- Beach Boys Medley, featuring, in order, "409", "SHUT DOWN", "LITTLE DEUCE COUPE", "I GET AROUND". Recorded at BB KIngs NYC on 7/20/09. Guest DAVID MARKS, original Beach Boys member, on guitar. AL's Music Director, on keyboards, is BILLY HINSCHE
I honestly think Al has aged the BEST out of all The Beach Boys. He still sings exactly like he sounded in the 60's. AMAZING!
Pretty much looks the same. Ages slowly I'm jealous 🤣
GREAT to see Al and Dave together.
I know! It absolutely warms my heart to see that!🥰
Al Jardine is my favourite Beach Boy.
Mine too.
same here Al Jardine is my favorite member of the beach boys
Sure Brian is great when it comes to the music and yes we miss Carl and Dennis. Mike has that certain sound that is all his but, Al and David are my favorite Beach Boys. The voice of Al and the guitar of david are awesome. The years catch up on all of us, but the memories will last a lifetime.
I love seeing Al and Dave playing together and getting along (replacer and replacee). I doubt Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth would ever collaborate like that
My thoughts exactly. Two humble guys.
That's what I was thinking - all good times with these great people and musicians :)
In the live version of the beach boys back in 63 Al actually replaced Brian, with Brian returning after Dave left.In the recording version of the Beach Boys Al and Dave did appear together on a few tracks like in my room,so in reality Al didn't really replace Dave though I suppose Dave did replace Al originally.
Al actually came back to replace Brian originally.
Great to see Matt Jardine there also.
David Marks = guitar hero ‼️🎸🔥
It was nice to hear 409 sung by siomebody who wasn't singing through their nose!
The bassist played with The Beach Boys at their famous Knebworth concert in 1980, cool to see him again after all these years.
Ed Carter
Cool to hear Al take the lead on Shut Down.
A guitar can be a lethal weapon in the hands of someone like David Marks.
David Marks did his same licks at age 14. Amazing guitarist and a huge asset to Beach Boys music!
David Marks-authentic Beach Boy.
Its very moving to see two old faces appear from out of the long ago.
I like David's personality and boyish grin. He seems like an all around good guy, the type I would like to hang out with. By the way I can say the same thing for Al Jardine. ❤😂😅😊
I love it when al starts to sing 409 he doesnt realize what was going on at the beginning. I love his smile.
They were all good in their own right but the Beach Boy I was drawn to the most was Carl Wilson. Not only was he a fantastic lead guitarist but a gifted singer as well. He sounded a lot like his older brother Brian. He was a talented musician all around. GOD REST HIS SOUL.
Dave replaced Al after 1st song, & then Al came back after Dave left. good to see them together along with Carl's brother n law Billy Hinche, & Ed Carter, both from band in the 70's.
Ed Carter and Billy Hinsche def belong iny sort of "re-union" show this winter.
There is not one of the 'young boys' in the Mike Love version of the Beach Boys, who has an understanding of the "musicality" of these Brain Wilson produced songs...Al Jardine is really the 'voice' of the Beach Boys on tour...David Marks...damn! he is the "real deal" on that Fender...these are the real Beach Boys!!
I hear Jardine, Love, Johnston & Wilson were recently in the studio together, I hope The Beach Boys listen to Beach Boy fans & include David Marks on the recordings, for we can hear a new recording of some of that classic dirty beach boys rhythm guitar style, make it happen beach boys, the stage is big enough for Jardine & Marks together, by the way Jardine & Marks recorded some tunes together on the surfer girl album, the classic catch a wave is one of those tunes, long live the Beach Boys
nice to see AL and DAVE still beachboying and singing and DAVE still playing a mean lead guitar thanks for the video they played all my favorites
The musicians on stage at this show, of course Al has played the most BB concerts. After Al, Ed Carter has many many years as a touring Beach Boy. He started with them in the late 60's and did shows into the 90's. Usually on bass but guitar too. He even played on a few 70's & 80's BB albums.
You gotta love Jardine, Marks and Carter!
These guys Rock!!! I love Al Jardine singing, and David Marks is a brilliant guitarist. Thanks guys!!!!!
GOD BLESS DAVID MARKS
Can't believe it's been 13 years.
My favorite beach boy is Al's son Matthew!
Should be, featuring David Marks& Matt Jardine.
Beyond cool
I was at this show the other night. Fine show. Matt Jardine has a very impressive voice, not quite up to Jeff Foskett but not far off.
David actually played on the orig's of these (well 409 and Shut Down and Deuce) - why he is rockin out. Man, the guy can play ALL styles of music. Sorry I missed this show - where was I? Hope they - Do It Again!
This is brilliant !
Hawt damn! This was not bad considering the Bruce and Mike Beach Boys videos I've seen over the past several years. Mike has the easiest notes to sing in all the songs then and now and he can't compare to this. Even Jardine has bowed down to David Marks's guitar playing many times in interviews. I am aware that Marks has been quite bitter about what Murry did to him in and after the Beach Boys, but at least he doesn't hold anything against the band now. I did hear that he was always close to Mi
my favorite of David Marks at 7:42
Yes Al did do songs off the new album..Postcards from California and Driving, along with Honkin Down the Highway. All the shows on the tour were great!
Enjoyed seeing them all together!
Dave & Carl learned guitar same time from neighbor down the street.
So, are you going to see the Beach Boys during their reunion tour this Summer? David Marks will also be in the band and will have Brian at the helm. I'm so happy that you have to eat your words.
Agreed, hellomcflyy. Carter is a talented bass player and guitarist who's loyalty to the band is unequaled.
Al !
I think these guys are , at least at this point, tighter than the current Beach Boys line-up, with a little more of the original spirit. I've seen and enjoyed the Brian Wilson band in the last few years, and I'm not one of those BB fans that hate Mike Love, but WOW, these guys have that great rockin' feel that I enjoyed when I was a kid. IMHO, Al's voice has held up better than Brian's or Mike's. I saw him with Brian in Oakland. He can still hit the sweet spot.
Al does a great job with these leads. Vocals were good by all the guys. Seemed to be having fun with it. I saw them with Dean performing as Legends of Surf. they were not very well rehearsed that night. this is much better performance it sounds like.
WOW ~ This is great, sounds wonderful, AWESOME ~ way to go Al and band~ I enjoyed watching and listening!! : )
If you're gonna play the car songs you gotta have those "Fender"s...
Its Al Jardine, David Marks, and Napolean Dynomite singing 409!
Al and the guys were great in Vegas last July at the Cannery Hotel/Casino!
Man I hope they do more shows in major cities around here. I missed this one.
Al should be back with the boys! He is missed!
On the contrary. They should be with him! There are more original BBs here then the official band.
I'm waiting on the Ed Carter autobiography.... oh the stories....
Met Ed great guy.
I see Ed Carter on Bass!
Ed Carter has been playing with the Beach Boys and rock and roll since electricity.
Billy Hinsche on piano.
Bobby Figueroa on sax? The drummer?
Not on sax no...
SAx Canatta
brilliant ...
I see Al's still into those old Fender Strats....they are good guitars.
My response to Scott Fraziers comment. Being a guitar enthusiast myself I agree fully with your assessments on Fender Strats. Granted this is not to say that there's anything wrong with any of the others. They are made for what they are made for. But Fenders are better suited for vintage rock.
Jardine probably wasn't the harmonizer that Brain and Carl were, but he had the best _lead_ vocal in the band. He could have fronted any band and would have had a great career.
Al is cool!...
All those lead vocals Mike had....should have been Al.
Jardine the Younger
Yeah for real! I also wish that Bruce Johnston could have sang the lead instead of Brian on several tracks.
My people the car people
I agree
Ed was never offered membership into The Beach Boys, he was always considered a member of their band, though...just like Billy Hinsche, who was Carl's brother-in-law.
Billy Hinsche was also a founding member of Dino (Martin), Desi (Arnez Jr.), & Billy (Hinsche). Short lived band in the mid 60s. Quality pedigree, no magic.
please, came to make a show in brazil, i beg u allll,
alll jardineeeee lol!!!
I never understood why Ed Carter was never considered an actual member of the group....and Bruce is.....he joined like 2 years after Bruce...and never left in the 70s...
@MyCelticHeaven That proves how Dennis used to drive this band. He was a great underrated drummer who had problems when Brians arrangements got more complicated, but for the straight rocking early Beach Boys, he was the man.
25 year BB Bobby Figuroa on Drums
Super
@veit56211de
er ist 62 mit 13 beigetreten, sein letztes konzert mit ihnen war am October 19, 1963, danach hatten seine eltern nen streit mit murry wilson wegen geld usw, und kurz darauf war er draußen.
did Al steal jeff fosketts clothes?
this is better than the new beach boys
@THeMaskedBlogCritic
well, he was no ringo starr, keith moon, not even a charlie watts, but he was great for their early songs.
their first live album totally rocks, but yeah, he's got nothing on all those great hal blaine tracks.
@kookytootfloot I wasn't there, but the story goes that Murray fired him.
Did he play any song off his new album?
Ironic that he& David wind up together
A tad slow, fellas. Vocals are in tune though. God Almighty, that's Eddie Carter on bass. He's been touring with the Boyz since electricity.
Just curious medic, why am I kidding?
These guys are so much better than M .Love's fake band.
Oh dear - some nice guitar by David Marks aside, this is desperate stuff. Al looks - and sings - like Jack Nicklaus
@BeachBoysGuy1 but im sure murray helped sabotage marks career (although i doubt he would of made it big anyway)
Sluggish performance. Listen to the original.
I tend to agree with Carl Rudd, to me it sounds OK but it is comparatively sluggish. Maybe the mistake that we are making is that we are comparing it to the ultimate "Beach Boys The Lost Concert 1964". This was the complete line-up of the Beach Boys at their best and for no extra charge, we got the Mike Love Soft Shoe Shuffle" thrown in.
Terrible renditions. Mike's Beach Boys sound ten times better.
You're an idiot.
What a knucklehead. Can't ear.
Jergens Roberdeaux Can I nose?
More like Charles Leper.
+Jergens Roberdeaux I bet you have to be set in the sun and watered twice a week.
