It seems like animators in Japan are struggling to keep their jobs, is what I gather from the two recent interviews published by TVPaint (Suezawa and this). It is all about cutting costs on the backs of artists, that are now paid for the hour and most certainly without any job benefits, while companies pay fortunes for licensed software.
i admire this guy, thats some real sakuga right there! awesome
I had the luck to meet Mr. Hori and Mr. Otsuka earlier this year. Mr. Hori is an extremely impressive animator!
I wish I could draw like he does, his artwork is truly amazing
You can too if you practice
@@MINISWISS1 I was about to say the same thing
@@MINISWISS1 i tried to draw the same art style as trigger
But im still nowhere close
Man I actually like to see this dude work on a ep of steven universe. He seems like a huge fan a has a lot of skill. He would enjoy is alot probably. Also he could get used to english and stuff. Though travel costs and working with cartoon network to make a steven universe episode seems not possible at the moment. I know about global communication and ish. But I really would love to see him work on a ep of steven universe.
This is late but if you didn’t see it he was an animator for the movie!!! He does know some English, if you follow his twitter (@ porigoshi)!!! at least i think its him posting English tweets, could be a friend translating? But!! He was responsible for arguably both of the most popular ones - Change and Other Friends!! He also did work on Steven Universe Future opening and OK KO!! He did amazing work!
I respect TV Paint very much...but the price of the software for a freelancer like me is very difficult to acquire the software.
Any way I liked the interview.
@DeludedDesktopAlien Should I get TVPaint or Clip Studio Paint?
@@extrem2497 As a guyy who uses TVPaint, it's really about being patient and learning not the tool itself. CSP EX has a good animation setup, but the timeline is weird.
@@extrem2497 Krita or blender are better options
@Leo MILLTON skill matters most. Krita and blender are more than enough for anything
@@extrem2497 For free Opentoonz.
I've started ysiung both TVP and Opentoonz though just to see if i can get a functional workflow going.
why do sakuga animators look like they dead inside
Lmao
ChroniJedi these hard working people work for more than 7-9 hours a day. Which means they dont have a lot of time to look after themselves...they dont get to sleep enough sometimes because they get to stay to 3 am and more, which also makes them lack physical energy.. there are a bunch of sad facts about an animators life unfortunately.. but it is fun ad heck tbh
@@HamoTheUltimate 7-9 hours is pretty normal tbh
@@MOE-ke6xw animators work more than 9 hours almost half of the time
Because they are lmao
I have so much respect for this dude.
Simplesmente incrível, a qualidade é ótima, manda muito !
Love it!
Very good interview
i need to buy this, for years i had problems with animating things.
1:38 Steven universe? 1:39 this is a better time to stop and pause
He was a guest animator for one of the episodes of SU.
Chickendog the honest the movie and future
Awesome!
It's very good 😊 2-d animation 👍🏻
Awesome :)
He is a beast. Redline is awesome
Very interesting process, and insight into the traditional vs digital animation perspectives.
Also, is he using a Cintiq 16? It's like the perfect size.
Hello. It is a Cintiq Pro 16, yes. :)
caraka muito show
algun dia harán tutoriales en español?
Excuse me I have a question to ask about TVPaint, since its possible to bring hand drawings from paper on to the software, is it possible to make animations with those hand drawings?
BlueTrainer12 I mean you still have to draw it yourself
Yes. You create the animation in traditional fashion , drawing with pencil on paper (punched animation paper that fits over a registration peg system on the animation desk/light table), then scan the drawings , import into TVPaint. Adjust the exposure of each drawing as needed. You can also use the Scan Cleaning feature in TVPaint to clean the drawings so they may be digitally coloured in TVPaint.
@@jeanandre4023 Is there a way to get the drawing into TV Paint faster, without scanning them, like snap a pic of the drawing, or maybe a book scanner that takes a pic?
I have tvpaint but I don't have time to draw at all because of time consuming. That's why I switched to 3D as a modeler and rigger.
Because 3D modeling and rigging takes so little time to do ??? LOL ! It's ok to just say: "I like 3D modeling more than drawing."
@@jeanandre4023 Oh, hi! I still do draw (not animation) but I can use 3D at the same time for illustration, rendering, and unreal engine 5.
Just enjoy whatever you're doing and what you're good at! Hope you have a good day
is Tvpaint need to pay? I want to be animator in future
im pretty sure you need to pay
if you want a free software, blender greaase pencil is free and pretty good for 2D animation
Tahoma2D is also good. Very full featured and it is free. (Tahoma is an offshoot of OpenToonz).
TVPaint
Clip Studio Paint EX
Adobe Flash/Animate CC
Retas Studio
Moho (Anime) Studio
OpenToonz
Toon Boom Harmony
I will work at a Japanese animation studio some day~ I went to Japan and studied japanese for 3 months when I was younger but gave up because I couldn’t get used to their lifestyle~ 5 years later, I feel I’m more mentally prepared and continue my path towards my goal :) these people may look tired but they have burning passion inside, which is why they sacrifice their own health which is not always good but I rather be unhealthy doing something I love than have a job I hate for 35 years and be unhealthy lol 😝
It would be difficult to get used to the "lifestyle" of working extremely long hours for meager wages in the Japanese anime industry.
Darling in the franxx season 2

I don't care for CG animation.
get some sleep
