Hello Froggy, First off, I love your video's and have used scores of them to work on my C5. So thank you! I'm in HI and finding someone, other then the dealer, with a GM Tech 2 is proving challenging. I need to a TECH 2 to disable the MSRC option on a 2003 AE Vette as I just installed some Blistein B6's. I'm a bit scared to by a clone. Should I be?
Mine was "good enough". Not like a 2k real one, probably will not survive a drop to garage floor, but it does work. Thanks for viewing!
Works for me so far. Not as RUGGED, handle withcare, ok for light home use.
hi Froggy, will this tech 2 clone change the vin of the ecm off another vehicle? will it require subscription or log in online?
I just rewatched this video and I know why your tool wouldn't pass the test. It was because you had the wrong adapter on for the VIC test. You had the DLC cable with the OBD 2 adapter on the end. Instead of the 16 pin adapter at the end of the cable, you needed to attach the adapter that's on the table right next to you. RUclips DrShock's Tech 2 dc converter replace video. After he fixes it, he puts it back together and runs the same tests you are trying. The adapter to your left was what you needed to actually connect. The correct adapter looks like it could plug right into bottom of tech 2 with or without using the dlc cable...because it can!
Thank you Isshman.
You're right. It's because the numbers in the user's manual are wrong. The one he should have used looks like a 'computer plug'. I'm using the same device and they work well.
Your VCI module is laying on the table under your left hand in the video. it goes into the PMCIA slot at the rear of your TECH2 hope you didn't have to wait 3 years to figure this out.
No but thank you dude, still got it not used much.
Good Morning Foggy
I hope you having a great day there You at. I'm calling from Houston TX
I have 2005 chevy trailblazer lt am looking for some thing to unlocked SUV radio.
Could you tell me how much the Tech 2 tool cost?$
It was 2-300 a clone. Worked for me.
hows has this worked am looking into buying one for my diesel silverado
Very well.
hi have you tried it? How does it work? Can you tell me where you bought it? greetings from Mexico
Ebay, works very well, small issue with connection of serial cable to unit, not a perfect fit, it's a clone.
Sorry that I miss spell your handle name ok
am installing new injectors on duramax you think it’ll read balance rates
Sorry, not sure. Anyone Know?
:)
Buy a cheap OBD 2 dongle and download Torque Pro app for Android, then you can read rates for a few bucks
i mean like program keys , radio, and live data
Not sure , sorry. I use for engine codes etc. To repair stuff.
Does it have CMP retard function for setting timing on
Hi I have just watched your video on the tach 2 would you know it these would work
On my 90 c4 corvette which has the OBD1 port
Well, I looked at the one I got (clone). It had a lot of adapters but I did not see one for obd1. You CAN buy just an adapter (obd2 to obd1) for not much. However, you also need the correct software module to put into the tech2. Mine had the gm module that included 2013 vettes. And others. I think 2005-2013.
So if you are looking to buy (mine did work quite well) you need to CONFIRM the correct adapter & module. Some of the companies do offer different modules. THANKS for asking.

Hi, not sure on your comment, I don't use it that often. :)
can you do bidirectional?
Not sure, you mean program the ecu with the tech2? You need an older laptop and a subscription to gm's update/calibration data.
of course it does, software is oem, so what oem does, this does also. I give it max 1 year until the dc/dc converter will fry.
@@liviu2004 Maybe, I don't use it much though. thx.
