I've always been a huge fan of TM(with many other peripherals). But after the AVA I just switched to the Winwing Orion2. I do have to say, I love it. Hopefully TM Can make the AVA better in the future.

Spring wobble versus that dry clutch slide. _Mmm._ TM's reluctance to release enthusiast hardware is revealing to how niche said market is, as if the cut needed for middlemen and marketing couldn't be covered at competitive cost. VKB, Virpil, Slaw, Milan, Wingwing, (not up to date on Honeycomb's latest issues) everyone pulling the weight on that end of the market are a grace for their efforts.

Probably the best simming investment I ever made. The new base looks great and probably finally gets rid of "sticktion", but I'm currently poor so I'll have to coax a few more years out of what I've got. Thanks for the video.

Correct. Warbrd-D has better dampers and is more full featured, allows for a LOT of firmware tuning like axis-to-buttons and button-to-axis at a firmware level, and can accept virpil or thrustmaster grips, with hall effect sensors. No clue what the new TM base is using, but I am alarmed by it not being mentioned what sensors its using, or at least its resolution.

Over the last 5 years Winwing, VKB, and others have produced very high quality products at a much better price.
Now Thrustmaster wants to keep there customers or do they? From the majority plastic $500 F16 throttle to this overpriced plastic toy.

I must admit I was worried that the base would be a ball-in-socket type gimbal, but I must say that the quality of the cam type looked really solid and high quality.
Funny thing (or maybe not) that on RC transmitters, even the really cheap ones from china, all have the cam style gimbals. So the fact that we still get expensive joysticks today with the ball-and-socket type is just shameful.
I just wished that Thrustmaster would have worked a bit more on the height of the base.

Can this base support a 3rd party 3D printed stick extension? If so, I may have to consider this as an upgrade path for my warthog stick. Wish Thrustmaster would make a FFB stick base that's at a sensible price too, given they've been making FFB wheels for years now

Kinda agree with ya, offset adapter for a desk mount is a bit weird. Good info overall. Would i buy one? Certainly not right now, my VPC is serving me fine so far, and if anything i am more in need of a more functional throttle quadrant, but would i consider it in the future? Maybe, depending on the number of sticks available.

Gotta say, good customizable dampers change the game. I have two vkb mk3 bases. With some nyogel they do not bounce/wobble. One is springless for heli flying and holds its place while also having negligible stiction. I think it costs less than this too. Definitely need to make sure that dampers are good (and regrease with nyogel which is so so worth the effortl

I can't believe my tmwh is nearly pristine. Got it in 2015 and played maybe a total of 150 hours on it, till my daughter was born in 2020. Haven't touched it since and now getting back into flying.

Dude, thanks, that was a very nice video! great background music, nice montage. Did you ever notice why the yellow arrow as for on your warthog?? lol hilarious moment. Small tip I've learned on it. The easiest way to put springs is to lift the arm with your finger to shorten the distance between spings hooks! :)

Hey Ralfi, do you have any idea if the ava base plate works with the Orion 2. It seems much sturdier than the one that came with mine and might be an easy 30$ upgrade if compatible

    • @44R0Ndin
      @44R0Ndin 2 месяца назад

If you have a drill, that AVA plate is universally compatible. It's just a flat piece of metal. Nothing special about it. Drill holes where you need them if your base doesn't fit and you think this one's sturdier.

the additional height with the adapter seems to be perfectly suited for F-14, F-18 stick configuration arrangement with the stick in between your leg

I've been using the AVA since release and at first I wasn't too sure cause of the bouncing but then after using it for some time and after setting some deadzones so far it's great for me.

Because it is not impacting flying. It is just a bullshit artificial test. The only dumpers that would be welcomed are the ones that make your joystick basically a deadstick.

@@benargeei was wondering about that myself, apparently generic ones are like 1$, they are much lower quality than the ones good hotas use, but are also much better than ball and cup hotas

Welp, the adapter and the fact that it can use the pre-existing holes from a tmwh plate (or in my case a desk mount) with this thing means my wallet is once again in danger…
