This is a common thing. It happens in local tournaments I’ve played in. Ace pots being pocketed when noone gets an ace, showing up to get my players pack and said they ran out, i played in a 300+ player tournament last weekend, over 30000$ and the players pack was a grip6 belt, a keychain, a cheep hat, and a used putter. Yes a used fucking putter. 2 years ago it was 3 discs, a hat and a disc golf bag. Where is the money going????
first time ive agreed with you guys on a topic lol. cant believe terry said that people were "talking shit." just because others are okay with having their money stolen, everyone has to be okay with it? its ludicrous
It doesn't matter if they somehow find a way to save the event he still admitted to committing a felony and he does deserve jail time. If you go into a store a steal 26k+ you will go to jail no matter if some ppl think you're a good person. If the pdga doesn't suspend him from running future tournaments I know I will end my membership and only play non sanctioned tournaments. If they don't think he should be suspended then how can anyone trust them with their money either
My view from the cheap seats as a business owner who reads Supreme Court decisions for fun: $26k is not insignificant. Some jokers on the board may think it as a rounding error, but they have lost touch with reality. There is a threshold for financial crimes and $26k skips right past the felony line without so much as a tip of the hat. Could be embezzlement, could be grand theft, could be something depending on the statutes in the jurisdiction. For criminal charges, I don’t think it is up to the pdga to make a call. Again, depending on the particulars of the jurisdiction, it is possible that any single player who registered for the event and has not gotten a refund by oct 6 would have standing to bring suit. Disc golf guy terry needs some serious coaching in when to know he needs to just shut up. A lot of times when he misspeaks, often victim blaming, he then gets all pissed off and doubles down by over-explaining and blaming a different set of people. Just stop, dude. If someone complains that you didn’t defend your boneheaded 2 line post, just openly admit that you don’t handle counter responses well so it is best for everyone to let it lie.
As of the admittance in his post none of them have to wait till October 6 he openly admitted to the crime before then which means none of them are guaranteed that refund and I'll guarantee you it never happens. I think anybody defending this trash should have to help him pay it back if they think he's special. Especially since none of them want him to do any jail time
@@williamheaton3254 I can’t get my head around the hand waving of a blatant crime. Yes, he screwed up. Yes, he broke the law. No, his admission of that does not mean “no harm, no foul, as you were”. The more people at the top play the “let’s not be hasty” and “but he has a good heart” card, the more I think this is a more pervasive problem across the sport than anyone realizes and the defenders and hand wavers are scared more financial shenanigans could be uncovered.
