This is the guy I want working on my bike. Someone this anal about details. I'm the same way but my mechanical skills on automotive aren't as strong as his are . I'm a commercial/industrial electrician and enjoy doing a real thorough job in my craft, even in areas people will never see again.
Nice find. Always did like the sound of the Sportster. I really like the soft background guitar picking music. Not too loud, just right and mellow. Ride the wheels off of her.
Awww man!! Sweet stuff. Keep up the videos bro, you just hit my algorithm. I love watching bikes come back to life. And what a great find! You've tripled your money so far.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Bikes like that are getting harder to find in my area for a decent price. Should be picking up another one next weekend to get going.
Damn that thing sounds sweet. That’s the first Harley I ever rebuilt and chromed out for a buddy. Never done one before now I’ve done quite a few. Good snag.
A dozen? Man, takes some serious work to keep all of them on the road. Those FXEFs are great bikes. I’ve got an 81 FLH I plan on getting running again in a week or so.
Super congrats to you. Lotta work but that sound at the end makes it all worth while . Just finishing up with a 95 sporty that was left out in the weather for two yrs . Come in to watch your video selection for inspiration . Cheers !! Guy Speight
thanks man this video helped me alot i just bought a 78 sportster xlh and am completely new to mechanic work, bought as a hobby to work on it and this helped me get an understanding of where to start on mine
My kind of channel and what you do is my addiction as well aquire wreching collect, and reluctantly sell, have to be very lucky and first to make a few bucks, keep it up and thanks for sharing.
West Chester here. Hope to see you on the road. i saw that on marketplace. That tank is sick. Just picked up a 73 xlh from that same area that will be running soon.
Your video popped up by the magic of RUclips and I started watching. 30 seconds in, and I’m like, wait, he’s heading West on the Turnpike coming off at Morgantown route 10, which is very close to where I live. I recognized all those backroads and have ridden em a bunch! Great bike btw, ride safe 👊🏻 (P.S. I subscribed, keep the videos coming, it was awesome)
It's cool to see a fellow Pennsylvanian on here. You are doing an awesome job showing the repairs. I don't know what those VIN numbers are from but, their not Harley Davidson 😢
nice video...congrats on getting her goin.....nothing like a man cave with a H-D and lots of tools with good light and solitude....nobody to bug your ass etc etc......i`m going thru the same process on a 89 decker....beautiful custom paint and art work but no start....it smelled so bad from leaking oil i had to take it off my table and wrap it up outside...it was still winter temps and snow and fumes were coming into the house.....but now spring is here and i`ll scissor jack it up outside and slowly but surely get started on it....lots of fun.....canada
Nice. Good luck with yours. I hear you with the smells. I have living space above the garage, smells like fuel and exhaust up there more than the garage some days.
@@MotorLeague interesting. Did Pennsylvania stamp over the original numbers (which I have seen done) or were the pads blank to start with? It’s a hard life being an Ironhead Sportster and after looking at them for 50+ years nothing surprises me.
@johnkelly6942 Nothing left of the original stampings, ground down before the reassignment. Do you get a MSO for those frames you build or just use engine title? Some great work by the way.
Sticking with the Mikuni for now but when it’s in the mid 30s I sure do miss a carb with an accelerator pump. If it was kick only I would be switching it up for sure.
Now you gotta put a real carb on it😂😂😂 something with an accelerator pump on it, because Harleys like em on cold start, you shouldn't have to choke it above 60° f properly tuned, just 2 squirts from the throttle and boom!
Yeah I did miss the accelerator pump of my old bendix on start up. This was my first time trying a cv, wasn’t too bad but for sure not as crisp under load.
I wasn't going to watch the entire video but after 32 years, I couldn't stop.
Nice job, nice bike 👍
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Nothing like the sound of those old iron-heads. A buddy of mine still has his old 1975 Sportster, bought it new.
Sound and the smell. Nothing like it.

Ride the wheels off of her.
You just got recommended to me. Love these video's. Outstanding job on getting it running again. Peace ✌.
Thank you.. I should be picking up another bike soon. 👍
Fantastic sound when it's runs.
Lot of good work man. Congrats.
👍
Wrenching on bikes in my shop is cheap therapy...well sometimes cheap haha. Glad I found ya on here. Liked and subbed!
Sometimes cheap is right.. that’s what’s nice about these old Sportsters. Still affordable compared to the Ducati’s and modern metric stuff.
I had a '72 xlch (kick only) that I had to rebuild everything. Put it in a Paughco rigid. Great bike while I had it. Friggin' AMF!!
Kick only is the way to go.
Thx for the therapy, I used to do starter and generated repair.
Nice. Glad you enjoyed it.. wish I could have saved those.

Thanks, it’s nice to get them in half decent shape every now and then.
Nice, love the a Ironheads
1974 XLCH with the pb+ cams
It was a real beast and I never should've sold it. 🇺🇸
Sucks letting them go.
When it went over a dozen it was time to thin the Herd 🦬 so moved up to a 79 FXEF superglide for my advanced years.
A dozen? Man, takes some serious work to keep all of them on the road. Those FXEFs are great bikes. I’ve got an 81 FLH I plan on getting running again in a week or so.

Thank you. And good luck with your 95.👍👍
My son is building a beut 82 with all good bits.
Cant wait to hear it go
Nice 👍
Sweet success. Really cool man.
I really like that bike..lots of potential for upgrades and even chop it out..good job man.
Thanks, appreciate it. Bike has character for sure.
Chop it ? do you use drugs ? why ruin it ?
Great Harley. Greetings from Bulgaria
Thank you 👍

Reluctantly sell is right.. gets easier when you run out of space though.
Awesome video awesome bike lucky dude bike is well worth what you paid and well worth saving
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
That potato sound is magical!! 😎
Nice man. Keep the videos coming on the Sportster.
Sold that one a few months ago but should be picking up another one soon 👍.
Thats music to my ears ❤❤❤❤

Sweet project bike awesome
That is an unusual serial number on that motor.
Good eye. It’s an assigned #.
Nice job!!! Lve those kind of videos 👍
👍
The Sporty Jew is tough, dude! Those front engine mounts/frame fins are sick. What the hell are those?
Frame fin bird slicers. They had highway pegs mounted on top at some point.

Right on, glad to hear. I haven’t ridden up that way yet but the roads seemed great, have to give em a try sometime.
It's cool to see a fellow Pennsylvanian on here.

I don't know what those VIN numbers are from but, their not Harley Davidson 😢
Good eye. That’s an assigned vin from the state.
Sounds sweet
Vídeo muito satisfatório! Essa é uma bela moto!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Wish they still made them like that. The new ones look like crap imo.
Like a lot of things these days.

True.
Been looking for a basket case. FLH... Glad you got a good one....
Yup, good deals are still out there if you’re willing to wait. Been meaning to dust my FLH off, need to do that soon.
Another bike saved.
All should be saved. Pristine, Nice, Decent or Shitty all of them
nice work, hallo from new zealand

Solenoid too.

Jolly Good Show
👍
Good find for a 1000 dollars. Are you going to sell it or hold onto it for a while?
Will be up for sale as soon as the title shows up.
Old girl sounds good
Not too bad for sitting that long.
Nice old motorcycle. Interesting VIN. What’s up with that?
Good eye. It’s an assigned vin from the state not HD. Not sure why or what happened but the title matches the frame and engine stampings.
@@MotorLeague interesting. Did Pennsylvania stamp over the original numbers (which I have seen done) or were the pads blank to start with? It’s a hard life being an Ironhead Sportster and after looking at them for 50+ years nothing surprises me.

Cool
👍
👍😎👍
Is that a dirt bike carb on it ..??
Thats a universal 38mm round slide Mikuni. You just need to jet them for the application and you can use them on a ton of different bikes & engines.
I noticed your vin number is strange looking 🤔 are those numbers given by the state for a reconditioned title?
Good eye. Assigned state vin, was like that when I got it.
Great Video !
Had to subscribe !!
Let me if it's for sale.... Thx !!

Bro you definitely need to get yourself some power tools!!! A cordless ratchet or a 3/8 cordless driver, something!! Lol
old bike, wrong side chains and gear sifter.
Yup, 1975 was the first year with the shifter on the left and rear brake on the right.
