Wow, you could not have scripted a more epic game. You two do the best playthroughs of anyone, IMHO. Every moment is fun to watch. Please do a rematch! In fact, maybe a monthly game of Dune Imperium is in order! That spice must flow, after all.
So kind of you to say Jon, very glad you enjoyed!!
Totally second this! You both do the best playthroughs! I was going to leave that comment and then saw this one so figured I'd say DITTO! 🤩
Thanks for the video. A few rules corrections/FYIs :)
- You can still go the Mentat spot even if the Mentat isn’t there (just for the card draw)
- You need to play a card, choose a location, place your agent, and pay the board space cost. THEN you can activate the board space and your card’s agent box in any order.
- You are correct on the timing of Harvest Cells (very end of conflict phase)
- You do get the two troops from Treachery even when you use it for an Agent Turn. The card has Unload so you get the two troops from the card being trashed, and they must go straight into combat.
- If it says Lose 2 Troops and doesn’t say from where, you can choose from combat or from garrison.
Great to see my all time favorite game played by one of my favorite playthrough channels!
Was on the fence about getting Immortality but after this playthrough, I'm sold. Not many boardgames that a comeback like Naveen's would even be possible. Exciting to the very end. The "watching it played" part of Watch It Played is in good hands!
Amen to that! -Rodney
Worth everything just to see Naveen's face during the final conflict. 🤩
Agreed :)
Naveen, your face lighting up in the last round upset made me laugh. Great playthrough, love to watch these.
The expressions brought me joy too! -Rodney
This playthrough was it. Such an exciting one in the end especially. Love you guys and all of your playthroughs!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Good job Naveen!🎉 This is my new favorite game of last year and possibly this year. What an epic game of Dune Imperium with all the expansions! Thanks for the great play through!
What a thrilling playthrough. I hope we can see a few more Dune Imperium videos from you.
This was such a great playthrough and very fun to watch! Definitely did not expect the outcome.
Thanks for joining us for it!
"i played the long game but i think it was a little short" im busting that out next time i play 🤣
This vid gets a 👍 before even watching. Dune is amazing, looking forward to watching this!
Thank you!
what a fantastic play through, really enjoyable to watch, i really love watching you two play games together, I think the first game I saw was Brass : Lancashire and immediately bought it! your synergy works really well and makes all the games you play very watchable. Keep up the great work and thank you 😊
Very kind of you to say Chris - thank you!
This session was really entertaining to watch. I’m not even sure if the expansions are worth it for us, but wow, unexpectedly tight!
The expansions are amazing 🤩
@@SwedishWookie We actually bought IX (acquisition disorder lol), but we enjoy it!
Not totally unexpected. In my experience, Dune Imperium games are always a tight finish.
At 24:20 you can resolve the shipping track rewards in any order, meaning you could take the 2 spice and then buy the restricted ordnance tech using the newly gained spice and -2 discount
Naveen had some cool backdoors into combat. One of most fun strategies is to build a combat heavy reveal deck with the cards like treachery that let you sneak troop on reveal either stealing first or barely commiting anything for 2nd. Your agents just gather resources and gain influence and ppl never are quite sure how much they have to commit.
I think Monique could’ve played one of the daggers instead of diplomacy to go to Hagga Basin and deploy 2 more troops. That might’ve been enough! 😊 Awesome playthrough, love the energy and skill of both of you! 🎉
Thanks Alexandru!
I would have gone for a different opening if I was her.
start with "wealth" for 3 solari, and Arakeen all-in on the combat for the 2nd turn for smuggling for 2 solari for a total of 5.
In the 2nd round another visit to smuggling for another 8 solari, and then visit swordmaster.
But in this case, Naveen would likely have blocked smuggling in the 2nd round.
In my opinion Yuna's biggest strength being able to get both swordmaster and high council by round 3.
Wow! What a finish 👏 I recently bought the Immortality expansion buy haven't had a chance to play it, and it was great to see it in action. Great playthrough👍
Thanks for joining us for the play through - glad you enjoyed Billy!
Awesome video. Favorite board game content creators playing my favorite game.
Some minor rules goofs but overal very solid gameplay.
1:14:15 Naveen should in fact get the unload/reveal bonus from Treachery, as the card gets trashed which is an unload condition. So he should get 2 more troops in the comflict for free that round.
Haven't seen final battle, but Monique could have used invasion ships tech tile to visit Stillsuits, and then use Flagship to put in those 3 troops and 2 more from garrison.
They made a mistake at 1:27:15 Naveen shouldn't have won the way he did. The two cubes he mistakenly added after the plot made a huge difference.
Wow, fantastic game and great narration! That was tense right up until the end. I love this game!
So glad you enjoyed!
This playthrough was just as epic as the 2nd movie, and it proves that dune imperium is one of the best board games out there
So glad you enjoyed the play through, and the game and the movie (the second movie surpassed my already high expectations). -Rodney
that was such an intense playthrough - I have found that this is not uncommon in this game which is why it's one of our favorites!
Love how often this game has epic endings. Great video!
I did not expect this finish! -Rodney
So exciting at the end! I also thought Monique had that game in the bag. This was the best play through of Dune that I have seen. It also taught me how that second expansion worked in practice which is great as I have just purchased it. Great job you two. Well done Naveen!
Thanks for the kind words, very glad you enjoyed!
Great playthrough! And wow, what an ending! 👀
I have Dune Imperium, but I don't have either expansion yet.
Rise of Ix looks really interesting. Not so sure about Immortality though.
Sooo enthusiastic in the beginning. It shows u love the game. Just bought it today 😊 and as said,Naveens eyes when he went past and win was a big turnaround 😮 what a great game you had.
Have a great time playing Daniel - so glad you enjoyed the video :)
Really enjoyed this video, thank you. The pace is perfect - a nice mix of explaining strategy without taking too long for a turn. Looking forward to other play through videos from you both 😊
Very kind of you to say!
I was introduced to this game and I bought it next day. is an amazing game. I do not have the full miniature edition but i think is not necessary.
That's awesome!! Have you tried the expansions?
I was so intimidated to introduce the new expansions. Now after watching this video, I never want to play another game without them!
So glad you found this helpful to see in action :)
Absolutely epic.
So glad you enjoyed!
That was quite the finish! It should be part of the advertising for sure.
Woooooahhh Naveen with the comback. I felt like I was watching sports with the amount of emotional investment hahah. Epic.
Wow, this wasn't only a demonstration of Dune Imperium and all expansions, but also a demonstration how tide turning this game can get. That's why i love this game. You can still win it, when you won't give up. A purely tournament game.
It can provide some real tension!
Fantastic playthrough guys! Some minor things I saw...and spoliers below!
1:12:49 Hagal should have sent in a Dread and a troop, would have affected deployments...and might have stopped M from getting 2nd - but Naveen was getting 1st anyway. She had enough spice to do what she needed to do next turn anyway.
1:14:00 you ABSOLUTELY get the trash effect on the bottom of Treachery when trashing it, so two more troops. That's why that card rocks. And then you'd have some more in reserve for rd 8 - not sure it would have mattered. (Would have had 1 extra troop, to 21 strength total.) Naveen still would have won that conflict.
Wow! I thought that was going to be a stomping at 8-3, but to get to 13 is really something. Show that you're never quite out of it in this game, and the end game cards make a difference (better have 1 trick up your sleeve!). The scarab card might have been the winner. You're right, the retake is HUGE!
Also..came upon this rule, and I never knew about it. I suppose it has implications for House Hagal! "Each dreadnought in a Conflict is worth 3 strength. (Also, your dreadnoughts provide strength even if you have no troops in a Conflict-your strength does not become 0, your swords still count, and you may play Combat Intrigue cards.)" !!!
Good catches Allen!
Not sure if already stated but Monique didn't take her combat benefits at 1:22:58
@@chrischi7005 1:27:15 Naveen adds two cubes after a plot intrigue (Double Cross), which isn't legal, because it's not a conflict icon so you don't get to drag in "up to two" cubes. This allows him to win the conflict and earn two VPs. If it wasn't for this error, Monique would win.
4p Dune Imperium is my number 1 game!
Second time watching. This playthrough was better than most movies! Great work.
So glad you enjoyed - this was a fun challenge to take on :)
Great job! Really enjoyable to watch. Cheers 💙
Thanks Brian!
ALL IN!!!
Loved it, but Monique! You should have played your Invasion ships for your last action to go to Stillsuits and add 2 more troops to the conflict! Maybe Naveen had another intrigue to add to the combat, but that would have swung the game.
No shame though. It is easy to see these things when you are just watching at home and not swept up in the moment. Great playthrough of a great game.
Excited to see this one! Love Dune: Imperium, but haven’t gotten Immortality to the table yet.
For these games like this with variable player powers, how do you choose your leader for the games you record? Random or do you pick ones you think will be interesting to play or showcase?
We do a combination! We narrow down the ones we think will showcase well and then randomly distribute from there. Thanks!
That was a really good exciting playthrough and really unexpected! It shows how well balanced this beautiful game is! Love it!
Really glad you enjoyed!
to me this game shines at 3 or 4 but it is a very good one - still undecided about Immortality but Ix is a must have.
Our favorite player count is 4!
Great video! Your playthroughs are always must-see TV, especially an epic Dune face off.
Thanks Henri - this one turned out to be a real nail-biter!
My goodness, what an epic turn of events!
This is my family's defacto favourite game.... I also have all the expansions and now I am hunting for the promo cards!
What are these promo cards you speak of??? We must have them too!! 😀
I thought this was one sided, but that ending! what a comeback!
So glad you enjoyed :)
Thank you, it was a great playthrough :)
Appreciate the kind comment, thanks for checking it out Andrey!
Great play through, going to get it to the table now with Immortality expansion which I got a while ago but not yet tried!🤓👍
Have a great time playing Jeremy!
What a dramatic win for Naveen! Congratuation 🎉
That was a great match. One of my favorite games.
So glad you enjoyed!
Holy Worm what a comeback!!! That was insane.
Love your gameplays! :)
You guys have dune uprising in the plans? Super excited for it!
Thanks for the interest!
1:36:00 Naveen priceless face .. well done mate.. well done..
I loved that moment too :) -Rodney
*SPOILERS* Genuinely thought Naveen was toast in the penultimate round, thought Monique's strategy was great but I can't believe that comeback, wow!
1:27:26 Naveen doesn't get to add 2 troops to conflict at this point. He didn't play an agent to a conflict marker, it was just a specific plot card that gained him 1 cube (practically one of her troops deserted and changed their color). Edit: Basically he wouldn't have won in the last conflict because he would have had 15 strength against Monique's 17. Edit2: And she would've won the game. IT WAS JUST 2 CUBES!!
WOW!! Tight, exciting ending that was so close!
This game was awsome.... the battle for the 1st VP was epic 🤟😎
So glad you enjoyed :)
At 47:18 i was just hoping Naveen would go buy Spy satellites tech and get 3 points 😩
Update: He still won the game either way and holy damn that ending was tense!! Great game
It was quite a conclusion. I was sweating this outcome! -Rodney
The year of Naveeeeen!
Well played! Thanks for sharing a very entertaining game. 🖖
Thanks Thomas!
Wow, what a comeback Naveen 💪
Hey guys! Do you plan to make a video on Dune Imperium Uprising? Would be great.
We don't pre-announce upcoming videos, so we'll have to see! :)
Is playing with both expansions your preferred way of playing?
Totally!
39 minutes when one trashes a non in play card lol
on a serious note there are quite some rules thus its alright to sometimes miss one c:
Good job guys!! it was awesome
Thanks Marta!
Awesome job Monique and Naveen (thats my nephew's name, so bonus point FTW!).
Do you have plans to run it back but do so with the new uprising standalone expansion? Maybe you can get Rondey to join for epic 3 player action! 😁
We don't pre-announce videos, but that would certainly be a fun idea! -Rodney
@WatchItPlayed haha well I can't wait!
As a side note, I have a friend who launched a game company and has a cool space-themed 4X fast-paced card game he is launching...if we wanted to see if there was interest in giving it a go, how would we go about doing that? I saw a video from last year where Monique and Naveen shared some thoughts on that when they were interviewed (link here if it works: ruclips.net/video/4bM7muNP6ls/видео.htmlsi=wknvTBo59EOkqur2)
@@buyaka777 I don't have time to watch the video, but I can let you know that on the channel here we don't feature games while they are at the crowdfunding stage, so that wouldn't be the right fit for here - there are quire a few channels that do cover crowdfunding projects while they are at that stage though. -Rodney
@@WatchItPlayed thanks Rodney! Still can't wait for another play thru with the 3 of you for Dune Imperium uprising! :)
@@buyaka777 We live in different countries and continents, so it's not likely, but you never know.
Pretty sweet game looks like
Thanks for checking out the video!
Amazing game. The tension is amazing.
Thanks for checking it out Eric!
Not sure why the AI player didn't start with garrisoned troops at the start of the game, anyone knows?
We followed the House Hagal 2-P rules according to the base game setup and it says they start with no troops in their garrison
So House Hagal dreadnought doesn`t cover any space when they win a combat?
They do and there is a priority order established in the rules.
Just noticed that they put the dreadnought back into the garrison. So got confused. Thx :)
Klingon is a different universe :)
Ha! Fair :)
Should the rival move up on the shipping track for winning combat with the shipping reward?
The rival doesn't collect any rewards from combat
@@BeforeYouPlay Thanks! Great playthrough! Congrats Naveen! That was an amazing final 2 rounds.
Isn’t it spice? Not salt?
It is a joke, because it sounds like someone’s attitude was “salty”
Pretty sure it's called The Salt Melange
Watch the rest of the episode :)
Best game ever !
Do you guys have any idea when the app update will happen that includes the expansion? As of right now neither Android nor Apple version seems to have the expansion cards that I see your House Hagal use :)
My guess is you are using the old app (which I believe was called Dune, or something), you'll want to grab the newer Dire Wolf Game Room app, which is the one they update now. Monique and Naveen didn't have early access or anything, they just used this app. Hope that helps! -Rodney
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks Rodney! That was actually it.
Epic
Can anybody help, I've been wanting to show a friend the Cuba Libre playthrough with Matthew, Rodney, Monique and Naveen but I can't find it (I can find the 6 hr learning stream with Matthew and Rodney).
The teach: www.twitch.tv/videos/1299595197
The play: www.twitch.tv/videos/1299598428
Thank you!!! I tried Twitch with no luck but I'm the first to admit that Twitch confuses my poor brain 😁
What’s with the title ? Did they not realize it’s “spice” or is there an inside joke
It’s explained in the video :)
That was awesome! Lol
Thanks for checking out the play through!
I second Jon's suggestion of a monthly Dune game. You two do not need Epic mode. What I like about Dune Imperium is the tightness of rhe finish, when someone gets to 8 or 9 everyone is in it.
But to see Naveen come back from 3-8 to win even with Monique crushing the tiebreakers.
And having a dreadnought instead of a troop would have cost him the game.
What can I say, mind blown.
Pretty wild ending, right?!
That's why Dune Imperium is my favorite game. I have both expansions and still only played IX solo once and Immortality not at all. I live vicariously through your playthroughs.
Thanks for all you and Rodney do for the boardgame community.
