A few notes about this video:
    1. the blanket has an automatic switch off when the time has elapsed, so there is no concern about falling asleep and actually turning into a jacket potato.
    2. This particular blanket comes with a 30-day money back guarantee which is pretty cool - try it, don't like it, return it.
    3. Re: EMF - there is a GREAT comment about this below - look for John Foley's comment, he's a Physics Teacher!
    4. The running costs are around 50p per hour.
    5. I am going to do a test on a friend with the calorie burn, someone who isn't as active as me - I will add the results here.

I have used two other sauna blankets. I was immediately relieved of severe clinical depression. It's over 2 months right now that my mood has remained good. It's a complete miracle in my life! I also have a very clean diet which I'm sure helps. But if you have depression, get a sauna blanket if at all possible!

My cardiologist recommended it for me since I've had 2 heart attacks. He says it will help improve my heart muscles. I'm also diabetic and have very poor circulation in my hands and feet. So, two more benefits for me are that it makes my heart healthier and increases circulation. My feet used to be frozen when going to bed. I use an electric blanket but it would take several hours for my feet to warm up. Using my Far Infrared blanket, anytime during the evening, even several hours before going to bed, I find my feet are never frozen. I love it. I do not have the same MiHIGH blanket, but a much cheaper one.

Great review video. Very interesting. I have read lots about the benefits of heat therapy and also hot/cold therapy. Especially on Tim Ferriss' podcast and in interviews with Rick Rubin and Laird Hamilton. I'd love to give one a go, but my concern is a point you raised is I don't know if I'd use it a few times and then put it under the bed.
Have you used one of those acupuncture type mats? I had one bought for me last year and I struggle to lie on it for prolonged periods. Maybe this is something you could explore in another video?

Hi Laura! I love your video, come across your channel because I want to find about home sauna.
I have a question for you, do you think this sauna can effect breast implants in any way?
Or if I need to use some kind of cover for chest area?
    Thank you!

I am in the US and have a higher dose sauna blanket and I LOVE it. I recently got rosacea so quit using it for a month and then decide it probably does more good than harm. Higher Dose makes terrycloth towel bag inserts that are AMAZING! No clothes needed! I have 2 and I flip them inside out and hang to dry, then use the dry side again, so 2 uses out of each towel. SO glad I spent the extra on the towel liners.
One thing I don’t understand: how does infrared light get through a towel or clothes?? Anyone know?

Would you recommend getting directly into it after a a workout. Just thinking logistics of working up a sweat then showering the sauna bag followed by another shower. I can only fit in my workout in the evenings but primarily want to try improving sleep by using the sauna bag

It's best to wear a towel material robe so it absorbs the sweat and is easiest for change transition as well as most comfortable, another option is all cotton waffle material pj's / long johns .

I.have a n infrared light therapy panel which hangs on my wall and I go from there....
Along with the light you receive some daft goggles to protect your eyes from the IR light....
Is that necessary with your blanket ???
Perhaps it's an apples and oranges type of thing.....

Laura, thinking of getting something like this for rheumatic joint pain and bad skin (acne), after a good sweat you pores are going to be open, would you recommend a cool shower straight afterwards to close them?

Love that you've reviewed this sauna blanket Laura 😁 I was looking to buy one but found a Firzone portable infrared sauna which is like a human size giant cool bag with a chair inside 🤣 I look rather ridiculous in it with my head poking out the top but oh my - I absolutely love it! I sweat buckets in it 🔥 and feel incredibly relaxed during and afterwards. So happy I bought it. I have a cold shower straight after 30mins in the sauna and feel really good. I have no idea how it affects my physiology in terms of calories burned/heat shock proteins/HRV etc but mentally I can certainly feel a difference for relaxation and stress relief so I'm happy with that 😊

I have one of those. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. The only complaint I have about mine is that the steam can actually burn the skin and no matter the power setting, it just seems to go full steam ahead and I have to keep opening it to let some of the heat out starting around the 15 minute mark. You should try it during a prolonged fast. It really is a comfort on an empty stomach and you'll find your heat tolerance is much higher without excess body heat from food calories.

Hey Joanne, I love the sound of your sauna - sounds EPIC!
I totally agree on the relaxation part - the first 15 minutes are a dream. Then it starts to get HOOOT!
The decrease in stress must be doing something good 🧘🏼‍♀️

9:14 hey Laura! loved your video and thumbs up from me.
Regarding calory consumption measurement: most figures given by sports watches (e.g. Garmin Fenix pro solar that I use), are approximations for an average body.
I do regular kayaking ranging from 5km to 30km. And I can assure you, even counting from normal laws of physics,e.g. work = distance x force, the amount of energy I consume in a normal kayaking session depends on each and every factor: opposite wind, side wind, the type of paddle I use, my technique efficiency, and many more.
That IR blanket gives a measurement for again, the average population. Most of the population here in Germany and I'd say even more so in the UK have a 30+ body fat percentage; far from an average health-conscious and usually fit person.

So I was also asking myself, how to relate to the calorie burn claim. I really don't know, but here is my speculation:
Could it be, that a fitness watch/etc. is basically just estimating your calorie expenditure based on heart rate (and your fixed inputs on age, sex, height, weight) over time?
So basically it calculates solely your energy expenditure through activity (but baseline energy expenditure is assumed as a given in addition to that).
Now wouldn't the energy expenditure through a infrared sauna session fall into the court of baseline energy expenditure? E.g. that your non-activity-related energy expenditure goes up while in the blanket?
TL;DR: I think you can't measure those additional calories burnt when in the blanket with your fitness watch. 🤔

    • @quantummath
      @quantummath 2 года назад

I agree. If I were among Garmin engineers trying to come up with a model that best estimates the energy consumption, I'd certainly take into account factors such as muscle mass and their proportion of each type, body fat composition of all fat types, and certainly the VO2 Max that I think might play an important factor, along with heart rate, age, gender, and visible measurements.

Everyone is going to have different results from using these blankets If you are fit with a low percentage of body fat you will not see much difference in your body but Well have results from all the other added benefits . If you are a person with a higher percentage of body fat you are definitely going to see a change in you body with all the added benefits Including boosting your metabolism 👍 Taking your measurements before starting would be a good way to monitor your progress.
