    A reminder that the news arm of the BBC has unaddressed institutional transphobia. You probably know all about this but here are some links if you need a refresher:
    . Council of Geeks has videos on the issue, here is one: ruclips.net/video/skh81N5lcYY/видео.html
    . Shaun has done several videos, here is the latest: ruclips.net/video/3F7GW7Ro4OQ/видео.html
    . Laura Kate Dale's speech outside the BBC: ruclips.net/video/hBjGnWkwAjI/видео.html

    The devil's chord was a banger, space babies felt like an RTD speedrun of introducing everything

    i agree on the historicals front. been bizaare seeing some people calling this a return to great man stories- all the beatles do is be bad at music so we know time is wrong, talk about they done like music and theyre depressed so we know its not a straight up "no music" timeline, and then resolve the plot because theyve got music in their soul they needed to get out. if i was writing it, had have the doctor do maybe one note, the beatles do the middle part, and then they muss the last one and ruby finishes it, but thats more about ruby not having enough to do than about the historical angle

    You mentioned the Idiot's Lantern similarities but then Space Babies is a space station runaround, that makes a big deal of putting the word "space" in front of things, with a monster made of human mucus for the purposes of an in-universe constructed narrative....
    Did- did Gatiss ghostwrite these episodes?

    Ncuti worked well for me in the quite scenes but at other times he was a bit much. The Second episode was much better but a bit over indulgent, and didn't really explore the setting very well.

    So far what may be the most interesting RTD1->RTD2 development is Russell's utter disinterest in the celebrity historical (king Moffat-core) considering he basically created the genre for Who.

    2:59 The _Faction Paradox_ fans were very happy with _Devil's Chord._

      Oh, that's interesting! I guess I can see that. Out of curiosity are there many FP stories that are outright comedies? (not that Devil's Chord is a comedy but, ya know)

      @@thevacuumofcomments2946 Uhhh. "Outright" is what's stopping me from saying a clear yes here. There are short stories in some of the anthologies that are very silly and very humorous, but also have plot and drama. I'd classify them as _largely_ comedies, but, you know. _The Crikeytown Cancellations_ stands out.

    Also. It can't be just me. Was there something wrong with the filmography a little? How characters are shot, when they're moving at times, it feels a little uncanny and cheap. Almost CW-esque. In both episodes. Other people I was watching it with noticed it too.

    I thought the first episode was a bit subpar, and the exposition really dragged it down.

    • @CulturePhilter
      @CulturePhilter 5 месяцев назад

      While there was a lot of it I found the exposition felt naturally delivered. Wasn’t as clunky as exposition had been under Chibnell.

    • @guygrist4436

      @@CulturePhilter That's fair but for some reason in the Chibnell era it didn't bother me as much.
