The SuperEZ is my all-time (overall) favorite plane. If I could only have one plane, this would be it. It is fun at the flying field, or it does just as good in a smaller area. - I have flown mine just using the infield portion of a baseball field - The large wheels with no skirts makes it handle mid-length grassy areas just fine) It fly's about 60mph and is capable of mild 3-D flying. It can manage 15 minute flights on a 2200 pack (with a little throttle management). It is fantastic on very calm days. The one draw back, is it is super light, so it does not do very well if the winds are over 15mph. I have been suggesting to FMS to come out with a version that has lights and flaps. (Perhaps one version as it is, and then the advanced version with the flaps and lights) - If they added those two items, I would put it as the best beginner/intermediate plane out there for the money. (While it does not need the flaps, they would be a nice touch.) I have seen folks use a 4s 2200 battery in it, though I have not tried it myself.
That’s a good plane I used to have :) but packed it in now back flying again so bought the Turbo timber evolution that is one good plane although a lot dearer than the fms
A reasonable review of the plane Nate, but you left out a load of features. I have one of these exact same v4 EZ planes and it flies great. I also fly on 2200mah 3S, but as others have said you can wake it up even more by using slightly lower capacity batteries. On 2200mah mine seems more agile than yours. It does not have unlimited vertical, but has very good power and climb rate (and it climbs straight). Having said that, I changed the prop. The stock one also made the noise yours did, even after balancing. I changed to another prop of the same spec, but different appearance, and it flies much quieter and I think it is what is giving me better performance. You did not mention that it comes with the excellent FMS Reflex gyro built in, which gives stabilised and "AS3X" features, as well as a fully manual mode where the gyro is not operating. It works very well and certainly for beginners would make this plane an easy first plane to fly. Sorry to be a bore, but you also did not mention the main reason I got this plane. The wing has easy fixings and comes off in a matter of seconds using the two thumb screws on the top. This makes storage and transport a breeze. I bought the plane because of this. Transporting (and for me even more importantly, storing) bigger planes is a total pain if the wings don't come off easily. This one is so easy and it is a major feature that you totally missed. As someone else said, please do fit the floats and fly on water, you could then recap on the features you missed. I have not flown it on water yet, but plan to do so. It does knife edge incredibly (better than my ability to knife edge consistently well) and also flies inverted very well. The price point (although up from when I bought mine) also makes it very good value for money, as you pointed out. Love mine and I always take it to the field to fly. Sorry to be a little critical. Still a good review, but I do feel you missed on important points about the plane, especially if you are talking it being a first plane candidate. Love your channel and approach.
These are very important additions and incomprehensible that they weren’t addressed in the video… especially the gyro system is a very important aspect for beginners. Such a shame these aspects weren’t reviewed. So thank you for pointing this out!
@@wisecoonie Thanks @wise. For information in case it is useful for anyone and because I should have included this in my comment, the prop I use is an APC 10x5E (LP10050E). I bought one as a "spare" at the time I bought the airplane and then ended up switching to it after finding the stock prop a little noisy. I was glad I did, because the APC prop was both quieter (I still needed to balance it because it was slightly off, but then most props are) and gave better performance than the stock prop. The stock prop is now relegated to "second spare" since I bought another of the APC props in case I ever need it. On the point of the wings, having seen Nate's excellent Arrows T28 video a little while ago I was so sorely tempted to buy it, but did some checking of videos from others and found out that wings are a total pain to put on the first place due to inadequate bolts, but absolutely not realistically installable at the field if taken off for storage. Hence, although I love the look of the plane and REALLY want one, it is non-starter for me... :(
You know, I did completely over look the amazing “twist screws” that hold the main wing on! I guess I take for granted our mid-sized SUV and didn’t think to talk about that feature at all. That one is on me! And regarding the reflex stabilizer, believe it or not mine just didn’t come with that at all! I thought maybe it was supposed to, but didn’t know for a fact or not which is why I didn’t discuss it in this video. Guess QC missed this one! 😬😅⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors You got a Friday afternoon one then Nate! FMA website definitely states that it comes with the V2 reflex gyro. Maybe the guy/girl that sticks those in ran out. Gary has one he took out of his FMS Zero(!), but I know you don't need it. I fly mine in "AS3X-like" mode for everything except take-off and landing where I like to think the gyro helps ensure stability. The ability to switch into stabilised mode mid-flight is useful for any occasion where I loose orientation though. Due to the size/colour scheme of this plane that does not tend to happen, but I like having the comfort blanket! Thanks for taking the time to reply and for making all your superb content.
The SuprEZ V2 was my first plane. Great trainer, with no bad habits. It is a slow flier, which is what a new pilot needs. It does basic aerobatics, slowly. The full throttle noise is prop flutter, replacing the prop fixed that.
Thanks for your noise level comments, they are very useful to many of us. Some of us use noise sensitive fields, some are surrounded by Karens, and some just don't want to attract spectators when we try to focus on what we do. And noise level is very hard to assess via RUclips videos. So those noise remarks are invaluable.
FMS does a pretty good job on their planes. I like the color. Something a little different and brighter appearance. Seems to be a solid flyer. Nice and gentle for the most part. Floats included, is a nice plus. Thank you. Have a great Labor Day weekend. God bless.
Okay, so, Watched your channel all the time when I started flying and you sure taught me a lot and even got me to buy an off road rc car. But... Now you are always so advanced with your flying and always wanting 4S and more power and speed and I am just a weekend flyer. Personally, my favorite is 2S, like the Turbo Timber and a wing I had that went 70mps on 2S. I will keep checking yours out, but I am going to watch more 1 and 2S stuff because that is what I like to fly. Still love your videos and refer to them but I personally just have little interest in 3 or 4S even though I have an Apprentice, I rarely fly it, it's just a lot of airplane and I like simple :)
This plane taught me to fly and I've always enjoyed it. It's very stable in the air, but being a tail dragger forced me to practice good rudder control, which has served me well, especially once I moved up to cubs and warbirds, which can be unforgiving, unlike this beautiful bird. Great video RcSaylors.
I upgraded my Super Ez to 4s and it made a pretty big difference. A video on Spectrum set up and how to achieve level smooth flight both on the plane and electronically would be Super Awesome! Love the channel and keep up the great work!
It won’t be my first airplane, but being out of the hobby for awhile, I’m gonna go with the hobbyzone aeroscout. I just really like the pusher prop, cause it reminds me of my aerobird 3. I had the most fun flying that plane cause you could chop the throttle & she would glide so well. 😎
Purchased the FMS EZ RTF version from Fair RC. Shipping was within 5 days! I had a couple of questions about using the TX with RealFlight Evolution and support answered them within 24 hrs. So far, so good!
I have the V1 or V2 don't remember, and it's the most versatile little "trainer" style plane around, very gentle and forgiving when flown calmy, but pretty capable when you push it. Assembly at the field takes 2min max, the one pièce wing fits in a ordinary little car, and the clips that bolts the wing on fuselage are easy and stiff. I went from an multiplex easystar, which was my very first rc plane, to this one and it built my confidence being a so good trainer, you can do good aerobatics, inverted, and be aggressive, it will hold on. Being light the wind can affect it especially on ground (taxi and takeoff) , but once again it handle wind very well once in the air. If your looking for a good first or second rc plane GO FOR IT ! V4 is even better.
Needs more power and slightly larger control surfaces. My friend had an older version of this (different company). I saw him pull a fullv90 degree vertical off the wall of a stadium to prevent a crash. More authority on that other version.
I’ve purchased a plane and a part and it was great. I had a question and they got back to me within 24 hours and a bonus there FMS prices are lower than horizon hobby.
Way cool even the RTF for the size $250 this price does include the floats as well like the PNP (not total frown.) Kind of like an intermediate level you have been flown some would like to step up and not break the bank, yes I can see this
Really good question! No we haven’t stopped, just sort of got behind on videos for a while and the chase shots take a lot more time to get so sadly they got the back burner. It’s funny you mention this though because a new plane releases soon and we are hoping to get chase shots of it when it comes out! We were just talking about our chase shots last night 😉👍😁😎⚓️
FAIR RC is a good company if you purchase off thier site. I've made 3 or 4 purchases from them. Biggest pain is they require a signature for any shipment. But DO NOT purchase from them on Amazon, the prices are jacked up by 30 to 50 percent.
My first rcplane was a QB15H2, 3,5ccm fuel/glowengine, 1500mm wingspan selfmade balsaplane from scratch. It flew twice before my clumsy brother fell on it.
Love this Plane so beautiful! Thanks for the video! As first plane I would recommend TrainStar Ascent or TrainStar Epoch, it’s really cheap, under $200 and high quality. My dream is the Husky Ultimate, one day Imma buy one, the 6S batteries are too expensive 🥲
Fms ez trainer Is one off the best trainer, but nead 1300 Mah to 1500 Mah 3 s battery then is preaety faset plane. 2200 Mah is to havy battery for them. I got 10 minut flight with 1300 Mah smart baterry from spektrum! I have two off them v1 and v2. V2 got batter more powerful motor from v1. Good as first trainer.
This plane DOES fly on 4s. I've flown the v2 on 4s using 1300mah packs and never had a drama. Of course, I wasn't on full tilt for 10 seconds at a time because even at 3/4 throttle, this bird can move on 4s. So if anyone's waiting for it to be on 4s, don't. Just buy it, learn on it on 3s, then when you're ready add a 1300mah or 1800mah 4s pack and have lots of high powered close-in fun!
I have a Predator 1300mah and mine is super snappy and will climb out of sight like... right now! It's no where close to as smooth as yours. Mine will snap roll the wind off if I'm not careful! Yours flys like a trainer. Mine does not. It's balanced well for the CG and flys best about 30% throttle. I have the control horns as far out as they can go and control is still super "overly sensitive". Sporty? For sure. I do NOT understand the transmitter and there are no instructions anywhere. I don't know if I've if the switches changes the their sensitivity or not... it doesn't seem to make a difference. If you have any tools... I'd appreciate that. Thank you!
Nath, Its not the battery that is causing the issue, it is the thurst line. These cheap model knot off are not fully set up for airobarics. You fly great Join the AMA SPA look it up. We are hosting one at JCRC soon Look it up at AMA events.
Have you guys ever reviewed the mini APPRENTICE 2 from Horizon Hobby?! I haven't seen any video on your channel unless I'm missing it! If not will you do 1?! I would love to get your feedback about it!
@@TheRcSaylors your welcome, you give an honest opinion on the planes, makes it easier to figure out which plane to get next. I am having binding issues for safe though, I'm just using the dxs transmitter
It flew fairly well. Liked all the colors. So Nate it isn't the plane's fault it has a ( Dumb ) Regular receiver. You might hurt it's Little 💔🫀💔 ( battery ) & it might crash from a broken 💔💔. So Alway's consider it's feelings as part of the Pre- Flight check. 😏. Another great flying Saylor day & Another great videoing Saylor day. That's a Double great Saylor's day. ⚓⚓👍💚💜💛👍💔🫀💔🤭👍⚓⚓.
I just bought this aircraft. The instructions for the included controller is 0. No explanation of the toggle switches at all. I understand the left one is used for Safe, and flipped up is the safest position, the middle is off and and the away position is intermediate? What is the right toggle switch for? I have no idea. I used to crash model aircraft some 40 years ago, and this will be my first aircraft since then. Also interested to find out if I can replace the tyres with the PA-18 tyres. Tyres/wheels generally are very bad and noisy items on model aircraft.
I think that the camera gal should let her bearded husband buy one of them 1/3 scale 747-800 with the gas jet engines so we can see if we want to buy one of them. Also when are the RC Saylors gonna invite Mitch McConnell out to join them for a fly? Maybe he could do his old turtle imitation...never mind he does that anyway.
HELL NAW!!!! If you are serious about the hobby your first plane should be a Senorita, or a Telemaster, or a Goldberg cub if you feel up to a taildragger. if you can do it, with a nitro engine. you will gain way more respect this way
@@deceptionsoundwave933 Thats the whole point. Post flight inspections are a whole lot easier while cleaning your plane. you'll never learn how to build if you only fly foamies. if a beginner can do these things he will have alot more respect for his plane as if he just throws a foamie in the air.
Haha. Respect from who???? I fly alone and couldn't give two bleeps from some nitro head. You go donating cash to all your friends and I'm sure they'll be happy to fly nitro.
@@nickhayley I meant you will have more respect for the hobby when you build the plane yourself from a pile of wood, Install the radio, fuel lines, gas tank engine, and then tune and calibrate everything yourself, and doing post flight clean-ups while checking for damage. you yourself will appreciate the plane alot more than a foamie thats ready to fly out of the box, and a self-built plane lasts longer and will also give you alot more in experience

Great tip! Thanks! 👍😎⚓️
Just ordered ones
Still prefer the Arrows Hobby Bigfoot as best alrounder for trainer and fun. Good for learning how to use flaps too 🙂
Oh that is such an amazing plane!! Love my Bigfoot so much! I don’t believe I’ll ever get rid of that plane ✈️👍😎⚓️
Just ordered mine
So awesome Keith! Happy Flying! 👍😁😎⚓️
I cannot find anything called a “snap”. Could you please explain what you are doing when you say “snap”?
This plane DOES fly on 4s. I've flown the v2 on 4s using 1300mah packs and never had a drama. Of course, I wasn't on full tilt for 10 seconds at a time because even at 3/4 throttle, this bird can move on 4s.
So if anyone's waiting for it to be on 4s, don't. Just buy it, learn on it on 3s, then when you're ready add a 1300mah or 1800mah 4s pack and have lots of high powered close-in fun!
Love the super EZ
Great little plane! Very versatile 👍😎⚓️
Thank you!
Sick, I’m coming off an arrow scout do you think a commander would be a good second plane?
Thank you !
Nath, Its not the battery that is causing the issue, it is the thurst line. These cheap model knot off are not fully set up for airobarics. You fly great Join the AMA SPA look it up. We are hosting one at JCRC soon Look it up at AMA events.
Thank you It's not necessary for a gift just helping out a fellow AMA member.
Have you guys ever reviewed the mini APPRENTICE 2 from Horizon Hobby?! I haven't seen any video on your channel unless I'm missing it! If not will you do 1?! I would love to get your feedback about it!
Kinda early squad where you guys at happy flying all 😎😎😎😎⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Woot Fam Jay!! Hope you are having a great weekend! 👍😎⚓️
I LIKE THIS 👍 LEAF 🍃
Would you do a review on the fms 1000mm typhoon?
I’ll definitely check that out! Thanks for watching 👍😁😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors your welcome, you give an honest opinion on the planes, makes it easier to figure out which plane to get next. I am having binding issues for safe though, I'm just using the dxs transmitter
That was nice.
I would like to see how u have your reciver is placed
too late for my first!!! but it does look cool lol
⚓⚓👍💚💜💛👍💔🫀💔🤭👍⚓⚓.
sic as usually
Thanks!! 👍😁😎⚓️
Looks like the modern day Ultra hots, but foamy.
Nice!!!
We did not feature a RTF version of this aircraft.
hey what is the stall speed for this plane ?
Can you review the top race 3channel scesna pls
I’ll definitely check that out! 👍😁⚓️
Thanks I’m thinking about buying it
If I crash my RC plane in a parked or moving vehicle I'm going to set my receiver down jump in my car and drive away lol just kidding love your show
Ama is great and inexpensive. Just got minimal liability insurance for $38. Premium is $75 i think
wowwww
Does this have flaps?
It does not. However some people program Flaperons in this bird 👍😁😎⚓️
@TheRcSaylors Flaperons!! Haha never heard that one..thanks alot for following up i appreciate that. Happy flying 🤙
Doesn't need flaps at all. I programmed flaperons and it behaves unpredictably. It doesn't need them at all.
You don't have to always be an asshole... try leaving politics out once in a while.
Idiot troll.
I wanted one ...till you referenced the Lakers ...jk
That roll rate is an accident waiting to happen, wondering if Nate makes it all the way thru this video....
How’s that?
@@TheRcSaylors it looked like it would lose 30 feet on any roll, and a beginner would probably lose it
Looks like a Cesna
I think it’s based of the Cessna 152
Are you atracked to grass you always seem to head for the grass before you take off. 😅
Ok, second
MAGA ….
:-)
:-)
First 👌
Woot! You got first!! 💯👍😁😎⚓️
First
HELL NAW!!!! If you are serious about the hobby your first plane should be a Senorita, or a Telemaster, or a Goldberg cub if you feel up to a taildragger. if you can do it, with a nitro engine. you will gain way more respect this way
North is to much work and requires more maintenance. Electric is definitely the way to go when it comes to beginners
Nitro*
You seemed to be making excuses for the plane it’s obviously controls too small I think a lot better planes people could get :(
Not excuses at all. I pointed out the things I do and don’t like 👍😁⚓️
