- I love my Insta360 gear and one of the cool things is that Insta360 is making a lot of accessories. One of the newest accessories that Insta360 has created is their new Insta360 One X2 Quick Reader. So the real question is what is the Insta360 One X2 Quick Reader for? How do you use the Insta360 One X2 Quick Reader? And is this something that every one of us 360 shooters needs? hmm.. get 2 of those for a fastswap with the extended battery selfiestick, also external card can lower chance of overheating from long recording in hotter climates.
Nice video. Why not just buy a USB3.0 type-C smartphone card reader for like $5 then get another 128GB or 256GB micro-sd card?

Cool video, well done. I bought it but my google pixel phone does not support exFAT unfortunately. Can i use it instead for faster data transfer to my laptop if i plug it in directly to my laptop ?

i just plug the camera to a usb hub + phone and set it as quickreader mode. i think it does the same
I'm doing that. use a good USB-type C cable (highspeed). the speed improves but I think this quick reader is much more faster.
Looks a good bit of kit, I was thinking your neon light strip would look good if you could shape it into you GT symbol.

i have an iphone and ipad pro. I love editing on the ipad pro but it had a USB-C port. Perhaps a converter would work. Can it transfer to and from the port that plugs into the Insta360 One X2 or only the lightening plug?

so heres a question I don't think was talked about . so I use iPhone to edit so when I transfer the footage from the x4 to my iPhone I notice a big quality drop in the footage . so will using this quick reader save the quality I wish to have
Do you have to use the quick reader to edit directly through the 360 app? Or can I just throw a card reader in the lightning port of the iPhone to communicate to the 360 app? Asking, because I have a card reader for my iPhone, and I definitely don’t see files/import/external card etc… in the 360 app. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense. But yeah, any info helps. @@Denox78 so I ended up grabbing the quick reader. Makes things soooo much easier. Flawless connection and launches insta360 app when plugged in.
It looks like a pretty handy little device if for no reason other than it leaves the Insta 360 internal storage open.
If you are using the Quick Reader and it fills up the SD card, does it automatically switch back to internal storage? Does it give you an alert when the SD card is filling up?
Good quesion ill have to test that out to see what happens

If i make a few recordings and use this quick reader to upload them to my phone does it then free up space on the sd card?
insta360 saves on the internal memory of the phone. not on the phones sd card. we have been requesting insta360 to add the feature to save/export to phone sd card since 2022. its now 2024 and yet this feature is not yet included.
Hi Greg, thanks for the review 👍 But have you thought about using an USB-C to Lightning cable and load directly to your iPhone? It is a pity that you have not bought your Insta360-OneX2 in Apple Store, because only this special version allows it. Bad that I have not bought it in Apple store as well. 😞 And very bad the this Quick Reader is not water tight.
Actually Insta360 sent me the camera to review. So this way should work very well.

bro, I'm using USB-C ( hi-speed cable bought from carrefour) it works and much faster than wi-fi/Bluetooth . But I think this quick reader is more faster based on what Greg have shown in the video. I will try to get one of this quick reader and try it out. it took me ages to transfer and edit my videos. have a nice day .
Unfortunately it's a no go with the iPad and USB C. Hope the upcoming iOS 16 allows

I realy can see the advantages of this.
For me the biggest advantage would be speed. Moving the footage to your phone wirelessly is slow. This speeds the process up a lot.
Can you use this with power selfie stick ?
Sure not.. Microphone and that also choice. I got one anyway🤭

I mean, could you not just use the apple reader and use it in the app anyways?
8:55 Ahh, this is where you are wrong! I find it to be IMPOSSIBLE to edit a 10 or 20 minute video using the app and then be able to export a massive file. With this device, as you suggest, I can edit directly to the card. So... I'm gonna go buy a card reader now. I hope this works. Otherwise, the phone app is completely useless, since I can't export any videos.
this is great because smartphones have limited internal memory. Programmers have not yet figured out how to export to phone sd card or they want users to buy this device which adds more weight to the insta360.
This is why I don't want to switch the a new phone. I have 128GB internal, but the SD slot has a 512GB card in it... somehow I still filled it up 😅
Maybe someone explained this b/c i learned this while watching. 1) my iphone could not read my SD card from the camera until I used it once in the reader attached to the X3 (go figure) and 2) I am using this b/c I want to use the Starlapse theme and it is only aviable on the phone when the phone is on WIFI or cell data. I cannot get to the theme unless I read the video off the card b/c I have data in Manila. If the phone is attached via WIFI no Starlapsed mode. Oh, no Starlapsed mode on the Windows app for Insta360
it sucks you can't use it directly to your lap top
One point I would like to let people know is that if you have a phone case, then you can't plug this reader into your phone without removing the case, not a big problem, but it is a pain in the proverbial.
Quite a lot of people have phone cases, so it's not as if it is only me that is going to have this problem.

Your video is great BUT one thing. Quick Reader will NOT allow the import to Ipad, only iPhone. That sucks and is another con job as far as I can see.
I purchased this quick reader.. I inserted my 1tb memory card & the quick reader destroyed it... I wouldn't recommend this
In what way did it destroy the 1TB card?
