- Join me as I kick-start my routine again for fall. Getting pieces out to gallery exhibitions and beginning a new one with some prep. Even when our progress feels scattered, the little efforts here and there build up and are worth everything. I struggle to do the odds and ends kind of activities in my art practice, when time at the easel painting is my real joy. But remembering the value in each little step of progress helps. All of the success, big beautiful art and style development starts here in saying yes to the challenges that come next, especially the little invisible ones.
A couple things about me if you're new. I'm a full time artist living in Illinois currently and have my bfa in product design. I work in acrylic with subjects centering around spaces and moments in my day to day life, I have an affinity for good design whether it be in furniture, architecture or even ordinary systems and routines. I believe beauty can come from anywhere and there is great joy/value in bringing our true selves out in the creative process.
''I frankensteined...'' First time I hear that expression...that floored me! Congratulations on your two paintings being accepted into the show. When I first stumbled upon your channel, nearly a year ago, you were in the preliminary stages of that painting of your brother, so I feel happy for you to see the finished product being exhibited.
It just popped out of my mouth, not sure if I've heard that expression in person either but it sure works! Thank you for following the whole journey of that painting, it was satisfying to see it hung in public. Glad you're here still :)

Honestly I was a bit confused on that, one got announced as winner of the gallery award but on my papers it says the other one won the distinction award ...I didn't bother to figure it out yet. For now I will pretend it's both 😅😂 Just to have the pieces there was an honor though :)
