What is something that stood out to you about this insane trade?
BTW, the 11th thing you should know, is that KYRIE IRVING has a player option at the end of the season, meaning he could leave in free agency... and after the Mavericks management just traded his friend and co-star, I think there is a VERY good chance that happens. Imagine how crazy it would be if he joined Luka in LA. lol.
NOTE: Planning on covering what has been a CRAZY NBA trade deadline as whole… but I wanna see how it wraps up first. Still waiting to see how things unfold with KD…
Ad and Luka hot take lakers shouldn’t of traded ad at this point they should’ve traded lebron away for Luka so the lakers actually have a good center and defense in ad but also get rid of lebron who’s like 39, and probably going to retire soon and get Luka instead who is younger and pretty much plays just like lebron

One thing I noticed about this trade is the amount of shade that AD is receiving. Yes Luka is amazing and Yes AD is injury prone but we need to not treat AD like he's Anthony Bennett or someone like that. He's still a star that I believe has years left in him. Yes Mavs are crazy but dang!!! (This has nothing to do with this video because you didn't throw shade, just a general note)

Yes, but one of the (imo 100% BS) reasons the Mavs gave was because Luka was injured, and then they trade him for an aging star player with an even bigger injury history, that’s the main issue.
@jayanthsambaraju6562 yeah I looked at Luka stats and the man literally averaged 33 pog and led them to the finals and he's not even 26 yet. And you trade him within the conference to THE LAKERS of all places. It's weird how teams continue to add to the Lakers history by trading there franchise players to them smh
@@jayanthsambaraju6562 It wasn't injuries with Luka. It was a lack of conditioning, a lack of defense, and incessant chirping at officials/shifting blame elsewhere/failure to take accountability. Brian Windhorst and Tim MacMahon did a deep dive about it this morning.
Also... speaking of "injury prone", Mark Williams (aka AD's replacement) has played 84 out of a possible 212 games since he was drafted. Food for thought, Lakers fans

To me the fact that Nico Harrison only negociated with the Laker is the strengest. Nico said about defense and physique. Well, there is a guy that has two MVPs, a DPOY, is a champion, do not get hurt and is one year younger than AD. That guy is Giannis Antetokounmpo. I'm not saying that Milwaukee would accepted this trade but why do not even try? Even Jokic. Those guys wouldn't be better than AD? Again, I just think that is strange do not even give it a shot
It stinks. The longer I think about it, the more the whole situation becomes fishy af. Even if you WANT AD and you'll only take him, you still make trade negotiations public, that way they pressure the Lakers to give more. Doing it without anyone else knowing just makes ZERO sense.
Nico is either the biggest idiot GM in recent history, or he's corrupt... I can't see how it isn't one or the other.

I got an opinion, but it's always interesting hearing your takes, if you think it is worthy of a video or something. There was one report that said Luka was offered to one other team but they refused(don't buy the report personally it'd have been leaked well before the trade if it happened) Milwaukee would be the likeliest team they called if it's true.
They did approach Milwaukee for the Gianni’s trade, but they got turned down
You should 100% go to the Mavs-Lakers game, the opportunity to see a revenge game of this caliber should not be missed. Might be on the Kobe vs Shaq game in 2005 in terms of revenge storylines in a regular season game

I still can’t believe the Mavs gave away Luka like that. I hate they traded him to the team I hate the most. Even though I’m a Dallas native, I’m not supporting the Mavs until the owners and Nico Harrison is fired. I want Luka to destroy the Mavs everytime he plays them.

It's still not groundbreaking, but it is interesting that the trade has reached that far. We are gonna see lawyers and business negotiators making content on this trade.

Great facts throughout. I didn't know that the trade was on the anniversary of the Gasol trade. That is quite the coincidence. My original thought was that Luka would have a positive long-term impact for the Lakers. But, you make a great point about how he might not stay (especially if the Lakers don't do well over the next couple years). If he stays, I definitely think he'll have a great long-term impact.
The comparison between Luka and other 25 year olds is intriguing. Davis will bring rebounding and defense, and he will help them. But, I'm not sure if they'll win a championship. Even if they do, as you indicated before, Davis is going to turn 32 soon and they definitely mortgaged their long term future.

Honestly, having a casino owning a sports franchise seems like a conflict of interest. Management can take bets then as the game starts switch out players, have a player benched, whatever to ensure certain numbers are or are not met.

@ insane slashing efficiency and insane midrange efficiency. At an all time level for a guard. he said himself he cared too much about efficiency before this insane stretch of 7/8 games. Will be seeing a lot more 50bombs in the near future. As well as his above average on ball defence and elite hands on defence. A complete guard of his era, and without the second best player on the team missing majority of the season

Hey Jonny, big question from a long time subscriber: On the chance that Luka does go to Denver to play with Jokic, and they become a dynasty winning let's say 4 championships how does this affect their legacy? A common concern with Superstar team-ups is that it hurts their legacies and while we saw this isn't entirely true as seen with Durant and Curry (excluding the backlash towards KD lol) it still remains a concern for many people.

While I will miss Knecht Rob Pelinka immediately getting the ideal center Luka wanted is a good thing not only does Williams fill an immediate need for our roster it's also signaling to Luka we will cater to him and increase the likelihood of him signing an extension, Pelinka manages to convince Luka to do that we got nothing to worry about.
Its crazy, because when you have Luka on your team…..you’re ALWAYS one good player away from competing for a title. No matter what your roster is besides your top 5 player, add another all-star and a couple of good role players, and you’re in the conference finals most years.
I just don’t believe we are getting all the story here. Every team in the league that doesn’t have one of the top 5 guys, wishes they did. There are teams that would have given up 1st round picks for the next 3-4 years just to rent Luka.

Even if Luka does leave, I don't think losing AD is a big deal - he's injury prone and that's likely not going to get better with age. The Lakers were gifted a potential get-out-of-jail-free card.
A lot of people who don't really know a lot about basketball are only seeing Lukas offensive talent.
Luka is literally on polar ends of the basketball skill spectrum: legendary good on offense, but insanely bad on defense. Also, i know lukas teammates were AWFUL hitting shots in the finals, but now the Mavs are going to be a far better & balanced offensive team. Celtics exploited those weaknesses BAD in the finals.
Taking out their their best scorer and facilitator and making an old Kyrie take up the load probably wont end well. The narrative that Luka lost them the finals is just silly when he's the only Maverick who turned up the rest of them couldn't buy a bucket. It's ridiculous to blame defence when only one of your players can average over 20 against a team of all stars. Meanwhile people are going around pretending like AD is Hakeem Olajuwon when in the last couple of seasons he's done nothing but get cooked by Jokic and beg for help.

I think Dallas' biggest fumble was not getting more for Luka. Not sure why Dallas put secrecy above almost everything else.

The Mavs could roll off a 3-peat and Nico Harrison will still be the most hated man in Dallas sports history. The Mark Cuban Mavs were a statement on loyalty in professional sports and the second he leaves, entire generations of Mavs fans who've only know that are backstabbed and robbed of our identity. This move was not done by the Mavs, it was done by one man who destroyed 27 years of culture building in a 3 week span.

Be interesting to see who runs the offence Lebron or Luka. Lebron is better off ball than Luka because of his athleticism but Luka is a better shot creature than Lebron. Luka definitely getting the ball if the game is on the line tho.

Lakers started to play really good. Did they need this. Two way player like Davis in this rotation. Who s gonna take the ball between Luka and Lebron? Is one ball enough for them?
LeBron made it work with both Wade and Kyrie he'll make it work with Luka. AD's biggest flaw on this team was for whatever reason he was never able to be the consistent #1 option for us which is what everybody including LeBron wanted to happen, that's not going to be a problem with Luka.

I think AD and LeBron for Luka + young players/picks would have been more than fair. If the Mavs win a title, then this trade won't be such a diaster! I just don't think they are better than the pack. If LeBron were a Mav, however, that would be a different story.
