  • Is The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid Better Than Ever? [Car Review]
The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid has quietly landed on Philippine shores, and it has some marginal improvements over the regular Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. In this Filipino car review, we take a deep look into the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 pro Hybrid to see what improvements were made to this mild hybrid SUV. The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 pro Hybrid uses a 48V mild hybrid system with a belt starter generator similar to the Geely Okavango and the Geely Azkarra. When it comes to the drive feel, the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro hybrid does not feel any different from the regular gasoline Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, especially on the highway. The biggest difference can be felt around the city, since the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro hybrid has a start stop system that shuts down the car when idling in traffic. This start stop system helps the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 pro hybrid to save some fuel around the city.

Thanks for the review. I need my AC on 90 percent of the time. Mild hybrid doesn't work for me.

How about the Dongfeng Forthing Friday EV known as Forthing Leiting in China, a BEV version of Forthing T5 Evo compact CUV. Compared to MG Marvel R EV in its dimensions, it is 74mm shorter (4,600mm), 59mm narrower (1,860mm), 89mm shorter wheelbase (2,715mm), but it has 62mm taller (1,680mm).

    Nice review sir.
Planning on getting one by the end of the year. Warranty negates my bias against the build quality of china made cars.
Question lang sir, what specific giti tires are in those 18 inch shoes?
    Thank you

same price or just a tiny price difference vs Nissan Kicks or Yaris Cross or the incoming MG 4.. id rather pick the above-mentioned vs tiggo 7Pro.. Nissa give 14km/l in city traffic..

I'll rather get the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid. Same engine performance, seating capacity, almost the same looks but shorter but big difference in the price. 200k the least.

dude may i ask if you're on park and you want to use the infotainment for a bit long, does it means that you dont have to worry about the battery being discharge as l0ng as youre on idle start/stop?

Engine starts up automatically when the reserve charge is depleted so no worries on using the electronics. 😊

I was so excited with tiggo 7 pro hybrid when they launch it and tried to get in touch with agents who are clueless at that time. But when I see the unit in person, it was a let down and a deal breaker. It was a mild hyrid lang pala, parang GCR/Oka lng. If they could launch a full hybrid and price it around the 1.5 to 1.6 million I would be much happier, along with the likes of toyota yaris hev and top variant of nissan kicks and GWM Haval Jolion. And now they intruduced the Tiggo 7 pro PHEV e+ but priced at 2 million😢. A 5 seater with 2m price tag should offer much better features not just an engine configuration but also creature confort.

They won't offer a "pure" hybrid. Most Chinese carmakers do not invest in internal combustion anymore; that's why most of them just outsource engines from Cummins, Isuzu, Fiat, and Mitsubishi. Their current focus is on BEVs, as recently almost half of new cars sold in China are BEVs.

@@StarsStripes-vh7kw I reckon you should not spread false information if you are not well inform regards to Chery's engine. Their engines are developed in partnership with other car makers, not outsourced, and with NONE of the ones you mentioned.
Their current focus IS on BEV's, but not the reason you implied.

@@CaptainChristianZ1818 Dude, what are you talking about? I'd appreciate clarification on how I might be spreading misinformation. I intentionally left out specific references like ACTECO, focusing on broader trends. It's noteworthy that their current strategic emphasis on BEVs aligns with goals of reducing air pollution, decreasing dependence on imported oil, and fostering technological innovation in the electric vehicle sector. China's much talked about oil reserves are estimated at approximately 25-30 billion barrels, while daily oil consumption hovers around 14 million barrels. My use of 'they' referred to the industry/market/country at large, not solely a specific company. When I mentioned 'MOST OF THEM,' I was alluding to the broader industry/market/country, highlighting the prevalent trend of outsourcing engines from Cummins, Isuzu, etc. Please try to read my comment again, I never suggested Chery can't do ICE technologies or form partnerships. Additionally, I did acknowledge Fiat's significant role in assisting Chery. China has become a global leader in renewable energy, investing heavily in solar and wind power projects. For cars, China is promoting the adoption of electric vehicles with subsidies, implementing supportive policies, and encouraging the development of charging infrastructure. The government's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 has further accelerated efforts in clean energy and electric mobility, making China a key player in the global transition towards sustainable practices.

@@CaptainChristianZ1818 Was I not clear when I said, “Most Chinese carmakers do not invest in internal combustion anymore”? This essentially means that the ICE technology is considered outdated, and they are seeking something new, more profitable, and innovative, such as BEVs. They are in that perfect position right now as they're growing really fast. I apologize if that wasn't clear to you. When I mentioned that they “just outsource” (or, as you mentioned, form partnerships), it implies that they are seeking solutions for the interim period while buyers transition from ICE to BEVs since investing in ICE may not be as profitable in the long term. Just so you know, ICE cars are big contributors to air pollution and those greenhouse gas emissions. A bunch of countries are cracking down on this by getting serious about emissions rules and fuel efficiency standards. People are also really into eco-friendly cars these days. Thanks to better battery tech, electric cars are getting more affordable and efficient, becoming a cool alternative to the usual gas guzzlers. Governments everywhere are jumping on the green bandwagon, pushing for more EVs to tackle carbon emissions and fight climate change. Even though lots of car companies are all about electric and hybrid stuff now, keep in mind, we're slowly moving away from the regular engines, but they'll probably stick around in the car scene for a bit.

@@StarsStripes-vh7kw I know what you said, but the big 4 car companies of China in a broader sense, do not outsource their engines. SAIC Motors, DAW Group, Dongfeng and Chang'an all have their collaboration and partnership to development cars (body, engines etc etc) with various big car companies and that is a large chunk of the car industry of China.
So who exactly outsourced their engines?? Can you be more specific?

Won't the sudden stop and start affect the turbo? I think this is one reason why Toyota don't put Turbo in their Hybrid cars.

    • @ReygansRides

Most Euro cars have turbos and have a 48V hybrid start stop system, and there's no turbo issues with these cars.

    I feel your disappointed😅
You bought a Hybrid version kasi gusto mo maka-save sa gas money, Pero ayaw mong mainitan sa traffic where the MHEV functions kaya i-off mo din yung feature na yun, oh diba? 🤪🤣
Also, others crams to buy this before because they were told that it's coding exempted because it's a "hybrid"🤦
Antayin nalang nilang ilabas yung PHEV version kung gusto talagang makatipid.
Tiggo 7Pro I.C.E version owner here. And i honestly find this version meh.
