A tip for those who think at the beginning that Karen's tutorials are not going to lead to anything good, and you are getting bored or discouraged, just start with the result at the end. By the way: the boring part is never boring, I think it is the miracle part. I have enjoyed this tutorial very much. Gràcies.

I wanted to try Blair because of the low odor. I bought a Conté à Paris one but haven't used it yet. I'll let you know. About the artwork... Wonderful. @KarenMargulis  3 года назад +1

      @sacrebleu1371 3 года назад

@@KarenMargulis Same glass I prefer; really makes a difference.👍 Add: When I mount, I sometimes use a trim of mat board colored close and cut to be invisible, but keeps pastel away from glass. Others mount tight to glass, which I am uncomfortable with. How do you approach glass vs painting depth?

Another tip-filled and engaging instructional video! Lux Archival has been favorite of mine for awhile and I’ve been raving about it so it’s great to hear your appreciation for its many fine qualities. I missed Heidi’s amusing commentary this time but perhaps she was dreaming about your next project, formulating thoughts to contribute. I truly love painting rocks and stone faces (so much variety and character) so I enjoyed this composition. I always learn so much whether spoken or demonstrated by your technique. Much gratitude!

Incredible underpainting- this one looked so beautiful with the contrasting values- it almost seemed good as is.
I wanted to ask if by any chance you’ d be willing to do a Terry Ludwig give a way?
And yes, you are so right to remind us, that to every beautiful creation there is an “ugly” stage. It’s universal with everything in God’s World-
    Including pastels. I forget sometimes.
I always look forward to your new video- and never am disappointed always learn (or relearn ) something important for this work.
    God Bless you😇
Ps I noticed three comments with an added link to perverted materials- they usually are in blue and have “.fyi
    added.
(I clicked on one to see what it was)
This is just for others who may not know- please report spam comments and other comments not related. They usually post a short comment in addition to the link. Like,
“ Good” or “ Lovely” something simple so that it doesn’t get tagged right away.
I get frustrated with these spammers especially on a site where there is higher quality content and really sweet community.
    ❤️

Karen, thank you for teaching me to paint landscapes. My typical portrait & wildlife art is hyperrealism. Occasionally, I've been required to do a bit of landscape background & have been at a complete loss. Now, after watching numerous of your wonderful videos, I'm actually contemplating trying a landscape for....(gasp!) fun! btw, one of the first videos of yours I watched, during the part that the painting was at its' "ugly" stage, may have been poppies, I got so stressed out that I had to pause the video and leave the studio for a while before coming back for the magical conclusion :D

Thank you for watching my videos! I appreciate your comment about the ugly stage. I am afraid I lose viewers because they don't believe I can make anything of the painting! Maybe I should show a photo of the finished painting at the beginning of the video!

Thanks for this. I was very frustrated with other paper buckling. I will let you know what I find with it.
