    Kroy sock yarn is awesome! I have made several pairs of socks using it and it wears well. I machine wash and dry and have had no issues with it at all. It is very affordable and easy to find. Sometimes you just need good hardwearing socks, nothing fancy, and Kroy fits the bill.

    I am keen for a low buy year debrief! I'm trying to do a no buy this year but i'm already in struggle town 😣

    Hi Jenny. You are the second person in a week to say they were loving the Kroy sock. Guess I will have to give it a try
    My knitting goal for this year is not necessarily low buy or no buy, but more intentional buying and knitting. I’m trying to assess my wardrobe and knit what I need and try and knit those items from stash if possible. I also want ( to try) to buy yarn for specific projects and not just because it’s so pretty.
    We shall see. 😜

    That is so true that the baby bear bonnet is so confusing but always turns out in the end (I’ve knit 3 now, plus the baby bear suit, which actually has a slightly different construction for the hood). So smart to forgo the mohair - my baby always tries to take her bonnet off because she doesn’t like the mohair 😅. I wouldn’t worry about the strings - it’s really nice to be able to fasten the bonnet on and the parents can tie them loosely. I actually way prefer bonnets with ties to hats for this reason!

    Second sock syndrome... that's bad. I could never knit one sock and then a pair for it. Nope. Also, I don't like magic looping two socks on one needle. So I always have either two sets of dpn's OR two circular needles and then I knit two socks simultaneously. First the cuffs, then the leg part, both heels etc. So two socks finished and I've almost conned myself to think I've only knit one sock! 😁

    You could fix the cat hat with duplicate stitch. Or embroidery over that spot with a contrast color. For summer socks, give bamboo pop sock a try. Affordable and wears like iron. Not good for winter though, even here in Austin.

      I recently tried Berocco’s Mohair - Aerial. Highly recommend. Super soft, not too sheddy. Paired it with an 80/20 merino nylon sock and the result was heavenly.

    That colour you were wondering about at approx 29 mins, would be called beige by most people I think.

    drops kid silk is too itchy for me, i made an entire terrazzo sweater with it and i’ve only worn it once bc the hairs are so prickly 😅

    • @futurefiber
      @futurefiber  5 месяцев назад

      yeah I feel like it gets worse depending on the color too?? I wouldn't dare make any turtlenecks with kid silk though lol

    While I love high contrast, esp b&w, I’m so afraid of bleeding. What’s your thought/experience?

    • @futurefiber
      @futurefiber  5 месяцев назад +1

      I am afraid of this too!!💀 I don't think I would ever do black & white with natural fiber yarns, but the black acrylic didn't seem to bleed when I washed it previously so I just went for it. I have a blue and white stripe cardigan that bled into each other a little (wool) but I just made sure to swatch test before committing and not leaving it soaking for too long. Hope this helpss

    How is the holstgarn? Looks like a decent price point but I'm wondering about the quality

      I got both the supersoft and the wool/silk and they are both hard for me to wear against the skin. I think would be good for colorwork but suuuper light fingering. So holding it double it a must for me. I didn't finish either project I started in these yarns, even though the colors are beautiful. Would not buy again...

    • @futurefiber
      @futurefiber  5 месяцев назад +1

      yeah I'm not sure why the name is "supersoft" because it's kind of... anything but that haha. I find that it gets softer with wash but I think depending on how sensitive you are with wool this might be a pass! (Eg. I can wear Jamieson & smith 2ply against my skin but I know some people find it super itchy)

    I love your videos and seeing you talk about knitting but the last few have had a really high pitched sound in the background that makes it really hard for me to watch. 😢 I feel bad leaving this comment lol I don’t want to be negative. Hopefully you hear the sound as well. It’s especially noticeable on my tv

    • @futurefiber
      @futurefiber  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for this comment! I honestly had no idea until a couple people told me because I tend to keep my audio volume pretty low during editing + reviewing, so I appreciate you letting me know 😭 I figured out the problem so hopefully it will be resolved in the next videos - feel free to skip this one 🫡
