    Tell you what, I'm 79 years old. My first automotive job was at a Rambler/Metropolitan dealership as a lot boy after school. Put a 52 Cadillac engine in my 49 Ford when I was 18. Worked at various dealerships, gas stations, and garages over the years until I switched occupations. That was absolutely the first time I ever saw anybody pull an engine with the hood on! I was really looking forward to watching you put the engine back in with the hood on! Didn't happen. Now that I've pulled your chain a little 🙂 just want you to know I really like your channel. If I wasn't so old I would have made you an offer on the Torino. Really liked that car!! Keep up the good work and keep your hood up! or off....

    • @peterphillips1493
      @peterphillips1493 8 месяцев назад

      Don’t take the hood off unless absolutely necessary.sits around taking up space,good chance of getting damaged,then the damn adjustment could give you problems even if you mark it and use the old bolt position marks in the paint.

      I popped a 390 out of my 67 f250 and put it back without taking the hood off. Yeah it's harder but it's nice to close it and cover everything if you're not finished. And yes the hood alignment is still the same

  • @wraithconscience

    Always get a "breathable" car cover. I get them from HP and the cost about $50. They do have to be replaced every year because the sunlight and UV rays make them porous and brittle. But that's what the covers are there for, primarily to absorb and protect against UV rays, which destroy all plastic, leather and rubber parts -- interior too, dashboards, rubber weatherstripping and plastic trim especially. If you own a convertible, the breathable cover will save your top and prolong its life by 10 years. Oh yes, a desiccant pillow in the trunk and under one of the front seats will absorb massive amounts of moisture and protect the wiring and leather from corrosion/mould. Every month or so, remove the desiccant pouch and leave it on a radiator or in a sunny window to dry out for 24 hours, then return to car.

    The Gus-man needs a nail trim Chris :) I've had dogs all my life and I just set a reminder in my email calendar to do it once a month. That way, you get them used to it and you're only ever just taking a smidge off and there's no danger of getting into the quick, if you're skilled. As it stands at this point, you'll have to be more aggressive with how much you have take off and that's where you can get into trouble and get into the quick with black nails, that you're guessing on. They hate that :) And, you'll make them wary of the whole process as a consequence.
    I'd say, take a safe amount off, then revisit the trim in two weeks. Then, just take off a bit and repeat in another two weeks. The quick will recede as the nail gets shorter, so your job will get easier as time progresses. You just have to keep on top of it. Just don't get carried away :) I've seen owners that have their dog's nails so short, they look ridiculous and the dog can't do what they should naturally be able to do in soft terrain. Basic rule of thumbs is, once they don't make any of that clicking sound when walking on a hard surface, that's the perfect length, you don't have to go any shorter.
    Dog advice over :) Loved the video! That is one beautiful car your friend has. Thanks as always for posting and looking forward to the next one!
    Cheers, Sev

      I've put them before the fuel pump before. It can cause issues with the pump being able to siphon fuel from the tank.

      Much of the car is already unoriginal, including paint. No value in keeping what’s left. Might as well make it newer and more fun. I’m sure if it was a numbers matching all original car, it wouldn’t have ended up in Chris’ garage.

      No, if it was me, I would kept that engine wrapped up in plastic and filled with marvel and the c4 auto. Just to keep it complete. But some ppl don’t care and honestly I don’t see it adding a lot of value. But I am a car guy 100%

    Just love the flow to your videos my man, been watching for a long time. My life has been much like yours doing same type of stuff for 35 years since i was a kid. My first car was a free 1978 pontiac sunbird a friend on my school bus parents owned and after seeing it sit a few weeks of school and dropping him off I asked him about it and the parents gave it to me. I got it towed to my house and ended up doing timing gears on it. Was a 2.3 liter maybe? Cant remember but it was green coupe white interior clean car rwd auto.... I played with that car everyday and finally fixed it granted i was a tooth off or maybe it had a bent valve cause it never ran perfect. But I just figured stuff out, been doing that my whole life.
