Brilliant work man! Inkscape has had the 3D box tool for years, but I never truly figured out how to use it. No Illustrator has a 3d box tool and it is easier to figure out. I like how you explained this. Going to look into it some more. This tool would come in useful when mocking up Company signs on a location photo.
@@ButtonPressGraphics I tried it out after your video, and yes, setting up guides on top of a photo to match the perspective is essential before using the 3D Box tool. Reminds me of using fSpy for Blender. You're also right when it comes to using the Perspective envelope filter. Here's a tip: Let's say you made a sign artwork and using the perspective envelope to match on a photo...I've found that it makes your vector work extra distorted. What I've found works better is making a raster/bitmap copy of your artwork, then use the perspective envelope after. Your work stays proper.
Great video!! Please, how can I add a text onto one side of the 3D box tool and have the text flow into the shape of that side of the box? I’ve tried with drawing out the shape (with the Bezier pen) of the side I want to put the text on, over the side and then tried to make the text “flow into frame”. But each time I do that, the text just disappears
Hello there my friend. I must give my sincere apology for not replying sooner. This comment seemed to slip through the gaps. As you can see with other videos, I usually reply to every comment. If you are referring to what I think you are, there is an easy fix. If you are referring to having the text wrap around two sides of the box, for example the left and right side, you can convert the text to an path by using Path> Object To Path. Once done, you can then cut the text box into two parts. Using the Perspective Envelope Path Effect will enable you to to snap the text on to the four corners of each side of the cube. For a visual aid, check this video to see the method used - ruclips.net/video/HvzGZNXi9_Q/видео.html Hope this helps
Unfortunately no. The perspective tool is a Path Effect meaning it will only work on a path. You can Trace Bitmap your image to convert it into a path. However, doing it this way can be very demanding on your PC so be aware of that in case Inkscape crashes.

Yes it is, especially when mixed with things like the perspective envelope. Thank you so much for your kind words my friend

@@csmemarketing I have noticed the same. I never thought to do it that way so I will try that. Thanks for the tip, it seems obvious to me now haha 😄

Hello, is it possible to do perspective transformation on bitmap images in inkscape?
Unfortunately no. The perspective tool is a Path Effect meaning it will only work on a path. You can Trace Bitmap your image to convert it into a path. However, doing it this way can be very demanding on your PC so be aware of that in case Inkscape crashes.
@@ButtonPressGraphicsThank you very much for your reply. I think it is possible using InkRasterPerspective.
