- Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant is excited about the St. Croix Tactical frame for the Glock® 19 Gen3 platform. "Great, another Glock® frame," you may be thinking. But the SCT-19 is really well made, says Caleb. It feels good in the hand and is "extremely affordable." How affordable? Depending on how much of a cheapskate you are, the St Croix SCT-19 costs LESS than dinner out with your spouse / significant other. Yeah, THAT affordable!
The SCT-19 comes with a nice set of features. It is, of course, molded from tough, reinforced polymer with stainless steel slide rails and locking block (the locking block is removable). Exterior texturing is a big thing on aftermarket polymer pistol frames, and St Croix went for "ladder" serrations on the backstrap and frontstrap, with deep, aggressive (but not painfully so) texturing on the sides of the grip. There's an untextured area near the mag release, so you don't scrap skin off your thumb as you operate the mag button.
The SCT-19's triggerguard is neatly undercut for the main grip hand and ALSO for the support hand, so you can get a really firm hold on the pistol. A pronounced but not exaggerated beavertail lets you maintain a high hold on the gun, close to the bore axis, for excellent control without risk of the reciprocating slide slicing the web of your hand.
Aftermarket extended magwells will not fit the SCT-19, but St Croix makes their own magwell for it (sold separately). Up front, a full-length M1913 Picatinny accessory rail is ready for a light or laser sight. The St Croix Tactical SCT-19 frame for Gen3 Glock 19 is serial numbered and must be sent to an FFL dealer when purchased.

What mag release do you use?
I've got one of these, so far I'm really happy with it. I've had it at the range a few of times and the grip is really great and it's a solid shooter. I have the Brownell's slide on it and it really enhances the tactical look. I'm curious to see how long it holds up being so cheap. It's a fun project, and I highly recommend it.

That's actually a rehashed Strike Industries model Strike80, sold in 2019-2021
Holster compatibility? Thinking this might be a good host for a PSA Dagger slide if it fits regular holsters.
Besides being an actual frame made for shooters by shooters it's got a locking block and costs $40 or so . Definitely need this frame.
I just received mine couple days ago and I am extremely happy with it I've not got it put together yet Still need to get a couple other pieces but I think it'll be just fine It fits my hand perfect It's got a good feel to it and it looks and feels to be made really solid

Interesting that the St Croix company that makes fishing rods is also based out of Wisconsin.
I could totally see them branching out and doing these Glock frames.
I'm sure there's a lot of similarity in the materials.

It’s a strike 80 frame with more stippling. Meaty hands will give you slide bite with this frame. It’s a nice frame and slide fit is good, just put more beaver tail on it.
Do you actually get slide bite from this frame or is this merely your opinion? My “meaty” hands are prone to slide bite on the PF940C and a few others. But I have no such issues with this SCR frame.
i read somewhere that you can build it to shoot 40 and 357 sig with this frame
1. The rear serrations should be made vertical rather than horizontal. Other than that it looks perfect.
2. Do they make it also for Glock 17?
3. It's great it's serialized - we'll need it with an official serial number if we want to purchase it here in Europe.
4.The price is really good. They will sell tons of them if the quality matches the original.

Well, it was inexpensive until the 4th of July weekend... then it went up $15.00 ! Now it is cheaper elsewhere (like Primary Arms). Otherwise a great frame.

Got one one month ago. Did a complete build and the first day after 25 shots the frame broke at the under rail for the light. Sent it back to brownells. I did notice that the frame felt light and thin compared to my friends stock Glock 19. Went ahead and ordered a g19 since I have all the internals and complete slide

The original Glock barrel and slide have matching serial numbers. How does someone go about legally carrying the gun with a frame that has a different serial number?
Slides and barrels do not legally need to be serialized, just the frame. There is absolutely nothing unlawful about carrying a firearm that has a slide and/or barrel serial number not matching the frame.

I never would have imagined anyone would make an aftermarket frame that doesn't fit in the standard holster, it seems like a really dumb idea.
Unless you're just that kind of company and you also sell the holsters..
Still doesn't seem like a good idea though, because as much money as you might make selling holsters, you would sell a hell of a lot more frames if they fit the stock holsters.
@@deejayimm Almost zero aftermarket Glock frames will work with Glock standard holsters, the frames would have to match Glocks externals very closely to go into a Glock holster. IMO would kind of defeat the purpose to make an aftermarket frame just like Glocks. I wish holsters held onto the frame differently so they work with a variety of frames but most do not.
@@jpvaulter95 Yeah clearly I've never bought one or really given it much thought, I just assumed it would be dumb to sell a product that makes all the holsters no longer relevant.
@@deejayimm I definitely understand that, luckily I'm sure some holster companies will make a holster for this frame. There is a video by AIM SURPLUS that mentions some holsters for it that already work.
Take a lighter to your holster and it’ll fit
just ordered mine and look forward to using them. I've heard the grip texture picks up a lot of grime though. I'm disappointed Brownells isn't selling P80 frames in teh colors they used to offer.... and I mean unserialized P80 frames. We need those back !

Once again, a new grip for the outdated gen 3 glock. I have a gen 5 and there is nothing out there for gen 5.
Sadly to say the frame isn't robust and well made. I have less than 150 rounds, and the cracked and inner structure pieces fell out. Mainley in the structure that the recoil spring ingages the lower. Absolutely unsafe to shoot and unrepairable. Honestly there are better aftermarket lowers and I have to go back to Polymer 80. In addition to the lower isnt truly gen 3 compatible. In many cases it would only function with gen 4 parts. Example gen 4 trigger bars. The polymer used seems to be too brittle. So it has to be destroyed for safety purposes. If you own please be cautious.

That is a copy of a Strike Industries Polymer 80 frame.
Maybe beefed up a little, but yeah, basically identical.
@@Pyreleaf Not completely identical. The Strike Industries 80% frames had an issue with the plastic in front of the trigger guard was ever so slightly bent downwards after the extrusion process of making the part. And the only way to straight the frame, was to heat it up and bend it straight again. Hopefully this frame doesn't have that issue.
@@paraglidingnut26 Yeah, I heard about that. Damn shame, because I otherwise dig the whole cyberpunk aesthetic they got going on. Wasn't getting a glock anyways though, so it's a wash in my case.
