Sooooo what exactly is a Heatpod? Will it help me combat the harsh arctic tundra of this upcoming winter in Northern Ontario?
The Heatpod Sauna Blanket is the newest release from HYDRAGUN, and they were nice enough to send me one so I could review it and share this video with you today!
The idea here is that the HeatPod creates infrared heat in the confined space within the zipped up pod (think of it like a sleeping bag). This heat provides the user with the positive effects of global heat or thermal therapy, in a portable and (for the concept) compact package.
Full details in the video of course, but so far I've found that my favourite use for this is as part of my post-workout routine. Heading into the sauna after a workout at the gym can be a great way to finish your workout for the day. Seeing as I don't have a sauna and I do all my workouts in our basement, this is a great fit for post-workout heat at home.
Is this the kind of thing I would prescribe to patients as a Physiotherapist? Not necessarily, I wouldn't prescribe sauna usage as a part of someone's therapy routine, and this occupies the same space being global heat therapy. Instead, the Heatpod Sauna Blanket seems built for the post-workout recovery or general wellness world, and for that I think it's a great fit.
New videos go up sporadicaly, so if you're new around here click the link to subscribe to the channel and turn on notifications so you don't miss anything new!

So why watch A Physio Named Jonah?
For free videos about the human body, injuries, rehabilitation, the world of Physiotherapy, and whatever other shenanigans comes along. Maybe you can learn something new and not feel like you're stuck in a classroom waiting for the bell to ring.
A Physio Named Jonah is a channel created by, well, exactly who you think. The channel features primarily Physiotherapy based topics, or things that it would make sense for a Physical Therapist to weigh in on. The goal is to make these often sterile topics interesting and easily accessible to anyone with a few laughs (or forced exhales from your nose if you're alone) along the way.
Jonah is a Canadian Physiotherapist who works with a primarily outpatient orthopaedic population at a clinic in Downtown Toronto. He completed his Master's of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto, with his Bachelors of Sciences specialized in Human Kinetics coming from The University of Ottawa. He is also considered by his parents, girlfriend and dog to be a pretty cool guy.

Thank you. I don't see it stated anywhere whether this is near or far infrared. It makes a difference!

You are mistakenly comparing a transitional sauna with an IR Sauna. They work differently, temperatures of an IR Sauna are lower. The body heats up internally as opposed to externally. The last part of your review about whether the blanket holds benefits is misleading

Hi Jenna, thanks for the feedback! I always try to make my videos as informative and accurate as possible, so I appreciate constructive criticism.
Would you mind clarifying what about the review was misleading about the benefits in this case between the two different sauna types? If there's a way I can make the distinction more clear in the description that's something I'm potentially interested in adjusting for when viewers come to find this video.
      Thanks!

Appreciated your review on this! Any chance they've given you a coupon code that works in 2023? I'm looking to purchase one, and I was excited to see a coupon code made for Canada, but missed last year by *that* much. $75 off would be a sweet deal!

Hey Warren! Sadly my coupon code only applied until December 31st, 2022 :( HYDRAGUN may launch another promotion that will apply to Canada at some point for the HeatPod, but at this point I'm not sure when/if that would happen. Thanks for checking out the video, sorry I wasn't able to be more helpful with the discount!

Thanks for sharing your experience! The heat limit is a hard cap on temperature so I can appreciate that limit may be lower than you would prefer. I would recommend reaching out to HYDRAGUN if you have any specific feedback or concerns to share!

Looks cozy in there! Can I borrow it for winter camping?

You mentioned you're 5'6. How much room did you have? Do you think this would be a tad short/small for a peron around 6'1. Thank you.

      Hey Zak, good question!
I do think it would be on the snug side for sure, as I definitely didn't have a ton of spare leg room. You could likely still fit by slightly bowing legs out to your side, but I think it would be difficult to be fully sunken down with the flaps up by your shoulders.
      Hope that's helpful!
