Another great thing is is my car my first car is a manual and I realized you never have your friends asking if they can drive your car
Never lend - your" car "or your "wife "out ...may never get them back..
Eric your right I have a hellcat 2019 sry Manuel and I only give it to people like my girlfriend and my family
🤣
YOU ARE PROBABLY THE ONLY PERSON WHO SHOWS WHAT TO DO INCASE A QUICK STOP IS NEEDED. Thank you❤️❤️👌🏼
now keep in mind normally driving conditions on the road obeying the laws up to a maximum of 110 km/h (thats the fastest youre ever ever going to go down a highway, sure you can just put the car in neutral and hit the brakes to your hearts content, however in racing you actually get a 10% increase to braking power when you fall down from gear to gear lets say youre at 230 km/h and need to slow down really quick, well in this case putting it in Neutral and hitting the brakes has loss of braking power and more wear on the brakes, the reason for this is because (for whatever reason physics) the engine is actually really efficient at slowing you down if you throw the RPM's into the high range when you shift down from 5-4-3-2-1 (dont ask me how this works i have no idea lol) however from the transition of 5-N-4 if you dont rev match the downshift all of that power gets sent down your clutch and wears that even more... hmmm decision decisions, you got a lot of them here, choose your poison do you A: put more wear and tear on the brakes, or B: put more wear and tear on the clutch... up to you bud
Ernesto Chang cheaper to replace brakes than a clutch
I'm planing on buying a manual car for the first time. thanks for the lesson
DCHTOWN1 ME Too haha
Did you get that car?
Get a manual first car so your friends don’t wanna drive your car lol
So are correct about anti theft. Stepson reached the age of midnight unauthorized driving, one day he ask me " why does your Buick regal gs have three pedals " I found it so funny I didnt get too mad for him trying to steal it.
if you have to brake you don't need to put it in neutral first. If you approach a traffic light and you definitly have to stop just leave it the last gear used and brake untill revs are around 1000 and then put the clutch it. In traffic situation on a the highway I would recommend to always shift down because there is a chance you have respond quickly so you want to have torque on the wheels as quick as possible.
Another thing that is quite important is that you shift back to 2nd or 3th gear (depending on how heavy the car is ) before the turn and release the clutch before the turn.. If you take turns witg the clutch in the car has forward momentum and wants to go in the direction it came from, if you release the clutch the front wheels pull the car.. I don't know specific what it is good for but thats what I got taught... nice vid 👍
Lmfao I’ve watched SOOOO many how to drive manual cars, and this is the only video I’ve seen that actually explains it well
I've never used an E brake to avoid moving back on a hill even from a beginner. I learned to quickly find the engagement point without making the car jump or stall. Using the E brake is acceptable for a beginner but you have to remove training wheels to truly learn anything.
Pretty good instructions I must admit. Good call with the parking brake & the hill starts. 👍🏼
Thanks man. Helped a lot because you don't make things so complicated
THANK YOU SO MUCH ! I'm watching this video like 5 times. I'm trying to get this challenger from 09 it's a manual and I have no idea how to drive stick but this really helps
That’s crazy me to
Wish I could have learned this when I was younger. But it's never too late to learn!
Very true! 👍
I love the clutch on the challengers, the shifter is good too (on the 2015+ cars). I remember my 2012 SRT... it's like... like fighting with octopus tentacle, the play when the car is in gear :P. But that being said it love the "SNICK" when it goes in. @_@ I want one again!!!
B-MAN all challengers before 2015 is terrible imo. From the tail lights to the shifter
I found my 2012 to be not to bad really ( I am still sicking my ass for selling it) just a shifter mod and it would have been fine. But that being said...that Laguna leather.....
Good review brotha. A couple very important thing to add is knowing the shift points of the car to not over or under Rev the engine based on slow/fast driving in each gear - this will cause the engine to wear out quicker. I see too many people popping the shifter into neutral while going downhill or when they are slowing down from a speed of 25 mph or over...this is not a safe practice and can cause damage.
U r the best i have seen so far
Well done...Just a question about heel-toe in the Challenger ~ the gas - break pedal distance seems pretty big. Is it possible to heel-toe in the Challenger & what’s the best way?
....Best way to learn....plus....best security device too!
thank you!
Green Challenger, Green Mustang, Green Camaro, such good colors on these muscle cars
I learned to drive manual when I Porsches my Cayman...I rolled so many stop signs that first full day of driving, straight up hated coming to complete stops
ayee i live in York Pa what a quad incidence
This help a whole bunch thx
Is that the stock srt manual knob?
Nice video. Thanks man
Great video.
You helped me alot ! Im 19 i was at first uneasy about getting into a manual but the dealer gave me a really good deal on a 2015 srt hellcat so im trying to learn a manual before i pick the car up Saturday 😂
Same here. But I haven't driven a stick in like 3 years and buying a manual hc. Might be a little rusty lol
Lol a clutch is much more cheaper than a transmission
Just remember to stay calm & don’t get rushed. If you understand the mechanism of a manual, you’ll be fine. No different from driving an automatic, once you get it.
I thought hill start assist only held the brakes for a few seconds, meaning if you don't let the clutch out and start accelerating you'll drift backwards... In other news, you and MKHBD have the dopest intro music of all RUclips videos.
This video actually helped Thanks😉
+salah izhak Glad it helped! 😁
Question.. Does cruise control work with a manual transmission?
Obviously you don't wanna use it in town.. but..
On the highway.. cruise control is a nice thing to have
Obviously it does work. It automatically disengages when you depress the clutch pedal or when you brake.
Totally useful. Hope to see wrx sti review soon :)
he did already!!!u didnt see his videos
Good stuff
helped so much dude thanks!
but when do you downshift??
@@shoelover2145 near 1,000 RPM
Hey now I can steal my neighbors viper at night
why does this car have two brake pedals? One for front and one for bacK?
wait.... so when i want to go to neutral from 1st gear or something, i have to press the clutch first right? Just making sure, and I'm a bit confused at this part. Another thing, so when i'm going to a stop sign and red light or stopping from sudden traffic, I have to put the gear in neutral right?and one last question, when changing between gears, do I have to press the break as well while pressing the clutch before i change gears? tnx for the video
Yes, anytime to change any gear you will need to press in on the clutch. Then when you stop at a red light or stop sign you technically don't have to put the car in neutral but you would have to keep you foot on the clutch if you don't so what most ppl will do is put the car in neutral so you are able to let off the clutch and relax...Just keep you foot on the brake. Lastly, when you are changing gears you only need to press the clutch... So from 1st to 2nd press the clutch and shift...And so on. Hope that helps!
Omg tnx so much!!!!! Gold Pony
Just bought a hellcat manual just watched this vid wish me luck
Is the grab point where you slam on the gas?
Yes
First thing I did was swap out the "ball" shifter for a Mr. Norm's pistol grip. Challengers should come from the factory with a pistol grip like the original 'Cudas and Challengers from the 70's did.
what did you think of the hellcat's shifter? it looks really long and wacky and hard to handle
+Harrison C not my favorite shifter but it's actually pretty nice once you get used to it!
Harrison Chiao, the shifter itself is actually a good solid design, & easy to shift with, the clutch is much heavier than you’d think it would be though..takes some getting used to
Long? Man you don't know what long is haha. Old muscle cars got over a foot long shifter
How do u shift while driving fast
at a stop light when ur in neutral and the light turns green, instead of going in to first can u put it into second???
if you are not moving then you must go into first gear but if you are slowly moving forwards you may put into 2nd gear. It depends on the speed.
Weight Lifting805 yes
If the car is not moving, you have to put the 1st gear
@@bart.__ Not necessarily. You can start in 2nd if your car has a decent amount of torque.
Great video
Thanks!
Learning manual on a 55 year old transmission right now. (1965 MG MGB) I want a modern car so bad :(
I use valet parking at least once a month. I'd never trust a manual in a valet situation. I grew up driving a manual but I'm fine with an automatic today. Most of my driving is around town or on the highway for day trips.
When I worked at an insurance company a stolen car with a manual transmission was found. Since I was one of the few adjusters who could drive a manual I was sent to pick it up.
I prefer a new challenger as my daily cuz its still a muscle car and powerful af but still comfy and has the entertainment system and id have the 70's cuda as the weekend car or a show car cuz theyre more rare to find on streets, theyre usually in garages ready for car shows and theyre unique
But that was just beautiful
And also i can have a dodge demon also as a weekend and show car and mostly could use it for drag races, cuz if i got them and i wil inshaalah that would be soooooo dopeeeeee❤️❤️❌
But overall i love all muscle cars if new school or old
If reverse gear is so close to 5th gear is it possible anytime that we would shift wrong to reverse gear instead of 5th gear?
No its impossible to the car won't let you
It has a mechanical anti lock which won’t let you go to reverse.
how to drive a STICK??? just flail your arms and legs around like pool noodles and at some point you will move.
today I feel gold plated lol
Nice
👍‼️
Thanks
I wish I could of learned manual before I got my gt probably be a lot funner, oh well still badass ride for auto
grim reefer0420 lmfao gay
@@5.7heaven youre just jealous because you dont have a car or just have some 2nd hand cars from the 90s live civic or some shit.
GG Antimage negative ghost rider. 15’ R/T plus which you can look at in my pic/on my channel and also have a 16 ram 1500 5.7 8spd 3.92 rear 4x4
But good guess!
¿Esto no lo enseñan en la escuela de manejo en usa?
Just get a quick release with the Manuel then thats and extra theft protection
When are you supposed to shift gears?? What revs?
+Dangi Lopez It will vary from car to car but usually around 3k is normal but if your racing every car has a red line which is the max rpm where you can shift from
Gold Pony okay i have a 2017 dodge challenger but sometimes when i shift around the 3 revs the car like pulls pack it doesnt go smoothly
i taught my wife who still loves me and my daughters my best advise don't use gas at all as you get use to the clutch The clutch is king so you should have enough power and torque to go 1-2-3 with clutch ONLY then as you get used to the "bite" and engagement then train your foot for gas. I did that with my trainees till they knew the clutch then added the gas pedal. I asked my wife to fold her right leg under her as we did figure 8's stop go stop go 1-2-3. to bad this DOESN'T have a handbrake which makes hills and such easier (before hill assist) LEARN THE CLUTCH......CLUTCH IS KING
What is "sufficient power" for you?
A manual gearbox makes any otherwise boring car a fun car
Anyone else know how to drive one but still watches this for whatever reason?
I've had 4 cars, never even owned an automatic and still watch these.
Nice video
Thanks!
I know how to drive a manual but not an automatic. Never driven one. Can you or anyone else explain the basics and what to do and not to do on an automatic? Or direct me to a video? I want to buy an automatic in the future because in my opinion it is easier for city driving.
You press the right pedal to go and you press the left pedal to stop. Easy.
TheZane03 you're*
just use ur right foot to accelerate and then when u need to slow down, let off gas pedal and drift and re press gas to speed up. Or to stop, let off gas and brake. just use ur right foot the whole time. dont use both feet unless you want to.
Trajanowski Rifleworks really
It’s too hard don’t do it
U did well
big problem is handbrake pedal !!! why pedal whyyyy????
Great review covering the very basics. Could have used a bit more depth though. Im just going to assume you didnt want to make the video too long. Way more to driving a manual than just stop and go.
Are they still offering manuals in 2019? ;(
haha less and less on performance cars but still a good bit on entry level compact cars tho
Yup unless you get higher level performance cars. Like the Redeye and Demon are strictly auto but think positive your the more rare manuals become the better thieves won’t be able to take your car and no one will hassle you to let them drive your car 😂🤣
Always take the shift pattern off the stick if possible. Extra security measure.
takes literally 5 seconds to google an image of the shift layout. you aren't securing anything, and you're just vandalizing your own vehicle.
sounded like you may have watched a fee engineering explained videos haha
so this video was made for theives to tutorial before making there attempt?
Good video but only thing was that you used a little too much rpm to get going ,that was slipping clutch. challenger you were driving has so much torque all you really have to do is let out clutch slowly and it wouldn't even stall.
R.I.P Viper we will remember you.
👌👌👍👍👏👏
I've heard the 8 speed auto run faster than the 6speed man .. Many folks are saying this .. Any video for proof
it is 100% true
Futbol_ Editz it's not about speed, it's about pleasure and driving experience
there's a lot of videos on RUclips showing the same cars, one in manual one in automatic, racing. Automatic always wins. I prefer manual though, its much more gratifying.
Mico M only for those with no stick skills
Funny you would even have to make a video like this!!!
RDDC, not really. 70% of the drivers on the road in the U.S have no clue how to drive a manual..sad, but true
Why is it funny?
Men I drove stickhell yeah!!!! Y'all know love is in the air, well balls are in the air
Dam a manual challenger 🥴
How does the dealership just loan you a hellcat to use as an example 🤯🤯
mmmm lucky pedals
My dad daily drives a manual
You dont need to press the clutch to start the car when ur in neutral
It is not necessary, however, if you do not press the clutch pedal, the starter motor has to drag the gears of the gearbox, which affects the starter motor and especially the battery. The less friction the starter motor has the longer the battery life.
I know how to drive a automatic with my moms but I wanna learn how to drive a manual so none of my friends try to drive it
U did well
😴vvvvv
What about reverse
what about it? Do exact same thing as with 1st gear only change it to reverse of course.
Now the car theifs know how to drive this shit.
There’s no reason to hold the clutch in while the car is in neutral
Correct 👍
When you are driving a real Mopar, unlike the Hellcat(only Dodge Boys and Ram Chargers understand), shoes aren't that important. Boots, loafers and what not can be worn. The foot well is smaller than a Polara or a Belvedere but boots can be worn. You want your foot to pivot on the heel.
That is whynracing shoes are ideal,.Like Momo or OMP. But if you are a real Dodge Boy, it don't fuckin' matter. Dodges today are muscle but not like they used to be
Real men drive a manual.
BGKO1992 Dam str8.. autos were made for women. True story btw!
I confused a Dodge Challenger with a Ford Mustang
how was the stereo? lmfao jk jk
+richard bean haha... I knew I should have mentioned it!
😂😂😂😂
U did well
😴
Great...now the car thieves will know how to drive stick...
think I'll just get a automatic Challenger.
And ur profile is any better? Lmao ur a 3rd worlder
Potential x10 hey, it is a lot easier than you think. My first time driving one was either a '09 or '10 Challenger, told the salesman I was looking between an auto and a manual, said I haven't driven manual in a while and actually did better than the salesman. To each their own, but if you get a chance you'll be in love with them.
Potential x10 id get an auto for a daily driver and a manual for a weekend
Brandon Black poor men drive manual
Same here bro!
U did wellmmnbvcçvv
My dads 1998 manual Honda got stolen like 4 time so this vid is bullshit all in the same year too he had to instal a device that doesn’t let the car start with a secret on and off switch
Autoamtic gearbox only for electric cars and loosers :)
you need some new shoes man
New manuals are basically not manual. New manual car basically start by themselves. If you want to learn go to an old car.
His shoes tells that his daily driver is a manual
All of this seems like too much work just to drive a car. I would just use the manual mode on the 8 speed auto to have fun. Just pull on paddle shifters or the t bar shifter to change gear. Simple
