I’m glad your well but how do you know it was drinking that lead to breast cancer. I have many friends who have dealt with breast cancer and were not drinkers.
How do you know it was the drinking? Most breast cancer cases are because of DNA/ genetics and then a lot of factors like hormone treatments, chemical exposure (foods, makeup, pollution, etc.) lack of light, and then life style - obesity, alcohol, smoking etc.. It's great you quit smoking and drinking, but I'm curious how you know/your doctors know, and it's not a combination? I've never heard of anyone getting breast cancer from drinking, there's studies that shows that nuns gets breast, ovarian and uterine cancer more often than women who have babies.. Quite interesting 🤔

That was my father’s most repeated motto: “All things in moderation.” He had the occasional weekend beer over BBQ, and that was it. His second most repeated phrase was “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken.” Oh, how true is that. Keep your health. My Dad did until COVID got him at the start of the pandemic, age 94.
That's what my mother used to say, among lots of other gems. Wish I had both parent to 94!! Miss them forever. They hardly drank, for occasions mostly.
@@1917yee I think a person is unlikely to become an alcoholic if they have the ethical philosophy that the brakes are on, right from the start. You will avoid getting hooked. Just like heroin, you don’t think you can make a habit of doing it once or twice a week. Substances are seductive. First, they are a habit, then comes the damage to body and mind. You don’t find this “disease” in countries and the state of Utah, where people understand avoidance of addictive substances. We are all prone to addiction if we don’t understand moderation to begin with. Moderation for alcohol and narcotics is basically to avoid them. Do we call being hooked on sugar a “disease?” We do, if they develop diabetes, then yes, it becomes a disease. Having said all that, I get your point. After a certain point, when the damage is so extensive, it will not be possible for the alcoholic to get sober, as he suffers from cirrhosis and Wernicke’s encephalopathy among other true diseases.
People become dependent on alcohol and drugs to cope with the pain and loss resulting from childhood trauma, abuse, and neglect. Trauma also increases the likelihood of a person suffering from a range of chronic illnesses, from cancer to lupus to heart disease. So well said. In so many cases it is not just bad influence of others, but pain or insecurity or lack of coping mechanisms, more precisely, lack of education on what they are and how to use them.
It's not always childhood trauma. They have also found some people have receptors in their brain that make them more susceptible to addiction. Last I saw they could see a genetic component to it also.
My aunt struggled with alcoholism and passed away from it. Looking at photos of her it is shocking to see the transformation and how she changed from a stunning vivacious woman into a person that was unrecognizable. She became bloated (both face and body) and facially her beautiful bone structure disappeared because she was so puffy. Over time she became emaciated and her long red hair started falling out in clumps. After watching what happened to my aunt I never drank alcohol.
I quit alcohol in 1992. By 1998 in grad school at 38, everyone thought I was a freshman. Today I turned 60, and look fabulous for my age. But yeah, dehydration post menopause is a bad monster.
for two yrs i dealt with alcoholism. i look at photos from at the peak of my alcoholism, and my face was so swollen. my stomach was constantly bloated… 6 months of no longer drinking, ive lost weight, my face is much less swollen, my stomach has gone flat again… these are all things i only noticed physically. i feel a million times better now.
Congratulations! I think that when you really can see with your OWN eyes that you actually look way better than before, it becomes a powerful motivation to stay sober. 💕
Sorry to see how people struggle with alcoholism and the damage it does to their bodies. In a way, I feel blessed to have a natural aversion against both the taste of alcohol and the uneasy feeling I get from being drunk. Good wishes to anyone battling alcoholism! ❤️
I went through medical alcohol detox in January '20. I literally went to rehab mostly bc I knew drinking over a pint a day was aging me drastically at 40. Almost 2 yrs later and I look GREAT and feel GREAT! With good nutrition, supplements, and weight resistance training I'm impressed how much my body has bounced back. My friends and family tell me I'm just glowing these days. Yay for sobriety!!!!!!
My father was suffering from PTSD, and was an alcoholic. It aged him drastically. I used to drink but it wouldn't be a regular thing. But I did end up nearly having alcohol poisoning. And that one incident was enough for me to quit drinking altogether for good. I've been sober close to 11 years now.
We all know that excessive alcohol is just all around bad for us, but hearing you explain the specifics of what it does to our whole system, and the damage it causes to so many areas of our body, was so important! Thank you for this! ♡
I rarely drink, maybe ten a year, usually during the holidays. I never really could be bothered. Not into smoking/drugs/sunbathing either. I have seen booze eat a few family friends alive. Better to get natural life highs. I definitely believe that my lifestyle has kept my skin wrinkle free into my 40's.
Yes a lot of ppl I know dont know how to live without alcohol or dont know how to have fun without it. I never touched alcohol in my life and have no desire to. Ppl will think thats weird but they also think im 21 when im really 29
Much as I love a glass of wine- I only have it when I go out with friends on weekends. I never drink anything alone. This pretty much curtails my drinking.
Same, I'm almost 47 with no wrinkles, clear smooth skin. I don't even need to wear foundation, and to this day everyone asks me what I do for my skin, they say it looks like porcelain.
This is not just sobriety, it's also eating right and sleeping right and exercising etc., etc... She suffered from severe depression during her drinking period and dealing with PTSD, does that to your body..
Alcohol does have a lot to do with it too.. Kills your good bacteria and does so much damage to your stomach and intestinal tract that it can take months to judt be able to absorb nutrients. I got down to 100 lbs, drinking 375-750 ml vodka for 3-5 years ever day. Dark bags, and severe gastritis meant I couldn't eat anything or absorb calcium. Ugh so glad I'm done with that crap. Btw I was exercising more, sleeping more, and eating amazingly. Didn't even make a difference when I was drinking. Also, sleep is basically useless when you're drinking. You use all your sleep to process the alcohol and you don't seem to repair basic things people do when they sleep. So alcohol affects all the things that you mention to the point where, if you're a chronic alcoholic, they aren't really factors.
Back in my drinking days I saved a lot of grief by drinking at least 1 large glass of water for each drink. If you can't stomach hammering back another water, you can't have that cocktail, lol. Also the wives tale of not mixing types of booze to avoid hangovers is totally true. Now I don't drink at all, which is healthier without question.
Wow that is awesome that you came up with that! We can all engage in unhealthy activities, and sometimes it's beneficial (like eating something junky once in a while when you're trying to watch your diet), and it's great to see people use certain disciplinary measures to try to contain it.
I do/did the same thing, but then one day I took a bottle of pedialyte with me to the bar and did drinks of that in between with booze. No hangover the next day 😎
i believe Lindsey Lohans aging is more caused from all the time she spent in tanning beds!!! She has fair skin and she was known for her heavy tans early on
@@MrParodyMovies Okay, that was 10 years ago, never heard of it until now btw... Lindsay lives in Dubai, is sober and has a career, so I don't understand the point of using her as an example, she doesn't look like that now, it was obvious that the person in the video don't like her, and was using old pics of her, that's not how she looks today .. SMH
Love this video! It's such a great concept and really proud of Jessica Simpson for being so honest!!! How brave for her to share a pic from such a vulnerable time.
I have a chronic headache condition from a neck injury I had almost 12 years ago, and ever since then I rarely drink alcohol. It surprises people when I tell them I don’t drink, and at times it even put a little damper on my social/dating life. In the last two relationships I have had my partner practiced being sober alongside me even though I have never asked anyone to do so, but they admitted to feeling much better overall and they had noticed a difference in how terrible they felt after a night of drinking as opposed to when it was normal for them to drink heavily. I just turned 40 this August and I believe I look better than ever! Lifestyle is a major factor for sure!
Future vid could be on sun damage cuz I suspect many come to Gary thinking that sun damage can easily be reversed & are surprised to learn that it often can’t be! Btw, Gary emphasizes moderation here, he’s not saying everyone should quit drinking entirely . . .
I used to drink 9 liters off cider a day as soon as I woke up was given 6 months to live so I did a detox I had an appointment with my doctor she’s didn’t even recognize me till half way through she jumped up n hugged me saying omg you look like a different person xx
I stopped drinking over 5 years ago because I wasn't able to do it in a healthy way. I didn't drink very much in my life overall and at age 44 I haven't really aged much. I love my sober life.
I hate when people insist weed is not a problem and is not addictive. Of course it is! Just because it's not heroin it doesn't mean it is innocuous. I nearly quit everything that mattered to me because of weed, and a guy I used to smoke with, was a babbling idiot even when he was not high.
As a weed smoker for 20+ years, I can weigh-in on how some of my usage has impacted my life negatively. (1) Sleep. Surprising as weed has helped me get to sleep over the years, but the sleep tends to be more shallow and I either don't dream or recall my dreams. And as my weed use continues, my sleep starts to degrade. When I stop my chronic use of weed, it takes time for me to naturally sleep again. That is when I notice a burst of clarity in my dreams as my body transitions back to its natural state. (2) Studies say marijuana creates more estrogen in your body. I'm not sure, but I do have gyno. However I've had a lot of weight issues, poor eating habits, and low activity throughout my life which I have remedied in recent years. Lost 65 pounds so far! (3) My emotions. I am normally a hyper person and my mind tends to want to process everything at once. Weed has helped me tremendously in times of high emotional stress, and has calmed me down. But the downside, is it also makes me a bit empty and disconnected in mind. Also, it is harder to process and deal with emotions on weed, because of the euphoria, and therefore things I should be facing and processing gets pushed down or to the back of my mind. This has caused spikes in depression and anxiety. I have since increased my physical activity (walk, swim, weights) and this allows me to be more confrontational with my own inner self. (4) My GI system is definitely affected by weed over time. My theory is the buzz of weed will relax and vibrate the body differently. I think the junk food from the munchies is the 50/50 cause of this, but I do believe constant weed usage can cause digestion issues, mainly within the intestine. My conclusion is weed usage can remain healthy if you have an equal dose of discipline to balance it out. I can now smoke weed and still eat healthy and remain in my calorie deficit, but I usually have to retrain myself a bit when I start to smoke again. On days where I lift weights and swim, I don't smoke weed until I'm done.
@@user-is7xs1mr9y Weed is tricky because its so habitual. I have never gone through much in the way of a physical addiction in the 20+ years I've smoked. However, it definitely is there psychologically for me. I think both the positive and negative of weed is how easy it can be to integrate it in our functional life. Because then, at least for me, I start to think that I wouldn't want to live a life without weed. Or watch a movie. Listen to music. Play a game. And so on.
Smoking anything deprives the skin of oxygen and depletes the body of vitamin C, which is necessary for collagen production. That’s why smoking causes wrinkles and skin that looks pasty and dull.
Good for her! I come from a family of alcoholics (I'm beyond blessed my dad and brother are years into recovery now praise God!) And i am a recovering addict. Surprisingly we dont look our age. We look younger than our age. Genetics and maybe quitting all the bs just in time. To anyone struggling: you CAN recover! I have faith in you, never ever give up ✌🏼🙏🏼💚 Thanks for this educational video
I got sober when I was 35. Towards the end I took photos of myself to look back on someday. I looked tired, done, and I was, thank God. I’m now 39 and I look 10 years younger. 🙏🏼
For me my polítics with drugs and alcohol is don’t even get started. I sleep like a baby 👶🏻 look 10 years younger. For stress relief there is exercise or sex ☺️ also don’t forget the effects of alcohol on the brain 🧠 shrinking
I didn't suffer hangovers, which I took as a bad sign for someone with an addictive personality. I don't drink at all. But back when I did, I always made a point of hydrating myself well before a night of drinking. People made fun of me for it, but I didn't suffer the next day like they did.
I haven't had a drink in 23 years (I was never an alcoholic), I've never smoked, I exercise everyday, I get enough sleep (most of the time), I never eat junk food (ever), I eat tons of fruits and vegetables, and I drink lots of water. It always shocks me how people treat their bodies like a garbage can. You only have one body. It's got to last you your whole life. Take care everyone!
@@melcel9003 I never said I was beautiful. I never even mentioned my looks. I was just saying that I take care of myself and don't understand how anyone could treat their body like a garbage can considering it shortens your life.
Thanks for the very informative video. As the daughter of a (long dead) alcoholic, I saw most of the behavioral effects of excessive drinking, as well as outward physical signs. I did not know the what/why of effects on the body. My dad died of cerebral hemorrhage and suffered heart attack and hypertension. I am now 69 and never drank, etc, and figure my smooth skin, good health, etc, are genetic, but now I see how drinking plenty of H2O and not drinking alcohol probably helped. Maybe it will offset my love of naps, and hatred of exercise! One can’t have everything…
The day after drinking also gives you cravings for crappy foods, well it does for me. Now I'm in my 50s I don't really feel like drinking much anymore, I've drank 3 times in the past 2 years.
Definitely causes problems, I quit drinking over 5 years ago. I have no regrets, other than the fact most of my friends drink to socialize. I keep to myself and hang out at the gym a lot. I’ll drink maybe twice a year at most.
After seeing alcohol destroy my family, I decided at a very young age to never take my first drink. I am now 62 and no alcohol has ever or will ever touch my lips. I don’t smoke or do drugs either.
Same for me. Alcoholic father and his family, so much chaos and trauma in my childhood. I don’t drink at all and always been a non-smoker. I’m 52 with lovely skin I’m sure is due to not drinking and smoking, using sunscreen and a sun hat when I go out.
I pretty much only drink when out with friends. I enjoy a cocktail at home once in a while. I am a chef and work early in the day and if I drink in the evening I feel slower. Even with one or two drinks. Also - I can’t get anything done at home if I am drinking!!
I’m drinking beer every day more than 20 years (1-2 l). And I have to stop this practice because of very bad kind of sleeping. I noticed that I sleep deeper without alcohol. But I’m still slender and look beautiful (I think 🤪).
I know from myself and others how alcohol affects your looks. The bloatedness and heaviness of your features are truly eradicates what good looks you began with. What surprised me was also how quickly everything improved once you stop drinking. I won't miss this!
How old are you? I ask because I’m 26 and wish I would have never drank to begin with. And this is coming from someone who only drank every few weeks or less. I wish I would have started caring for my skin and body as well as I have for the past few years.
And it's *never* too late to start caring for your skin. I never was a tanner, and have been using retinaldehyde products for 20 years, but I guess generics are part of the game. It certainly isn't healthy living.
A must watch! So inspiring for a clean & gorgeous lifestyle. When it affects your looks it has gone too far. Thank you! ENLIGHTENING. I will NEVER drink again!
I’ve become horrified, over the years, at how glamorized alcoholism has become... especially, because of celebrities. I myself have over 14 1/2 years of sobriety. I am an expert on what alcohol does to lives and families. It destroys everything in its path. Sobriety rocks! God is the only reason I am sober. He took my obsession, cravings and desires from me because I was simply willing to surrender all of me, including my own will to Him. ❤️🙏🏼
Agreed, now all these celebrities coming out with Tequila and brand wines just keep pushing alcohol under people’s throats. I hate that most social gatherings and interactions involve alcohol from birthday and family parties to brunches. Honestly I prefer to indulge on Ice cream or a favorite dessert or non alcoholic drink that just drink alcohol. It causes so much damage to the body and to people’s lives.
Amen! I stopped drinking alcohol almost 20 years ago. I only drank alcohol occasionally, but I didn't like the way that it made me feel. One of my uncles was an alcoholic and I never wanted to be like him.
I love how you are trying to be so informative and helpful and not judgmental and negative. Thanks for all your helpful, scientific and thoughtful information!!!!
The key word and issue are excess. 👍🏻 self-control is key 🔑 just like being self-aware. People tend to abuse everything in excess just like over eating. 🤷🏻♀️
Appreciate this excellent info.. Age def affects metabolism of alcohol. The Pandemic jump started my frequency in drinking wine, its time to return to healthier habits! Thank you Dr. Gary.
Many of the hangover symptoms actually come from the byproducts of alcohol-breakdown in the liver. When we process alcohol, we create aldehydes (formaldehyde is a type of aldehyde, to give people an idea of what we're talking about) and these peak in the blood-stream around 12 hours after we drink. These create system-wide inflammation as they circulate in our blood, and the final step of recovering from drinking alcohol is the removal of these aldehydes. It's rough!
It’s nice to see how the talk about her physical features has turned to a positive one. People need to find something “wrong” or “weird”, specially, when they see a successful and fearless woman.
I'm not sure I felt Lindsay looked that bad, especially if she's had addiction problems (some of the pictures were bad angles or strange expressions, but when photographed in a neutral way) 🌸
Dr. Motykie videos with medical information like this one are a need for us. I would love to see more like this one. There's a lot you can cover with your knowledge, I hope you will!!
I remember going to see Townes Van Zandt perform live a year or so before he died. He looked like he was about 70 years old. When he died, I was shocked to learn he was only 52! He was a long-term alcoholic and had severe health issues because of it. Looking 20 years older than his actual age was the least of his problems...
That too. It’s important to note that most drugs of abuse are chemicals which cause . (In the old days, dentists had patients drink Whiskey before tooth extractions for that reason.)
Your looks but also overall health is much better without smoking and alcohol. Both dehydrate, alcohol is a depressant, destroys your liver. Never had either and many people think I’m 10-12 years younger and I don’t wear make up either.
I hope everyone who commented their sobriety strides are still going strong and thriving!!♥️ Never give up guys! Everyone deserves a long, healthy & fulfilled life. To whoever sees this - I love you and your life matters!☀️
This video was the very best I’ve seen with information from someone who KNOWS how the body works and is telling it like it is. Thank you 🙏 so much for this Doctor!! Excellent Excellent video for people !! 🎯
I could never be an alcoholic No WAY. An occasional drink on your birthday or New Year's is all I've really done. I love being a good role model for my children ❤️🙏
I wish my mother wasn’t in denial that all her health problems relate to her daily drinking. She can’t sleep at night! She also has brain fog, redness... it’s a disease 😢
She knows it. Of course she knows. Her baby knows, so she knows. She doesn’t want to stop and admitting there is indeed a problem is supposed to lead to fixing it. Keep hope in your heart. Start researching for help for her. U probably already know this, but in case I don’t. There is a drug, a pill, for alcoholics. It is supposed to take any positive good feelings away from drinking. Can’t remember the name, think it start with an N. Only works if she will take it. You should not be in this position, but u are. And I’m so sorry. Do the best u can to help her and yourself:) Bless u both🌸
I am not an anxious person but when I drink I wake up almost like in a panic worried about something. Sometimes I can also feel my heart working harder. If you are an anxious person,I could see how drinking would amplify that. It definitely affects your sleep
She sees it, but she’s addicted. Buy her “This Naked Mind” by Annie Grace. She also has a podcast. My mother died of alcoholic liver failure. It’s no joke.
My father was an alcoholic. He had surgery for colon cancer, he coded after surgery but was resuscitated and was on life support for 8 days. He came off of it and he was well. The next day, he died from a cardiac event. I did warned the surgeon of his condition, but proceeded to do the surgery. Didn’t end well.
Celebrities often over inflate their issues with alcohol or drugs to sell a recovery story, it is encouraged by their crew and it is an unwritten protocol in many high level industries. Let's not pretend that airbrushing and weight loss isn't a strong contributor to looking good.
Thank you for the excellent presentation. My question is: I was a Resource Specialist and Special Education Teacher. Eleven years ago, a violent student assaulted me from behind. The student strangulated me in a chokehold, then smashed my spine while I was still in the chokehold (it’s a blunt-force compression injury-it’s the wrestling move where the wrestler slams down on the spine of the opponent.). Then, the student threw me to the classroom floor, where I sustained several injuries from that-I hit my head and shoulder, and my jaw was pushed out. My shoulder has a permanent impingement. As you can imagine, I have a life-changing injury from this assault. I have a debilitating spinal injury and my neck has never recovered. Because of this injury, I have chronic pain (and fatigue), so I take pain chronic pain medication. How much aging happens with chronic pain medication? I’m I use the Butrans patch (the highest dosage available), plus Ultram-the clinical dose, Prestiq, and 6 extended-releaseTylenol everyday. I also take flexiril. I do not drink, nor did I drink before at all. Though people do compliment my skin, what effect do all of these chronic pain medications have on skin?
Hi, i dont have an answer to your question but I'm so sorry that happened to you. I have nothing but the deepest respect for teachers. Thank you for your service.
@@Lwoods1717 Thank you so much for your sentiments. I appreciate it tremendously. I think you are one of the only people who have actually thanked me for my service. I was also doing Resource support (teaching reading, writing, math) out of my home in my spare time from about 1992-2010. (It’s too bad the Superintendent didn’t bother to call to say he was sorry this happened to me. I suppose the Board was “Lawyer-ing” up.)
I stopped drinking at all simply because I never liked any of it and realized It wasn't an obligation while going out, being a bit drunk imo is fun, but the money, and health it cost are not worth it. I'm only 20 so I feel like I dodged a bullet
I enjoyed this video. Very factual and neutral in the delivery. Also, confirming what I suspected for my own body reactions to using alcohol. Thank you.
Great video as always, dr. Motykie :) I love that Ethan sees it as his duty as a gay man to shed light on Lindsay Lohan lmao! And Ethan, can you floss? You need to teach dr. Motykie so he’ll be able to properly express his happiness through dance haha
My great-aunt was such a beauty when she was young...the jewel of the family. But I never knew her as such. By the time I came around, her looks had been completely ravaged by her alcoholism. Completely unrecognisable from photos...like, in a shocking way. It always made me sad. This might be news to some people, but previous generations had no problem understanding the connection between the alcohol and its effects on the body. I remember my grandmother would state the case flatly.

Good for you. You look great.
Sorry to see how people struggle with alcoholism and the damage it does to their bodies.
In a way, I feel blessed to have a natural aversion against both the taste of alcohol and the uneasy feeling I get from being drunk.
Good wishes to anyone battling alcoholism! ❤️
Me too... Never liked the stuff.
In a way, you're blessed. I was the reverse, having a great affinity for it and I paid for it in the end.
Congrats!!!
Dr. Gary has a little mischief in him, lol. He's so sweet and so much fun.
Agree, and with a twinkle in his eye.😍
My father was suffering from PTSD, and was an alcoholic. It aged him drastically. I used to drink but it wouldn't be a regular thing. But I did end up nearly having alcohol poisoning. And that one incident was enough for me to quit drinking altogether for good. I've been sober close to 11 years now.
We all know that excessive alcohol is just all around bad for us, but hearing you explain the specifics of what it does to our whole system, and the damage it causes to so many areas of our body, was so important!
Thank you for this! ♡
This is a great message because it explains how excessive drinking can show up on your face
Not just face, all over JS looks unrecognizable
I'd like to see one on how Cinnabon affects beauty.
Lol!
Well we know sugar causes premature ageing
For real! 🤣🤣
lmaooo!
It goes straight to the hips... thats why you should get 2 cinnabons one for each hip.
Once on the lips forever on the hips
That was a very compassionate and informative explanation of the results of alcohol use. Beautifully done.
This is not just sobriety, it's also eating right and sleeping right and exercising etc., etc... She suffered from severe depression during her drinking period and dealing with PTSD, does that to your body..
He does cover eating and drinking alcohol…and stress (depression, PTSD, inflammation) is an umbrella category that covers both mental and physical.
What ptsd she has
Alcohol does have a lot to do with it too..
Alcohol is the second most toxic drug to the human body. It negatively affects every organ system in the body. Second only to cigarettes.
What caused her ptsd
She has fair skin and she was known for her heavy tans early on
if you look it up online its said she owed a 40,000$ bill to a tanning salon that she never paid
@@MrParodyMovies How do you spend that much money on tanning? Did she rent it for a year or something? 🤣😂
@@funinthekitchen844 no idea!! Look it up online the place filled a suit against her hahaha
SMH
Great video! Sun damage, smoking, alcohol, tanning beds, stress, diet, lack of sleep and lack of exercise. ..all will age us prematurely! 💖
Very timely discussion considering the holiday season right around the corner. Thx Dr M!💯👍
I stopped drinking over 5 years ago because I wasn't able to do it in a healthy way. I didn't drink very much in my life overall and at age 44 I haven't really aged much. I love my sober life.
Could you do this topic but for weed/vapes/e-cigs? I’m really curious, since a lot of people seem convinced that smoking weed has no negative impacts
I have faith in you, never ever give up ✌🏼🙏🏼💚
Thanks for this educational video
I got sober when I was 35. Towards the end I took photos of myself to look back on someday. I looked tired, done, and I was, thank God. I’m now 39 and I look 10 years younger. 🙏🏼
For me my polítics with drugs and alcohol is don’t even get started. I sleep like a baby 👶🏻 look 10 years younger. For stress relief there is exercise or sex ☺️ also don’t forget the effects of alcohol on the brain 🧠 shrinking
Great topic; so true about inflammation causing aging; also good sleep is very important for that matter ❣️
I agree I just don't get it.
@Pippi Bernstein I never told anyone to eat a raw vegan diet.
You want a cookie? 🙂 Here 🍪
Are you trying to say you are perfectly beautiful? Given the context of the video. I guess, Congratulations?
I just can't believe how alcohol made JS unrecognizable. There is nothing on that photo you would say : Oh yes that's Jessica
I love this Dr.! I'm in the beauty industry and I always believed consuming lots of alcohol on a daily basis makes your skin age due to dehydration.
I pretty much only drink when out with friends. I enjoy a cocktail at home once in a while. I am a chef and work early in the day and if I drink in the evening I feel slower. Even with one or two drinks. Also - I can’t get anything done at home if I am drinking!!
I don’t get how people have wine every night. I can’t really drink without wanting to sleep these days (I’m 35).
I know this is random but I really like your hair 💖
I am so thankful for your honest and fact-filled presentation, especially how alcohol affects stem cell regeneration. Keep this up.
It is natural for the body to want to heal itself.
How does cannabis effect your skin? Not just smoking but also edibles? In lou of alcohol not with? Thank you Doc!
How old are you? I ask because I’m 26 and wish I would have never drank to begin with. And this is coming from someone who only drank every few weeks or less. I wish I would have started caring for my skin and body as well as I have for the past few years.
@@SharonBurc i just turned 50!
And it's *never* too late to start caring for your skin. I never was a tanner, and have been using retinaldehyde products for 20 years, but I guess generics are part of the game.
It certainly isn't healthy living.
I loved how informatively non judgemental that was.
Never drinking again. I don't even drink like that at all. But this got me scared straight! 🚫🙅🏾♀️🍸

You needed a video to instruct you that a poor relationship with alcohol makes you unattractive?

A must watch!
So inspiring for a clean & gorgeous lifestyle. When it affects your looks it has gone too far.
Thank you! ENLIGHTENING. I will NEVER drink again!
One of the best explanations I’ve ever heard of the affects of alcohol. Great job.
Amen!
Gary.
I developed an allergy to alchohol when I hit about 30. I'm kinda glad, too. I can't even have a tiny bit or I feel like I'm dying!
I would also love to see you do a video on caffeine as it is being consumed in much higher doses and I’m sure it has an affect on aging (and health)!
It's rough!
he forgot to mention that drinking is also coupled with smoking. thats a huge huge huge component of aging with drinking.
And I'm hungover...prefect time to hear this I guess😅
I remember going to see Townes Van Zandt perform live a year or so before he died. He looked like he was about 70 years old. When he died, I was shocked to learn he was only 52! He was a long-term alcoholic and had severe health issues because of it. Looking 20 years older than his actual age was the least of his problems...
I don’t like shaming people, most dependents have unresolved trauma, let’s not add
That too. It’s important to note that most drugs of abuse are chemicals which cause . (In the old days, dentists had patients drink Whiskey before tooth extractions for that reason.)

GREAT topic!!!! Such a needed discussion. Inflammation/ alcohol is a major reason we look fffffuuuuccckkked as we age.
Your looks but also overall health is much better without smoking and alcohol. Both dehydrate, alcohol is a depressant, destroys your liver. Never had either and many people think I’m 10-12 years younger and I don’t wear make up either.
I’m saving this video to remind myself not to drink so much 👍❤️

I don’t drink, but I think excessive sugar also had some of the the same effects on me…
This video was the very best I’ve seen with information from someone who KNOWS how the body works and is telling it like it is. Thank you 🙏 so much for this Doctor!! Excellent Excellent video for people !! 🎯
I could never be an alcoholic No WAY. An occasional drink on your birthday or New Year's is all I've really done. I love being a good role model for my children ❤️🙏
It's nice you talked about the effects on all the body, not just beauty. Even though the video is titled that.
I wish my mother wasn’t in denial that all her health problems relate to her daily drinking. She can’t sleep at night! She also has brain fog, redness... it’s a disease 😢
I’m so sorry that you are going through this. I hope she will see it one day!
I’m sorry she is going through that. Make sure she knows she’s loved. I dealt with a drinking problem for about 10 years
She sees it, but she’s addicted. Buy her “This Naked Mind” by Annie Grace. She also has a podcast. My mother died of alcoholic liver failure. It’s no joke.
Excellent explanation of the effects of alcohol. I've been needing to cut way back on my wine intake and this is very helpful!
They over inflate everything, especially their lips, boobs and asses. They are full of shit!
Thank you so much Doctor.
This is the video I needed to see.
Super easy to understand.
I have all the information to do better in life.
Thank you for the excellent presentation.
My question is:
I was a Resource Specialist and Special Education Teacher.

I stopped drinking at all simply because I never liked any of it and realized It wasn't an obligation while going out, being a bit drunk imo is fun, but the money, and health it cost are not worth it. I'm only 20 so I feel like I dodged a bullet
Can you do an analysis like this of someone with long time marijuana use, sun exposure, and other ‘chronic’ sources of aging?

My great-aunt was such a beauty when she was young...the jewel of the family. But I never knew her as such. By the time I came around, her looks had been completely ravaged by her alcoholism. Completely unrecognisable from photos...like, in a shocking way. It always made me sad.
This might be news to some people, but previous generations had no problem understanding the connection between the alcohol and its effects on the body. I remember my grandmother would state the case flatly.
"As a gay man..." and then a question on Lindsay Lohan. I don't get that at all.
I agree
