      Just had to de-install one to paint the door and the weak part is the electrical connector. Difficult to remove and easy to damage. Good to hear the video made installation easier and congrats on the installation.

    PSA: I recently moved into a house and it had the same lock. The only problem was it wasn’t working! We tried changing batteries and everything but it wouldn’t work. We figured there was something wrong within the circuit or the lock it self. After opening it we discovered there was some leaked battery that was preventing the flow of electricity from and to the batteries. So if your system isn’t working try taking it apart and wiping it down and cleaning it. Also would recommend to open and check your system every moth to ensure it lasts a good period of time. Have a wonderful day!

      Thank your for sharing the important tip. I had a run of Duracells that leaked and finally switched to Costco Kirkland alkaline and so far so good.

    How did you fix the “stiff”? My lock won’t work due to the stiffness in the door.

    This makes it unsafe, if the thief breaks the glass he can easily unlock the lock from the inside of the door. You must use a double-sided lock.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  3 года назад +6

      Depending on your local building codes the double sided key lock can be illegal. The reason being in case of a fire it can keep prevent a quick exit. Yes you are correct knocking out the window would defeat this lock. What you have to realize, most lock can be defeated with a couple of kicks to the door or with a battery operated drill. The locks real purpose is to act as a deterrent, if your house is locked but your neighbors is not, which would you choose? Thieves are looking for the path of least resistance. If someone really wants to get into your house, they will.

    How do I change a code on a lock I own of this brand and no longer want the same code used?

    How do I reverse the direction of this lock? I press lock it unlocks

    • @cfldriven

      Sounds like the bolt was in the wrong position when the lock first initialized. I would set the bolt in the correct position (per instructions) and go through initialization process again.

      I have same problem, and spent THREE HOURS trying every way to change it but it always is backwards.
      It is designed for doors with lock on the right side, apparantly it can't work if the lock is on the left side! Can't believe there is no way to make it work for the other swing.

    Kirkland batteries are Manufactured by Duracell lol

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  2 года назад

      While this is indeed true, the specs for them may be different than Duracell uses on there own batteries. I had too many leaks with both regular and Pro Duracell, but after switching over to Kirkland several years ago, I have yet to have any leaks.
      Thank you for sharing your insight on Duracell.

    Come on people just get a regular deadbolt as they are more quality built.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  Год назад +1

      The only reason some people get these locks is for the convenience they offer over a regular deadbolt. In the end if someone really wants to get into your home even the best lock won't stop them if you have a window.

  • @achillesbuilds2432

    The bottom handle doesn't have a lock and I watched a video of a guy using magent to deactivate the deadbolt keypad in a split second. I'll pass on this.

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  2 года назад +1

      So a burglar with a magnet would have to canvass all the locks in the neighborhood to find the Defiant, or he could just knock out a window, kick in the door, put a hammer, drill or screw driver to the lock. Locks are to discourage people from wandering into your home, if someone really wants to get in, they'll find a way regardless of the lock.

    • @achillesbuilds2432
      @achillesbuilds2432 2 года назад

      @@cfldriven I think k you're failing to understand. A magnet works on nearly all keypad locks... not just defiant. I could care less. I believe in the 2A and will hand out permanent dirt naps to whoever enters my house. My message is for those who tend to have a little more soy in their diet. Yes, locks are meant to discourage, but they should at least offer you more than a few seconds of security. Understand the message and get out of your feelings.
