Any advice on retiring and moving to a (very) possible and different career? The BBs talk about "death of the ego." I'm more of the opinion that the ego gets satisfied doing something else, as long as it's right.
Wow the mid 90's . I remember I couldn't wait to get Flex magazine and the Muscle mag magazines. Every month. Dorian Yates, Flex Wheeler. Coleman, and of course you Jay . You were a beast.
I agree with Jay. When you have a group of dudes hanging out having fun with a goal you end up making huge gains and it seems effortless while you look back thinking it was fun.
I saw Phil Heath guest pose at the Mr. Rochester in 07, it was right when he was coming up. It was unbeleivable how big he was and i got a picture with him, a decade later i met him at the Olympia again and had him sign the picture for me
You know what is cool to realize and see? I was just remembering Arnold after bodybuilding when he became an actor but he still stayed on gear and was jacked until his early 50s I think and Jay is at the same point arnold was at around the late 90s I think. So it’s just cool to see their paths at these ages after professional competition
Hi ...speaking of guest posing I did see Bill Pearl pose with an event with Dennis Tinerino in Adelaide South Australia in the early 80's ...what an inspiration.
Thanks again Jay and Dave (FTB) taken us along with you guys, great conversation and memories it’s always great !!! SR. I went to a lot of shows back in the 70s through 2000s went mostly to see the guests posing saw alot of pros Weider sent alot of you guys out to shows one the most memorable was Sergio Sr. Got to have one on one conversation with him , we were leaving to the parking garage and cut through the back and he came out the back door and we were so lucky , we had our baby girl and he didn’t ask if he could hold her and he did , he was the most gentlest giant he was the biggest man I had ever seen his soldiers were bigger than my head , he spent about 15 minutes talking with us and of course I used all my film at the show, but at least I was able to get my picture signed as he was not at his table he didn’t make an appearance, it is one my best memories and of course when I met you here in Pueblo !!! SR.
Good stuff Jay. Enjoyed hearing you reminisce about a time when bodybuilding was gaining in popularity, and the guys that we all wanted to look like. Thanks.
These walks keep me motivated bro. Please keep it going. My daughter and I are going to get swole pig shirts for Christmas. Your inspiring generations.
The NY Grand Prix in Poughkeepsie still does the guest posing and it's definitely the anticipated highlight of the night show. Hunter Labrada was the guest poser this time end of September.
When I was in Okinawa in the marine corps circa 1998 , I remember when I started seeing your name in the magazines on base. I watched you progress to Mr. O . Keep up the positive vibes JAY . Thanks for all you do for the sport of bodybuilding.
Great show Jay, fun to hear the excitement still in your voice as you talk about some of the greats back in the day. Guest posers of those that I saw were Jeff and Cory Everson, Sharon Bruneau that impacted the way I trained, or my girlfriend then wife now, would train. Jeff would put on a clinic of how to train, and what not to do while training. I still follow his lessons to this day. Now you impact what I do as well. Keep this stuff coming Jay! Continued blessings to you and yours!🙏
The guest poser that changed my thought was Mike Mentzer at the Mr.Minnesota bodybuilding contest after the Olympia when Arnold won the show Mike said Arnold had control over the Olympia because of he won the show so many in a row in the past. I went to Golds and Worlds gym a couple times in the 1980s and it was a site to be seen I talked to past Olympia winners and watched photo shoots from Muscle and Fitness magazine. Good Jay walking video guys these can never be to long it’s the best thing to watch so much interesting stuff you guys talk about .
I saw Kevin levrone as a guest poser around 1997. I had never seen a pro bodybuilder before that was one of the top pros that I would see in the magazines back then. He was massive and inspired me to kick my training into overdrive.
Memories... I saw Arnold and Franco guest pose at the Mr Pittsburgh contest when they were the current Mr Olympia. Franco also did his strongman act, in which he blew up a hot water bottle, just like in the movie Pumping Iron, and deadlifted 700 pounds for reps. Also attended the Pittsburgh Night of Champions/Pittsburgh Pro, and saw Robbie win in 1979. Entering the lobby to the shows, the BBs would be at tables, selling merchandise and signing autographs. They were superhuman up close. It's like watching basketball or football, then standing next to the athletes. Next to each other, they all look "normal," but up close, wow! Of course, this was my inspiration to train. Keep crushing it and bringing the content, guys. 💯👍💪
You've just put the movie The Barbarians by Ruggero Deodato back in my mind! Now I need to find the blu-ray! 90s bodybuilding has a special aura for me. I was a teenager in France, started to train and I was reading Flex and M&F magazines, dreaming about Venice. Such good years.
thanks again for another great video Jay and Dave i find them so interestring it really all i watch anymore . i only went to one olympia it was in ny in 1998 got to meet Chris Dickerson outside and Ronnie as he walked by me at the end inside it was so cool. Guys if your ever in nj id love to say hi. Keep the content coming
I saw Casey Viator guest appearance and Sergio Oliva at Mr.Midwest in like 1980 when I went with my friend who’s brother was competing and ended up winning 1981 Mr.America Sergio was just standing there not flexing and looked like 2 legs hanging off his shoulders because his arms looked so big. It was great
Man Jay just gotta say I love ya for everything every time I could afford it I would buy any mag I saw you on the cover of still have the 09 cover back home, what years man I’m a truck driver now but I gotta send you a nice art piece hopefully you’ll hang up!
Thanks again for teaching me to do the 2 days on 1 day off thing for training. I did 48 sets yesterday and today I did like 12 on back plus 10 on calves. You rock Mr. Cutler.
Jay keep motivating! I'm an over 15 year old fan of you. I just started working out after fifteen years ups and downs... I'm gonna reach the highest level of myself. thanks JayTV.
Love the Jay walking series. Feels like I'm in the room with two buddies talking. Jay is so down to earth. Nice to not hear about politics and serious stuff. Sharing memories with us in the most natural way
I don't know, Jay... you remember the good old days when everything went too fast... but look at your life now: a wonderful house, a girlfriend with whom you can grow old in harmony, dogs to walk , neighbors to greet, a legion of fans who love listening to you talk during your walks, less violent but just as effective training sessions, an influence that endures... if we could go back and say to young champion Jay what awaits him in his future, would he be happy? I think so. You are an inspiration to so many people...
Great listening to some of the stories as they brought back some memories. I lived next to Ed Connors on Paloma Ave Venice but had moved out in 1990 before you got there. SO close to the gym. There were a few who lived there before you and Jim Quinn comes to mind. Was great seeing some of the legends at The Mecca and getting there early to watch Tom Platz train legs was awesome. Great memories-thanks!
I’m just mostly hyped for Andrew Jacked at the Olympia… they focus on his little flaw aka hamstrings but flaw no more. Dude is dangerous! Underrated due to him being so new, but man the dude just draws your eyes 👀

Went to a seminar with Lee Haney in Framingham mass, golds gym back in the day when he was in top. Unbelievable motivation just to be there
