Inflation has been terrible across the world since 2021-22 for two main reasons: 1. COVID and 2. Russia's invasion of Ukraine which has caused huge energy price increases and food shortages due to the blockades on grain, cooking oil and fertilizer exports from Odessa. The inflationary effects of COVID are over but Russia's aggression keeps inflation high for people across the world.
Milka is one brand -- but the price of chocolate is *not* cheaper either in Russia or worldwide. There is actually a global cocoa bean shortage due to diseased crops. In Russia it is hard to find any chocolate bar under 100 rub and some common brands are now over 200 rub. Likely Milka just reduced the amount of real chocolate -- just like brands that were 100g are now 90g or 80g. Thanks for the video.)
I'm from Spain and the chocolate I used to purchase at a local supermarket chain and made by Ibercacao (a Spanish manufacturer) went from 0.68€ a 150g bar a year ago to 1.65€ the same 150g bar. It was and still is 55% cocoa. So I started to buy the Carrefour brand for 0.78€ 150g, the price is exactly the same as a year ago and the cocoa percentage is still the same too, a 50% But we are already being warned daily in the news to prepare to pay even more for chocolate in 2025 😢

but did sanctions cause fall of Ruble ? i would say they did, so... i hope war will stop because peoples on booth sides suffer for nothing. Leaders dont feel that, but people do.
@@Robert-ky5ks Fall of the Ruble has been caused by the failing Russian economy and the cause of that is Putin doing several things, 1. converting the economy into a war economy, 2. sending working age men to die on the battlefield and 3. pushing the working age population to leave Russia early on. The result is companies not able to produce required quantities of goods and not being able to get an adequate workforce.
No you are wrong..its BOTH ...the sanctions has of course, taking its toll too...anyone that understand economics in depth knows this..I studied economics in University level...its no doubt that its a combined factor here..
They import a lot of stuff through 3rd cuntry like Kazakhstan. They put up a shell company in Kazakhstan that buy products and then that company export it onward to russia. So the sanctions create a lot of extra cost which increase the prices of stuff, which is inflation. On top of that the sanctions have stopped russia from exporting a lot which have caused the ruble to fall.

I live in Florida. Before COVID, I was buying a gallon of vegetable oil at Walmart for $3.95, now the same brand is over $9. Meat has doubled or tripled in price, as have eggs and many other foods. One possible reason that the Milka chocolate got cheaper is that Milka changed their export recipe and are using cheaper ingredients and more chemicals that simulate that Chocolate taste.

Inflation in Sweden has been about 20% since 2022 to now. This is a problem in most countries, in the US and UK aswell. Your vids are very interesting and they look really good! God bless you! 🩵
In Europe, inflation started before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and it was because of the Covid. For two reasons. The first reason, has been the fact, many European countries put "money" in their economy to help some markets and companies while there was the Covid emergency, and the second reason it was the China supplies. Covid broke the China's supply to Europe, and that hasn't been fixed later because of the Russian's invasion. Russian inflation is very different, and it is very critically. Hi Natasha, bananas in Australia are grown here in this country and are not allowed to be imported. These bananas can vary significantly in price depending on the season, so anywhere between AUD $2.66 and AUD $5.95 which can be converted to 174.69 to 393.39 Rubles per kilogram. The legal Australian minimum wage is currently set at $24.10 per hour or at 1582.74 Russian Rubles, just to give you a fair comparison with purchasing power available when buying these type of products.

THANK YOU! And I am one of the critics (towards claiming food is sanctioned when it is not). THANK YOU AGAIN - for saying prices are up because of inflation. YES, there is a smaller correlation between sanctions and prices, in some products, but you are "the first" one now to say how things are, I really appreciate it. We in the west also have more expensive prices (and here too, it´s not because of some sanctions but because of inflation). Inflation has been high since the Russia-Ukraine war, and not only because of that, but partly affected by OPEC deciding to cut oil production to make energy more expensive worldwide. Now many countries in the west have lower inflation, but then again, I fear that with Trump (if he starts trade wars as he is engaging in already), then we might see a new wave of inflation, at least with some items. Anyway, I am thankful for your latest video!
Sanctions are imposed with intention to harm Russian citizens and make their life harder, than they protest and destroy their country from inside, than after west put their pupet president and take Russian resources. But they made mistake Putin is not drunk Yeltsin
Well do some critical thinking, you noticed how everything is cut in this video. Google what the price on potatoes is in russia and you will see it's almost 100% higher then what she claims. So can you trust this video? How do we even know this video is taken now and not 3 months after the war started. Everything is cut. Just because she says the video is taken now, we should just take her on that?
Is your price comparison at the same time of the year? Like meat and vegetables are more expensive in the winter. I can see the trees in the background have no leaves. Thanks for sharing Natasha. What about apartment prices, increasing or decreased?
Food prices in Germany have increased by between 50 and 100 percent since Corona. Pasta cost 29 cents before Corona, now the cheapest is 79 cents. What is particularly shocking is that basic foodstuffs have increased so much. Butter costs around 2.50 euros today, and 1.50 euros before Corona. All in all, supply chains have suffered in recent years. I don't think prices will come back.
What a laugh this channel is! With the Russian Central Bank having a core interest rate of 21% a year, with mortgage rates starting at 25% a year, with the Russian ruble losing 20% of its value in just two months, with butter being under lock and key in every supermarket across Russia, along comes Cinderella pretending that sanctions are not having a effect on food prices in Russia! Natasha, give us your spin on the massive Russian defeat in Syria. That will be a good laugh as well!
Yeah there is a reason why she don't bring up price on butter. But at least you can see the real inflation on bananas. And if you google price of potatoes in russia it's almost 100% more then what she claims. Could be that she lives close to the farms that produce it and that she isn't making fake prices. It's hard to tell since everything is cut in between takes.

Hi Natasha! Absolutely, we all shop for groceries and fuel where we live, and we're interested in the cost of living in Russia too. Your informative vlogs bridges our two countries together. Keep your informative reporting on going my dear...God bless you too!
Funny in Canada the price of gas is the lowest since Covid hit. When Covid hit , it went down to 59 cents per litre. Now the price is $1.09 but is much lower than the peak last year at $1.61. So gas has really dropped a lot in price. Groceries have gone up in price but if you shop around you can cut your bill in half. I know Florida was always bad , I have a house in Florida and Publix is horrible and they are all small stores with no variety. I did find some cheaper stores but they were further away but I did a big shop at these discount stores in downtown Kissimmee. If I was living in California, I would move. My daughters friend is coming over for Christmas and she is from California but she is going to University here in Winnipeg because it is dirt cheap and she is dual Canadian so no foreign student fees. I paid for both my daughters educations and I still have $50,000 left over that I will have to withdraw from the fund and dump it in the stock market or something. I paid for my own education in the 1970's by working in the summer and I even paid board and room. Then I found the railway paid more money, so never used my degree in EE. I would rather live in Ukraine where things are very cheap. I have been there 6 times and my wife is a Ukraine citizen so I could move there. In 2018 to get a filling for a tooth was $10. It might be $20 CAD now. I took the train from Dnipropetrovsk to Kiev , about 450 km, and it cost $10 and that was with a bed on the train and some juice and fruit for breakfast. McDonalds in Ukraine was 1/3 of the cost in Canada for a Big Mac. My wife got her face laser treated in Ukraine and it was $150 and in Winnipeg we checked a clinic and it cost $1500 for the exact same thing and they wanted you to do some b.s. cream treatment first so instead of a 1 hour visit you had to come back three times. Imagine she pays zero property tax on her apartment and they don't bother with insurance. The only fee is for elevator maintenance about $5 per month.
California is like a separate country, politically and economically. I filled my gas tank in Minnesota last Saturday for $2.50 per gallon. I was in San Diego, California in April and gas was $5.50.
Nice video Natasha. I don't know if it helps, but in Netherlands the prices at the groceries increased by between 50 and 100% over the past four years. So Russia did a lot better despite the sanctions.
today, 10.12.24 the ruble is at 103 per dollar and moex (moscow stock exchange) is down almost 2 % for the day (and down almost 20 % for the year)... and russian inflation is crazy (but it is worse when analyzed as a variable of a nation's ppp)...an example of russia's economic woes is the average railroad speed of 35 km/h (10 mph ) which is the slowest since 1991... my advice to the average russian person is to buy items today that you can resale/trade in the future ... my BEST advice to the average russian person is to get out of russia while you still can...

look, the sanctions never have been about food, tbh. It was all about double use items and so on. Furthermore, most brands left Russia, because they feared to get seized by the government.

It depends from the sanctions and from working force deviated to fight in Ukraine. Russian inflation it is the fruit of the war, and can only go worst.

Shifting all industrial capacities to the military complex is never a good idea. Also did not work in germany 90 years ago.
Russia currently spends 6% of its GDP on defense. During World War II, the United States was spending more than 40% of its GDP on the military. As a result, the US GDP doubled from 1939 to 1945, and the economy became the largest in the world.

With the Russian ruble falling fast, of course the AUD prices in ruble is going to look high.
To an American these prices seem very low, but salaries in Russia are much lower. We've had some inflation here, as well. Appreciate the videos, and getting a look at your world. Sometimes it seems that Russia is an entirely different world from the USA. But believe you would like it here. Where we live there is no winter as you know it, for example. We shop at a military commissary where food is sold at cost.

Trump won and we'll see the country get back to normal if people would just awaken from the stupor the screens have put them under.
Sanctions are imposed with intention to harm Russian citizens and make their life harder, than they protest and destroy their country from inside, than after west put their pupet president and take Russian resources. But they made mistake Putin is not drunk Yeltsin

I'm not a percentages type of person, but all I know my weekly grocery bill is about $25-$30 more. Fuel for my car increased $30-$40 per tank, here in the USA (Calif.)
It's amazing that I noticed your opening scene of that store looks so much like our Target/Walmart in my city...very peaceful stroll on the streets too.
Greeting Natasha.

I have been several times in Russia and in many shops it's few people shopping any time
today, 10.12.24 the ruble is at 103 per dollar and moex (moscow stock exchange) is down almost 2 % for the day (and down almost 20 % for the year)... and russian inflation is crazy (but it is worse when analyzed as a variable of a nation's ppp)...an example of russia's economic woes is the average railroad speed of 35 km/h (10 mph ) which is the slowest since 1991... my advice to the average russian person is to buy items today that you can resale/trade in the future ... my BEST advice to the average russian person is to get out of russia while you still can...
What does average railroad speed have to do with economy?
@@barslars6038 everything... think about it... how long does it take for a bag of belarus potatoes to travel from minsk to vladivostok?... oh yeah. never mind, i forgot that belarus has banned export of potatoes to russia for 3 months .. so it'd be 4 months for a sack of old potatoes to reach vladivostok on a train... and in 4 months the price for those old moldy potatoes will have doubled
look, the sanctions never have been about food, tbh. It was all about double use items and so on. Furthermore, most brands left Russia, because they feared to get seized by the government. It also affects food for sure, but not a single food product was sanctioned at all. Most big companies just don´t deliver directly, anymore - Kazakstan or Uzbekistan aren´t sanctioned, though...that´s were the brands usually come from, these days. India and China are another source as well.
To be fair the food price increases are inflationary not sanction related. It’s a worldwide thing.
Hello my Grushenka. I love Russia and all things Russian. I have just finished Brothers Karamazov, hence my nickname for you (i hope you don't mind). I want to read more Russian novels. What are your favourites?
I like stories by Ivan Bunin and “Laugh in the Dark” by Vladimir Nabokov 🤗
@@natasha-rostova How about Dostojevskij?
Keep that haircolor. It is perfect 👌
Thank you 😊. I like it too
Thanks for the video. Best wishes from the U.S.
The good news would be, you have no food, cars, heat, fuel, water…
50 countries , not just nato, support Ukraine.
But lucky Russians, your allies are Iran, Cuba, North Korea, China, Syria ooops, nope.
Свои влажные мечты оставь при себе 🫵
But anyway.....thanks for watching.
Finally a scientifically correct comparison shopping video. We already have the Rosstat data so we know the difference is big. But the other m id wit bloggers just go "look how many people are in the shop", and the comments say "I am from Canada British Columbia Oblast and people can not longer afford food". This is way better. Thank you.
Keep safe. Merry Christmas.
My sincere condolences.
It must be terrible when your president is only concerned with his own wishes and destroys his country's economy in the process.
Terrible that Mr Putin places the security interests of his country above those of NATO.
No, all people support president against f a s cis sts like you.
Lovely, all fantastic in Russia, prices even go down.
Russian economy is collapsing due to this war,, people is suffering this is just a start and next years higher inflation will double or x10
Я не страдаю ☝️😉
Хватит врать про страдания. Все к Новому году готовятся.. 😁
No. Russia has 40% of world resources. And don't suffer from material thing like you.))
I understand that what is something that you want it happen but sorry it will not happen. Go to sleep and dream on😂😂
Same here in the West. Unions ask for higher wages and are surpirsed next year prices go up again. Also USD wins against EUR.
