedili ribaltati...era meglio se si potevano togliere come la precedente versione
A very dull car indeed, but it's a VW so it's to be expected..
Dull, overpriced and it has a polluting diesel under the bonnet...
+BoschExxcel My expectations indeed..
+Officer Berrett also very boring and uninspirational exterior and interior. Dull as can be
Haters everywhere... And btw, all cars pollute (except EVs)
+Officer Berrett it's not a race car, it's not a BMW, it averages 50 mpg, so not polluting really, and actually not expensive given the build quality
#freeginny
She's half an inch shorter than Beccy?
1:23 sums it up... most of 7 seaters, 3rd row is for children.. its just there for name sake.. they should say, 5.2 or something..
great review on a dull car, lol. Ginny you're great, much love from Florida
Zafira Tourer best
What the one that sets on fire?
+Alex Mitchell I said Zafira tourer not
Zafira B model
Vauxhall's are bland, and cheap inside, no, this time the Germans win hands down.
+Alex Mitchell fine! Opel Zafira Tourer
Best! ( Opel is German!)
The brand is, the car isnt
I need to buy this car, so it would be pay instalment, meaning on loan.
Cireon c4 Picasso
the new touran needs to have the 3rd row seat movable
like the ford galaxy then all the seats can move forward and create little more room in the luggage compartment that would be really wood
Mercedes A45!!!
they use the minivan in europe
holy shit you learn new things watching these euro car videos. I guess they call them football moms in europe
looks like a car from the 80's.
front like jetta 😊
Why do these don't come to India there are so many vs cars which dint come to India Bro if this comes to India it will be one of the most selling cars cause the demand for mpv's is more here

lancer ex
Volkswagen Touran
Please eat something Ginny.
May I politely suggest a visit to specsavers! She's gorgeous.
+Steve Powell I agree she is, just a bit skinny.
If you want a minivan get a Chrysler grand voyager
As much as i like chrysler, the grand voyager is an awful car, bad of fuel, ugly as hell, cheap materials, no thanks.
+Alex Mitchell apart from those things everything else is amazing and beats all its rivals by far
that must be why chrysler pulled out of the uk market, because no one wanted one.
+Alex Mitchell that's one of the reasons but the main reason was the amount of co2 it produced
We miss Matt! 😄😄
the camera man is not that great. everything is zoomed in. i'm not here to see the nice lady... more car would be nice. I'm 6 ' 2 and i can't even see how much space is there at the back because he keeps zooming into her face.

Hope the cops were not watching that overtaking manoeuvre.
They do these tests on a closed course bro, easy on the sphincter.
I meant the solid white lines, its illegal to cross them.
Rick Green it's a private road, they can do whatever they want.
if it is private why the lines ?
Rick Green cause they can do whatever they want with it, like paint it so that it looks like a normal road.
MPV pouze s automatem!
This is just disgusting! You selectively delete the negative comments (not for the car but for the review)!
And you should read your highway code dear, overtaking on double lines and on a bend, bad girl :)
VW getting boring like Toyota did
+Leo Phan I disagree. Out of the Vans you can buy this Touran looks and especially drives fantastic. I get my hands on an 2.0 TDI (110 kW) from time to time and when you put the throttle down you definitely dont get bored at all.
tiene la misma llanta que la suran cross
