The dynamax adventures list was so funny to me cause hed be casually listing pokemon he caught and evolved and mentions the god of space in the same manner as a tiny bug 😭
A lot of people probably know this but, if you save right before going into the regieleki/regidrago and catch one of the regies you could put the regi into pokemon home, reload your save and catch the other regi
Glad you're getting sponsors. I discovered you yesterday while on a really slow work shift and it's been great listening while at my 9-5. This isn't the professor oak challenge, but I've got a complete living dex in home and I'm currently re-doing the process from the gen 1 remakes all the way to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. So far I have the entire Kanto pokedex (including Mew) and I'm about a quarter of the way through Johto. Currently trying to max out the happiness of two eevees I have so I can get Espeon and Umbreon. Say what you will about modern pokemon, they made completing the dex so much easier.
NGL, a massive positive of the dex cut is that so many more Pokemon are available in this game. In other challenges, the final number is anywhere from like 400 to an abismal ~180

Create badge barrier to prevent players from potentially catching extremely high level pokemon to steamroll the game with. Dlc immediately invalidates the badge rule and has the nerve to go "yeah you can't get calyrex unless you're the champion!" Sure different director for the dlc but they HAD to know about the badge rule to even consider implementing something to say "Rayquaza and Zygrade? Sure, Calyrex? No." Hopefully they give us more ways to bypass trade evos in future games, that's the one positive I can say about the games.
To be honest this professor oak challenge revealed that issue (to me at least...) of you can get certain legendary pokemon before you become champion but others like Calyrex you cannot so I don't think game freak anticipated this weird issue lol

@@exa_eille seems kinda like you're just grouping a lot of people together who really aren't actually that mad and it's just the loud few that make the quiet majority seem bad, not to mention growing up and playing all these games through several generations, and then all the sudden you clearly see a huge drop in quality in swsh, it can be a little upsetting. I mean take something as simple as the fly animation. In gen 5, a nice, simple looking animation of a bird taking you away. Fast forward 3 consoles and 3 gens later and now its a measly fade to black. Say what you want, you can't argue that there isn't a lack of quality and polish in swsh
Super Mystery Dungeon is the only Mystery Dungeon game where I actually bothered to recruit everything because it doesn't involve randomly defeating stuff in the dungeons and it ties into getting arceus. Plus I actually love to the connection orb and it made all of the Pokemon feel more personal
Loved the video, I only got into all these Pokémon challenge videos, like nuzlockes and Pokédex challenges, but you really made a lot of it harder than need be, there’s a lot of Pokémon you could sweep up in various areas rather than grinding dens for them. Especially the Dynamax adventures. I still don’t get why people shit on Sword/Shield that much, it’s not that bad at all, I man the story can be eh, I enjoyed it, but I get why people didn’t. The Dyanmaxing is pretty neat, not to mention it’s got a hell of a Dex with the dlc.
I can see SWSH can be hell including the DLCs to do this challenge but I think those games are cool & fun to play I can see people going to disagree with me I think SWSH has mixed reaction where people either hate or love those games 🤷♂️

I'm planning on doing something like this myself but since you can catch so many evolved forms in these versions I'm only going to focus on catching everything available and not worry about evolving everything unless that's the only way to obtain it.
Would be interesting if someone did something like this challenge but for Scarlet and Violet Catching as many Pokemon as possible between Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy before getting a single badge (Gym, Team Star, or Titan)

A lot of the Pokemon were available in the DLC, and a lot of Pokemon are also obtainable in the Raid Dens! It's how I got a full Pokedex abusing the clock, raid dens, and the dlc, almost all without trading! Hard Pokemon to get were Gengar and Dusknoir, along with Accelgor and Escavalier, but all of those were available in the wild area and the Forest of Focus as static encounters The only Pokemon I hadn't gotten were version exclusives and extra legendaries, which I could trade for As of now the only Pokemon I still don't have are the Porygon line!
Well, I'd say its less about the Pokemon missing in general and more about that GameFreak lied about their reasoning. That's the shitty part and that's what people are mad about. In case you didn't know, GameFreak claimed to have reduced the dex because of new battle animations and models for the Mons. Both were lies.
i imagine arctovish is in a state of existential dread as its speculated that due to the scientist's carelessness (thats actually a pun on her name), the pokemon's head is on wrong and the mouth is pointed up.
Minus Dynamax as a mechanic, this game is easily the best competitive game of the series between the selection available and easy to access for competitive of any past Pokemon game (with the possible exclusion of Sun and Moon/Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. There is obviously a ton wrong with this game (mainly surrounding the in-game post game and the weak 'evil team' design and plot twist. But every game is a step forward and I still have hopes that at some point in the future, similarly to WWE today, that once control of creative changes hands, the product gets a massive uptick in quality. Until then, I will still continue playing the Pokemon games as each game I have played (and Ive played all but Black and White/Black 2 and White 2 at release - I have gone back and played them and have found that I enjoy them incredibly so) has some pieces that I either adore, or have come to adore. As well as pieces that I dislike, and we should hold the Pokemon Company accountable to these wrong-doings. Playing Sword from launch was a really cool journey as the game launched with 400 Pokemon (between both games) and when the DLC launched it breathed new life into the games with new story, new Pokemon, returning Pokemon, and new mechanics and things to do. Having played this from launch I appreciate it much more than I did say Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as initially I felt as though the Ultra series voided the adventure I had gone on just a year prior. I much prefer additions to a game to get me playing it again over getting another set of games (or a third game) that improves on the originals and makes me feel like it was useless to play it. Similarly to Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum, all of which I loved and hold in high regard, but I know most of that is Nostalgia based and I was a kid with a lot more time when those games released. I for one hope that the DLC model is one they keep (instead of a third edition or Ultra series). I would not mind at all however the Gen 5 touch on games wherein they go make sequels to games throughout the series, so long as it is legitimately sequels.

Great job with the Challenge I've got a general question about the gen 8 criticism though. I complete agree with the fact that the story just doesnt make any sense at the end, seems like they ran out of time. But the whole you can't get every Pokemon thing, isn't that true for all the other games besides rby and gsc? And even there you only get Mew if you exploit or get an event mon. So I dont rly understand that criticism everybody been so vocal all about. To end on a bright note though I love your professor oak challenge video. Great job

About the “you can’t get every Pokémon” complaint, that’s specifically referring to the fact that not all Pokémon can be transferred into Sword and Shield. Personally, I don’t really care about that but I can see why others might take issue with it. People had similar complaints about Ruby and Sapphire, before FireRed and LeafGreen were released. You just don’t see them because the internet wasn’t as big a thing back then (and c’mon, who’s looking at reviews for games released nearly two decades ago, written when said games were new?).

Hard Pokemon to get were Gengar and Dusknoir, along with Accelgor and Escavalier, but all of those were available in the wild area and the Forest of Focus as static encounters
The only Pokemon I hadn't gotten were version exclusives and extra legendaries, which I could trade for
As of now the only Pokemon I still don't have are the Porygon line!
I don't get why people complain so much about unobtainable pokemon in Sword/Shield, this challenge kinda shows that it's just a hassle
Well, I'd say its less about the Pokemon missing in general and more about that GameFreak lied about their reasoning. That's the shitty part and that's what people are mad about.
In case you didn't know, GameFreak claimed to have reduced the dex because of new battle animations and models for the Mons. Both were lies.

Minus Dynamax as a mechanic, this game is easily the best competitive game of the series between the selection available and easy to access for competitive of any past Pokemon game (with the possible exclusion of Sun and Moon/Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
There is obviously a ton wrong with this game (mainly surrounding the in-game post game and the weak 'evil team' design and plot twist. But every game is a step forward and I still have hopes that at some point in the future, similarly to WWE today, that once control of creative changes hands, the product gets a massive uptick in quality.
Until then, I will still continue playing the Pokemon games as each game I have played (and Ive played all but Black and White/Black 2 and White 2 at release - I have gone back and played them and have found that I enjoy them incredibly so) has some pieces that I either adore, or have come to adore. As well as pieces that I dislike, and we should hold the Pokemon Company accountable to these wrong-doings.
Playing Sword from launch was a really cool journey as the game launched with 400 Pokemon (between both games) and when the DLC launched it breathed new life into the games with new story, new Pokemon, returning Pokemon, and new mechanics and things to do. Having played this from launch I appreciate it much more than I did say Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as initially I felt as though the Ultra series voided the adventure I had gone on just a year prior. I much prefer additions to a game to get me playing it again over getting another set of games (or a third game) that improves on the originals and makes me feel like it was useless to play it. Similarly to Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum, all of which I loved and hold in high regard, but I know most of that is Nostalgia based and I was a kid with a lot more time when those games released.
I for one hope that the DLC model is one they keep (instead of a third edition or Ultra series). I would not mind at all however the Gen 5 touch on games wherein they go make sequels to games throughout the series, so long as it is legitimately sequels.

I've got a general question about the gen 8 criticism though.
I complete agree with the fact that the story just doesnt make any sense at the end, seems like they ran out of time.
But the whole you can't get every Pokemon thing, isn't that true for all the other games besides rby and gsc?
And even there you only get Mew if you exploit or get an event mon.
So I dont rly understand that criticism everybody been so vocal all about.

About the “you can’t get every Pokémon” complaint, that’s specifically referring to the fact that not all Pokémon can be transferred into Sword and Shield. Personally, I don’t really care about that but I can see why others might take issue with it.
People had similar complaints about Ruby and Sapphire, before FireRed and LeafGreen were released. You just don’t see them because the internet wasn’t as big a thing back then (and c’mon, who’s looking at reviews for games released nearly two decades ago, written when said games were new?).
