I loved this video. I'm 68 and watching it today brought tears to my eyes. That was the same model boat that I always had in mind for me until I developed a love for sailboats. I actually sat down with my wife and we imagine ourselves in your place! It is nice to find a video that makes us happy and is so uplifting, I've followed you guys for many years and your videos are truly the best of them all. Well done guys! Yes the Pacific ocean runs full spectrum from "calm as a lake" to "unbelievably dangerous". It's all about dat weather window and you chose wisely catching her at her best behavior. If you had been out there last week you would have seen 50' breaking waves and 60kt winds closing out nearly every safe harbor entrance. I think WA is the perfect location for this stout trawler to happily explore 1000 anchorages that can only be reached by boat. She will make the next owner very happy.
    Cheers!

Last time I went on a long passage I went 236 miles upriver with no issues. As soon as we landed and I was jumping off the boat to tie up and high five everyone a huge splinter sticking up from bad dock wood stuck me in my toe and got lodged next to my bone. Had to get it cut out and it was painful AF. I feel your Pain Sierra. 🍻

Sorry about your accident, you have very probably broken your Scaphoid bone. You need to get it xrayed (a special type of xray to see that bone) immediately and have it put into a "wine glass" splint. Left mine too long and they had to operate with bone graft and pin but it did not take so now have pain on and off.

That's my home sailing waters, I know all of it very well after decades of roaming about out of Tacoma going way north(Canada and Alaska) and south. It's a beautiful place, isn't it. The weather can be more than a bummer at times and last for a very long time, which is why I moved to CA. I still own property up there, but I'm never going back fulltime to the PNW, I love to visit, but can't wait to leave. 40yrs of 9 month long winters has burnt me out on it. I now own property in the Sierra Nevada Mountains outside of Sacramento and I love it.....landlocked and boatless, but I still love it.

OMG! You just solved my mystery sighting of a "Mola". I recently saw an Ocean Sunfish. We were threading the storms on day with wet, foggy, and swell-y conditions...but with amazing 10-18 knot breeze aft of our beam. Long Beach from Avalon, a few days after a big storm, and the day before that big atmospheric river storm on Jan 5th. We had no forward propulsion from our motor, as during our 2 week trip, our transmission had slipped into needing a rebuild... but we had reverse! 🤣Needless to say, our minds were on other things. An equally crazy dolphin crossing encounter shortly followed. We did eventually motor into the marina and our slip... backwards. But I will never forget the sight of that strange creature flopping around right next to me! as it rose right up in the swell near the cockpit / helm. Mola!

One of my favorite times was when I got to do a 21 day kayaking trip with the YMCA out of Camp Orkila on the North coast of Orcas Island. We paddled just over 100 nm on that trip. Circumnavigating the island. As well as making a jaunt across to Pender Island, BC. A small group of 8 kayaks crossing a major shipping lane twice was fun. Was a fun time and will get back out there again some day. Until then though I will just have to enjoy watching others getting to see it for the first time. Looking forward to seeing your adventures here. Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy.
