You did a good job with lubing those stabilizers without having to desolder the switches to get the stabilizers out. With my friend’s keyboards I’ve done this to make their stabilizers less rattly.

Why would you need to desolder? Hall effect switches aren't soldered on because the "actuation" happens on the board not in the switch. The switch is there just to hold the magnet that the sensor is detecting.

Thank you sir. Friends and family thought I was ridiculous when I shared that I was bothered by the poor sound (rattle) of some of my keys. Clearly, I wasn't the only one. I must have watched 25 videos on modding custom keyboards (tape, hole mod, dialectic, lubing switches and stabilizers), but when I dissected the Apex Pro, it wasn't the same animal. Your video saved me from (unquestionably) trashing my stabilizers and the board. I followed your blueprint to the letter and now every key on the keyboard thocks. They all sound like a premium product. I am beyond happy with the space bar sound now (thock, no rattle). I purchased the products and tools on your recommendation. I did end up using Krytox, but everything, including the brand of bandaids was on point. I also bought the prism key caps which are on order. Thank you so much.

Just finished modding my Apex Pro TKL with the methods described and really happy with the results. The stabs really had me disappointed with this keyboard and out of the box it's really a let down. Shame that Steelseries didn't lube from factory because this really makes a huge difference for such a small amount of lube and tape

I personally think the band-aid mod isn’t really needed as after just living the stab there was nearly 0 rattle! Reason being the build quality is already really solid and overall the stabs don’t move around to much, so if you are scared that you’ll ruin your board just lube em, no need for band aids!

That dielectric grease wont really be doing as much as it could if you were able to actually lube all the way around the stabilizer wire. If you're able to solder, you can always desolder the switches that are between the stabs and swap out the stabs for durock plate mounts. But if you're buying a prebuilt you probably don't wanna solder or unsolder anything lol

after using the apex pro ITS INCREDIBLE, the keyboard sounds decent in the non stabilizer parts, as long as you use the prism caps. Always use the prism caps, lubbing the board is a great idea as well. Wouldn't risk the band aid mod though.

    Hello,
I tried this with the stabilizers and the band Aids. I pulled one of the stabilizer to much out and it popped out. When I understand correct, it is unfixable, but maybe you meant something else, my English is not so well.
So what I wanted to tell, in my case i managed to fix it. It was not easy, but is is fixable, the keyboard is not unusable!!!

I think that would be a bad idea since it is a very precise opto-mechanical switch. This means that if anything blocks the laser beam that shoots under the switch, the switch just wont actuate...
