Time management has honestly been the toughest thing about starting medical school. I am 3 months in and still trying to figure it out. Thank you for all this solid advice!
*_Finding a balance between studying and life is so important. The good thing is that you will become more efficient at studying for long periods as time goes on! Great video_* 👍
I suggest that studying could be a hobby if you put it into mindset so you can get work done and have fun as well. Ik, it sounds cheesy but it could really work
~14ish months in for me - fwiw, the having no idea what you're doing doesn't really get "better", you just get more used to the feeling and (hopefully) come to appreciate that almost everyone feels the same way you do until well into residency... also, if you're intentional about figuring out your preferred study methods and what kind of routine works for you early on - by this time next year, you'll be able to focus mostly on the material and studying, and less on your feelings of overwhelming anxiety...
Dr. J, I've had difficulty feeling guilty for relaxing in my first year of med school. I'm always prioritizing sleep and appreciate your comment about doing useful tasks such as laundry during breaks. ALSO, thanks for the brutal honesty about the no fap ordeal and it channeling more energy. I've not had a personal tie to this issue, but I'm interested in hearing men's perspective on the old j seshs. Thanks again for being real : )
Increase productivity and become highly efficient with these habits:👍 Focus on most important tasks first. Cultivate deep work. Keep a distraction list to stay focused. Use the Eisenhower Matrix to identify long-term priorities.
Hey doc. Please make video about ,,what subjects do you have to know to start medicine". Love your videos they are awesome, i get lot of information from you. 💗
Not in Med School yet, but studying for the MCAT and taking a full course load + girlfriend + life = FRUSTRATING. This showed up on my TL for a reason.
Thank you for this, Dr. Jubbal!! But how do i do this as a college freshman studying at home? We're currently doing online classes and sometimes I get overboard with the time I spend on studying. I forget to eat, sleep, and even have a social life :< It feels like there's no distinction between school and home. Heeeelp 😩
hey! It would be very helpful if you do a video of how would it look like for a caribbean student applying and practicing in USAprogram, since how would they write MCAT or obtain their GPA? It's very confusing
I seem to recall you mentioning you had a brief stint in powerlifting, would you say it’s possible to balance competitive fitness with medical school and challenging residencies?
Hii, dr Jubbal. Loved this video. Just a small suggestion, I think you are speaking too fast at several parts of the video and it makes it a bit challenging for non-native speakers to understand your point. It would be better if you pay attention to that. Rest of the content is 5 star
First! :) or second :(. Quick question on something you touched on - you said you would do Pomodoro but for some topics in which you had an interest you would just power through it. I heavily use pomorodo but even for topics that Im interested in because I'm worried about burning out. Is pure interest sustainable in the long term for studying in topic areas that you are interested in?
Yes, read about "sexual transmutation", it is something that can really boost your performance as you channel your sexual desires into energy for your work.
