@@brianmcgauley2664 this is possible with a computer/laptop that has multiple USB or usb-c ports. The easy way to do this (but your phone/tablet/computer will need to have the internal space to do this) is.... - connect your X4 to your device (i.e. phone/tablet or computer) - copy the files onto your device from your X4 (make a folder if that's what you prefer) - PROPERLY remove the X4 from your device - connect your quick reader to the same device - find the folder with the X4 files in it and copy them to the quick reader. I could make a straight to the point video on how this looks in person but I am going to need like 9hrs because I am currently driving and will be for the next 8hrs

@@Jonasegway Thanks; I prefer to use my iPad over my cell for editing, so that will be fine. The only downside is having to remove everything to open the battery, but I can live with that.

Because you can with android devices, I would imagine you could with apple devices to (@ transfer files In and out of your apple device if you plugged a hard drive into it). Basically the SD Card reader is an SD card reader. I use my SD Card reader to move video files and store files. You have to insert a mini SD card with whatever size storage you want to use. When it comes to SD Storage cards go I have a 512gb card in mine. I cannot find the specs but I remember seeing on insta360's website you could use up to 1tb in these card readers. I use an Amazon basics 512gb card in mine and have for around 7months. So I know you could store up to at least 512gb. If you decide to buy the quick reader, by the quick reader for the X4 camera because it has higher specs for the X3 camera as far as performance

This reader DOES connect to an android phone. The usb-c side is the same size I use when I connect it to my android phone/tablet. However...if you have a bulky protector over your android phone, you will probably need to get one of those mini usb-c male to usb-c female adapters to give this quick reader clearance to plug into the usb-c port of your android device because many phone cases are too thick to allow connection to the phone. I use these. You could use these or something like this. Just make sure it is a usb-c male to usb-c female adapter. Question 1: So you want to use ANY quick reader as a general SD Card reader? So another way I use the quick readers is... I'll record footage on my AcePro without any quick readers and then when I am done recording, I will take the SD card out of the AcePro, put it in a quick reader made for the insta360 X3 and use the quick reader to transfer/edit the AcePro 's footage using the insta360 app. So...I took the quick reader for the insta360 X4, put an SD Card into it from my Sony Zv1 and was able to transfer/view files recorded from my Sony ZV1 using the insta360 X4 quick reader. With the insta360ap using my Samsung Galaxy fold 5 "fully updated" Although I recorded in 8k, it would not let me export in any resolution higher then 4k with a 150mb but rate. How fast does the X4 quick reader transfer to the phone? My Go 3 quick reader only transfers about 30-40MB/s to my iPhone. Which is about the same speed as transferring with WiFi.
So the X4 via U-Disk Mode Writes at 50-55 MB/s. Read: 64-72 MB/sec. A high speed SD card reader would still net you much faster speeds (like closer to 100mb/s). I use the quick reader so I don't have to use up camera battery to do edits. Just plug the reader to my tablet and get to business. Hope that answers your question?

I got a peak 80mb/s but sustained 74mb/s on the read speeds and a peak 89mb/s with a constant 84mb/s on the write speeds. This was direct from the quick reader using insta360's 512gb memory card (v30, A2, UHS1 memory card) to my Samsung Galaxy fold 5 while in the insta360 x4's quick reader transferring a 4k 30fps video with the bitrate at 150. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Ok so here is your official answer (because I have both X3 and X4 quick readers with me right here). The x3's quick reader can AND cannot work with the X4 camera. Let me explain.... The x3 quick reader WILL not physically plug into the X4 camera (insta360 purposely designed them slightly different so either quick reader would NOT physically connect into either camera). However....you could always take the memory card out of either the X3 or the X4 camera (or even the AcePro) and put the memory card into ANY of these quick readers and plug it into your editing device (whether it's an android phone, PC, ORR Apple device) and perform your editing/file transfers. However.....the X3 and X4 quick readers do have lightning cable male ends built into them. So the x4's quick reader DOES have the lightning male end as well as USBC like the x3's quick reader does. If you need to see this in a 15second video i have no problem showing you this. But I have all of the quick readers with me for the X3/X4/1 RS 1" cams
So If you think you will store your camera in a bag with other equipment, I would say get the screen protector. If not just at least get the lens silicone cover. I have both because I have cracked two GoPro screens while being stored in a crowded camera gear bag

When finish recording the videos from your x4, take the SD card out of your Camera and insert it into the quick reader and then edit your videos using the quick reader. Wbat I do is, I'll record videos with my X4 (without the quick reader). When I am done with my recordings, I'll take the SD card out of my camera, put it in the quick reader and then connect the quick reader to my tablet and edit the videos this way.

You can edit your videos....put them on the quick reader and transfer them to another device. If you recorded your videos with a camera with the quick reader installed and edit the videos on the SD card reader with your cellphone. The edits performed will only save to your cellphone if you did not export the videos. If you connect that same quick reader to a different cellphone, your non-exported videos will not have any edits and will be the original "unedited" videos

No. You have to take the memory card out of the quick reader in order to get your footage into the quick reader. Remember the quick reader doesn't have any internal storage. You have to have a memory card installed inside of the quick reader. Another option is to connect your camera and quick reader to your computer/laptop and maybe you could manually transfer your files from your camera's memory card to the memory card you have inside of the quick reader.

You only need to download the app and follow the instructions on how to connect your camera to your phone wirelessly. The quick reader works in two ways. 1. You put your SD card into the quick reader and then connect your quick reader to your camera with the USB-C port. When you use the quick reader like this, the video will save onto the SD card inside of the quick reader. 2. After you record the videos into the quick reader, you can disconnect the quick reader from your camera and connect it to your phone. After you connect the quick reader to your phone, your phone will ask you if you want it to open the insta360 app so it could find the files. After your first time doing this, the app will ask you what folder do you want it to look in for your videos so you will need to select that folder. After that, you should be able to do quick edits with the insta360 app and then export the videos you've edited into your phone's internal memory.

The reason I ask is my iPad is lightning not usbc and the quick reader x4 is not lightning
