seen a lot of neg comments good thing we was never young and we knew everything right out of the box. this is how you learn trial and error don't let theses naysayers get you down it was a nice effort.
I know im late but i have to say it In todays world with information At our fingertips theres no excuse to not know basic information about a given subject in this instance the kid was messing with a boat boats are used on water water claims hundreds of lives every year a good portion of those lives are claimed by people falling out of boats .... I hope i didnt come across as a jerk my comment wasnt meant to sound that way...
I get what your saying and people can be very critical. Some has to be triggered by the need for parent help and common sense. Wonder how many videos about boat building there on youtube to look at before you get started. Why not a list before all those trips to the various stores. If their old enough to drive their old enough to start with a plan.
@@eurocarman euro I guess your first at attempt at new things is always perfect. Go sit next to jesus while the rest of us enjoy ourselves without you and that corncob up your ass.
Gonna deck the boat out today... That was funny as hell. Real cool project. Can never make enough trips to the hardware store for that type of stuff, and those little things add up fast. Great build!
Looks nice man . If you want a cheap easy way to open the hatches, drill 2 holes then cut you a piece of that rope. Tie knots on the end and bam you have handles that stay out of the way .
You should think of getting some sheet foam; cut it to fit in the floor area between the runners under your deck area and can be secures with double sided tape or just plain silicone sealant. This will help with floatation and help keep the area under the deck at a reasonable temperature (hot decks are a pain!). Also should think about making a floatation dry well on either side of rear deck under the deck area. Just make a small box type enclosure with the side wall and some vertical wood from deck to floor, then fill in with pool noodles to stuff it. The will help immensely should you get a leak in the boat while on the water!!!!!!
Instead of handles that stick up and get in the way, get out the wide wood drills and put a large finger hole in them to use to open them. Nothing sticking up and it saves money too.
I am planning on doing my own 10 ft jon boat similarly to yours. What's the deal with the gap on the doors though? Or was that so you could use the metal of the seat to mount the hinges? Maybe I'll measure mine so the gap ends up on that edge or something. But good job on doing it a d getting out there fishing!!!!!!
outdoors weekly u need to primer paint the wood, not sure if u did spray adhesive but the carpet should be glued to wood, the gaps in the doors are calling for a toe to get stubbed or things to fall down, I understand ur not a master boat builder or a wood worker but take your time and don’t rush stuff, and those hinges will rust out super quick u need stainless steel. I just built a deck and everything for a ski/fish boat to turn into a bass boat and I took my time, painted every piece of wood used stainless hardware the whole 9, no gaps on doors, watch Michael Lopez tiny boat nation videos and get some ideas how to make it a legit mini bass boat
Wow, that's a truly impressive build. Did you weld all the joints/fittings in the hull/boat or did you use/mix rivets? Did you use a blueprint for the overall hull design or just wing it? How did you manage to get all the indentions in the aluminum so perfectly consistent? Lol.
How much is the weight limit on the boat? I like the concept but those gaps in the compartment doors would drive me crazy. Is it stable to stand on and fish?
Come on guys-- who clicked on the video to watch 8 minutes of you shopping ? Besides that, get rid of those ungodly hinges and replace them with piano hinges !
Nice job, how many feet is it, are you getting a trailer for it, do you have to have a title for it and last roughly how much did you pay for the boat because I like it alot
Think about what you want to say and show first. Make sure it sounds good. Then roll on the camera. Cut it quick and to the point. No need to say anything twice. Keep your shots still and you'll probably get some more views.
I'm cringing the whole time! Man I nearly lost it when I seen the way you ran the fabric grain on the hatch covers! Perpendicular to that of the grain surrounding it! I was definitely entertained! But not in a manner I'd approve of again in the future.
Not really we tried to get it done fast more than anything, looking back at it we probably should have slowed down some a payed more attention to detail
Callahan Bradley I think it’s just a pond hopper considering that jon boat only weighs like 100 pounds. They’d get killed on a big lake just from the wind
have you ever done a modification on a Livingston? I have a 14' Livingston, but the raised column in the middle is giving me logistic issues. Any ideas. worldcat.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Livingston14_bow.jpg
“ it’s like $25 for a sheet of plywood so we’ll go to Home Depot”
Home Depot in 2021 $93 per sheet😂😂😂
For anyone who plans to do this in the future. Use piano hinges if you don’t want gaps.
Get a six footer and cut it to fit multiple hatches
Thanks
Those poor hinges
Nice looking boat everyone does it different fuck all these negative comments every one is a boat builder and a expert on everything looks good

@@GeorgiaRidgerunner I agree, I think they should’ve done more research or have an adult or more experience person help them
Your hinge placement makes me cringe lol but everything else looks great !
Yeah it looks good, but I would have made the compartments in the back open to the back of the boat.
Ya I am about to do another build and I am going to do them different
How would you do it? I’m about to pick up Jon boat
Bustin out the HAND SAW! Yee ha!!!
Good job man
Bryce you guys did a good job to have not had any help dont listen to the others negative comments 🎣🎣🎣
You and your girlfriend did an excellent job on that boat. It really looks nice.
$25/sheet 😂. Gotta love thos pre-covid prices lol
the most impressive and worthwhile put of this project was the joint effort........ when i was you guys age i did it the same way ..Good Luck !!!
this looks awe-fullllll
He’s a little kid. I would say it looks great for his first try at building something like this!
Cool build dude! I just bought a 10 footer myself and going to do something similar. This is inspiring!
Man that looks nice for a jon boat great job
Nice boat.
Pro Tip
Take that extendable paddle to the lake. Throw it in the lake.
Great job brudda even the hinges are bad ass
I love how you have the retainers on your glasses, but still wear them on your head lol
What in the world is that hinge placement. Brutal
12:25 those gaps on the hinges are absolute deathtraps
How about that kitchen drawer handle to trip over LOL
For my bullet weights
Cool little build, could of at least put all the carpet the same direction lol.
Everyone is triggered by their craftsmanship.... they're kids. Calm down people.

Well done buddy, I hope she enjoys the boat as much as I did watching the video. 👍🏾
👍
Let's play a Drinking Game. Every time he says Deck or Decking out everyone chugs a Beer.
Thanks for the vid I liked it. and was very informative. Been looking into building my own
It's a really fun project
Great job by your selves I got lot of good ideas from this things I can do better but things I can get from u Guys great job

A few velcro rod straps or regular velcro straps should hold those lids down when you’re traveling
Nice video that is amazing you've inspired me to try to build one now
It's a fun project
A front trolling motor mount makes far more sense for any fishing that I do.

We took it out the other day and it was actually pretty stable and floated just fine
outdoors weekly the foam is in case the boat fills with water to keep it from sinking to the bottom, not for stability.
Drama queen ! This thing almost killed me !🤣
Hey outdoors. Not sure if u remember but I would comment on most of ur vids in the summer. I just caught my winter pb, 5.7 pounds!
I remember you, congrats on the PB man!!
great video keep up the great content
Will do!!👍
Nice build on that Johnny!!!! Good job man!!!! That would be a great little river setup!!!
👍
Nice job.

Trial and error bud. Fuck these negative comments
Thanks 😂
💯💪👊LET'S GO!!!
Are all the dislikes from those annoyed by the hinges lol y'all ridiculous, definitely a good how to, obviously change the hinges

Piano hinge would be perfect get stainless
Am I the only one that cringed at this
What was cringeworthy about this so I can do better to avoid that next time

outdoors weekly not hating on you but do it once and do it right the first time, or u will spend more money going back and fixing it a second time
No you wasn’t lol
Good job on the build, yes there is much better way to do some of the things, but who cares you learn from your own mistakes
Came for the jon boat build but it was already built
look into getting a quickfist clamp for our paddle and securing it to the side of the boat.
Wow, that's a truly impressive build. Did you weld all the joints/fittings in the hull/boat or did you use/mix rivets? Did you use a blueprint for the overall hull design or just wing it? How did you manage to get all the indentions in the aluminum so perfectly consistent? Lol.

Apparently you since you are watching and commenting
Looks good I have a Jon boat but not as fancy as that
👍
Kid looks like Sean Penn
Self tappers are your friend
$25 is nothing bro it’s up to $75 a sheet now
The metal things are called boat cleats
isaac larger actually there not. There called mooring cleats. They are on docks too!
6:37 Did you stuff the microphone in your mouth?
no kidding right
Invasion Nation do you hate on people more successful than you so you fell better about yourself all the time ??
I’d like to see a person walk around on the deck one of these boats when it’s finished and in the water. I can’t find any video
They're called cleats.
Drayton Magill I was yelling that the whole video
😂
How many lbs would you estimate it added? I have a 4 cylinder engine in my truck and it can't pull a ton of weight
Nice video. The hinges are not in the best locations though. How much weight did all that add to the boat?
Around 50lbs
U mean your building a bass boat because u all ready have a jon boat
You are not building a Jon boat? You are decking a Jon boat!
How much did that stuff cost you?
Yooo did you nail your front deck to the boat like how does it stay ?
lol. how long did two people last standing on that in the water? Im betting its not a stable situation. LOL.
Nice build how much added weight did it total?
Like 50lbs, we Took it out the other day and it works amazing!
Dat handle tho
Should of put hinges on the boards so u would not have gaps on compartments
Your rite... next time 😂
Where did you get the jon boat from
Did you not put any studs underneath the plywood for support?
Nice job, how many feet is it, are you getting a trailer for it, do you have to have a title for it and last roughly how much did you pay for the boat because I like it alot
8 foot, yes we are getting a trailer, not yet but plan on it, I am not sure but look on Craigslist you can get one for really cheap
outdoors weekly I appreciate you always answering my questions
I try my best to respond to everyone
outdoors weekly 🖒
Was it to hard to fit your battery through those little holes on the back deck?
Enough space for an outboard?
Don't you mean building a bass boat? It was already a John boat.
He should have put the hinges on the top so he wouldnt have to have that gap
If I could do it again I would do it that way
Outdoors Weekly, still did a good job.
Thanks!

I can't find any folding chairs anywhere in Finland. If i ordered one from amazon shipping would be 170$.
4:07 who les it watching is 2021 with plywood at almost $100 a sheet
its called a cleet in the uk
I'm cringing the whole time! Man I nearly lost it when I seen the way you ran the fabric grain on the hatch covers! Perpendicular to that of the grain surrounding it! I was definitely entertained! But not in a manner I'd approve of again in the future.
Did you even try to make this look good? Seems like you did 30% effort on the whole thing
Not really we tried to get it done fast more than anything, looking back at it we probably should have slowed down some a payed more attention to detail
how long is the boat? 12?
How are u going to put a motor on the back with the deck in the way
Callahan Bradley I think it’s just a pond hopper considering that jon boat only weighs like 100 pounds. They’d get killed on a big lake just from the wind
did you get pressure treated plywood??
Pressure treated wood eats aluminum. DONT USE PRESSURE TREATED
I made a plywood flat bottom boat. It’s about 8 feet long. I also have a 17.5 foot bass boat.
👍
congratulations
how long is your boat
HINGES LOOK LIKE GARBAGE THERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE TOP SIDE NOT THE BOTTOM
what kind of jon boat is that
I would have went with a non skid rubberized paint and no carpet. Stainless hardware always on anything exposed to the elements.
Why would u not use a skill saw to cut that wood?
What length boat is that?
10 ft wide
What length was the boat
Looks like the 1 i just bought. 1036 tracker topper. 10 ft × 36 inches
Hope not to wobblybobbly. Looks good tho
Why did you do the hinges like that?
We should have put them on the outside
I hate when Kids post videos on how to do they think they know more than anyone else the fact is they do know shit
have you ever done a modification on a Livingston? I have a 14' Livingston, but the raised column in the middle is giving me logistic issues. Any ideas.
worldcat.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Livingston14_bow.jpg
What's up with the big gaps
Please don't let him loose on any big job babe he will sink you with his carpentry. lol
That was rude to say to a kid that is just learning
Why don’t you just get a trolling motor ?
How wide is the boat?
I am not sure it's not my boat
Those hinges soooooooooooo bad but the rest is really well done ....some one is gana snap a toe off in those hinge cracks
