    I am in no way affiliated or associated with Trail Tech. These videos were made because I get a lot of questions about this gauge in the comments sections of multiple videos where it is seen. Trail Tech was kind enough to let me use some of their stock photos of their parts for my videos.

    Thanks so much for posting this video! I purchased a Trail Tech Vapor for my Honda CRF 450X and everything went smooth with the installation. When I decided to make my bike a SuperMoto, the smaller tires threw off my speedometer reading. After entering the tire information on the calculator on your website, I'm back on track.

    What number do you set engine temperature light warning to and danger warning temperature to?

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  5 лет назад

      I tend to go by experience with an engine or engine platform to decide where I want to set lights. No xp with the DR650. I'd say start with them set high, like 350-400F and watch your temps and see where they actually are to decide when you want to be alerted. If set too low, the lights are kind of annoying IMO, so you only want them to come on when it legitimately is a temp that you should be aware of.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  3 года назад

      It has to be wired to a power source. If it is left to rely on the battery in the gauge, it will not stay on. It automatically comes on when it senses engine RPM if wired to the vehicle's battery and then shuts off after no signal is sensed for some amount of time. I have never used it with just stator output, but I believe the lighting would switch on and off when stator power is present.

    Question. My zuma has an mvt installed on it and I’m seeing revs as high as 19999. I think My timing is either advanced too mich or something is wrong because that seems wayyy to high.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  4 года назад +1

      It's not revving to basically 20,000RPM. My guess is that the tach is set wrong for the MVT. The MVT needs a tach setting of 2 PPR (pulses per revolution) while most 2Ts use 1 PPR. So if you have it set at 1PPR, it's trying to double RPM and you should even notice that it idles way high at say 4000-6000RPM according to the tach.

      It will tell you ride time. It's in the same area as the max speed, max RPM, odometer, etc... Off the top of my head I don't recall, but after you go to that by hitting Mode, then it's the left or right button that will show you ride time.

  • @drdrew3
    @drdrew3 2 года назад

    Reading the sidewall of your tire and reading off a table is the least accurate method of determining tire circumference. Better to measure tire height with a tape measure and multiply by 3.14 (pi). Or put the valve stem at 6 o’clock and mark the ground with chalk. Then roll bike forward exactly one tire revolution and mark ground again. Then measure distance between those chalk marks for the circumstance. Usually close enough the first time.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 года назад

      I'd still check and calibrate vs GPS so they both end up in the same place. I've had no complaints with the GPS calibration method and many many tests vs GPS as well as RADAR readings show it to be very close. In the real world, most speedometers are up to 10% optimistic from OEMs, so we're well ahead of the game if we just get within a percent or so.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад

      @@49ccscoot The best way to measure tire circumference is to actually measure tire circumference. Of course you still need to calibrate against GPS regardless of the method. Those tables don’t account for tread wear, inflation, temperature or anything else

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 года назад

      @@drdrew3 I agree... but if you've seen how different some people can measure the same thing then for general use I think any of the above are solid.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 года назад

      GPS calculation over multiple miles seems to work well. Accurate tire size settings are great, but I think most people will be able to be more accurate with the help of GPS because it's easy to be off a little with circumference measurements. Maintains accuracy with both GPS and RADAR after setting up that way from my experience. Much more accurate than OEM speedometers that are almost always multiple percent higher than actual speed.
