I was one of the first stewards that Dan-Air employed and my second flight was on the very aircraft featured in this video the A300B4 out of LGW, I loved working for them and I will be eternally grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to work with them and putting me on the path to a 30 year career as a flight attendant mostly for foreign airlines and private jets l, It is just great to see this video, now I have hung up my wings I still miss flying but only if the passengers are the 1980s/90s vintage

I totally agree with you about the passengers, so much more fun to fly in the 80's and 90's as I did. I don't suppose you knew Jane Bull ? She flew for Dan' in the old days and ended up working with me at Orion.

@@steevo6220 I don't recall the name, however Dan airs fleet was so diverse that she could have been on a totally different fleet, we where checked out on two aircraft types. However if you worked for Orion you may know Terry Steel, David Dodds, Pat Edwards and Karl Parry

I remember being on a Dan Air flight in 1982 to Spain. I was 8. Remember a bit of it. Our Uncle and Dad sat at the back smoking cigars!

My first flight with Dan Air was in 1968, on an Airspeed Ambassador. Still remember the clouds of white smoke on start-up!

I flew my one and only time with Dan Air to Spain in 1983...Just as we were to start the take off roll the captain announced that there was an electrical problem and back to the ramp we went....a few hours later we got back on the same plane and as just about as we were to start the take off roll again some smart fella a few rows behind us shouted "Get the F****n jump-leads out" to which the whole cabin cracked up laughing.....!! We did make it to Spain however and had a Wonderful trip with an incident-free return trip....!!

I used to fly Dan Air most of the time as an infant and kid during the 80s from Manchester. Can recall flying the 1.11s, 737 once and 727s to Palma, Alicante, Almeria and Malaga, sitting at the back when family members smoked. I wished they ordered the 757s or had 767s as Britannia did at that time. Never got to fly on their A300s. Some tour operator using Dan Air offered only biscuits and tea or coffee for the meals so I think they didn’t have a great reputation. Monarch 757s, Britannia 767s, Cal Air Dc10s and British Airtours Tristar were often well received and appreciated over the Dan Air fleet and service.

My one and only holiday flying with Dan Air was in August 1982 from Gatwick to Ibiza, I think it was a DC10 if I remember correctly, I was just turned 14 and on a school trip.

It’s 2020 now and thank God we don’t have delayed departures anymore in Gatwick. And if it wasn’t for Heathrow’s third runway we would still have delays there as well. Not to mention the planes sitting in holding patterns over London wasting fuel. Yes, Britain’s investments in infrastructure is paying off nicely.

Yee Dan Air. We flew to Ibiza back in 1988 from Manchester on board a 1-11. Firstly welcomed on board by a miserable young stewardess as we boarded the plane.
The return trip- sat next to the emergency escape windows where our seats were arranged so we faced the passengers opposite us. One bloke opposite us was s##tting himself, especially when we heard a grrrt bang after we got into the air. With the air conditioning leaking water we decided to hold a cup beneath to collect the water. Apart from that a pretty uneventful flight hehe.

Forty minutes delay? Hah! That's nothing, I've heard of flights being delayed for up to 15 hours!
And at least they got a bite to eat on the flight - you don't even get that these days.
