  • Time to button up this primary side. I didn't put outer primary cover on in this video, but I walk you through how I setup the inner components. One day closer, a million things more to do, but it's starting to look like a bike again!

Worked a little on my sporty last night. Had no front end at all for it,. So I pull one off my 67 triumph. Installed it on the 72 sporty.

Hell yea. There's something great about taking parts and making them work!

HI My name is Sergio. I ask you a favor. How much is the quantity of gearbox and primary oil? Thank you

I think it's just less than a quart or so if memory serves correct. There's a small bolt in most covers that I remove, set the bike upright, and fill until it starts to trickle out of the "small" primary bolt. 3/4-1 quart typically I think.

What are the extra studs for on the clutch plate?

Been a while since I had this opened up. I really don't know off the top of my head.

What year did Harley go to that style clutch?

I'm not positive but it was 70 or 71 I think. Off the top of my head anyways. They switched to the wet primary case at the same time, which is why my numbers are off. I know 69 would have been the older style for sure and I definitely don't have that.

What year motor did you blow up? Was it the original 1972?

Nah, totally different bike. My first chopper actually. It was a 73 XLH. That bike taught me a ton! I'll try and see if I can dig up some old footage of that but it was I sold it about 5 years ago.
