In fact there’s a lot of things that are better in Japan, For example art and free-speech are a lot more appreciated there. That’s why there’s so many obscure and often times worrying anime titles, not because that’s some thing that is appreciated by the people as a whole, but because people somewhere in Japan appreciate it, and it’s not the right for other people outside of that niche to judge it.

I find it normal for most artist to be self taught. I've been drawing art since I was a kid, I drew all my favourite anime characters and made my own anime characters. From their on, I learnt more about art. Never went to art school, most art people I knew who are good art did not go to art school.

Japan is so closed off from the outside world that they didn't know that there are more anime watchers overseas than anime watchers in their own country
Given that what feedback gets back to them is loudmouth Puritans yammering about how bewbs and lolis are contributing to the downfall of civilization, I don't blame them for trying to keep the walls up...
It's not just that. I've been working on Anime Conventions in Germany for almost 20 Years now and i met and talked to a lot of mangaka and Anime Producers over the Years. Most of them are amazed at the number of Fans outsite of Japan because they are not involed with the publication and Licensing at all. They get paid per volume and thats it. Also they don't really search for reactions from outside of Japan, as most of them don't understand English, German or any other Langauge. Higuri You was a total exception from all this though. she was very excited when we invited her here in 2004. In fact she came to Europe quite a few times after that. Still, your not wrong about the "closed off" part. that too is a big factor.
good, won't be anime anymore if shows starting getting influenced by the cancer of Hollywood
@@Psychoseek I agree, this was also my experience while doing some guest relation work at german anime conventions and talking with anime and manga producers in Japan. They usually know that there are translations of their anime or manga in other languages, but they are mostly totaIly unaware of how big their non-japanese fanbase is (notable exceptions are big names such as Akemi Takada who have visited several western and asian conventions for more than two decades now). I think it's mostly due to the language barrier and also the lack of time to look up/keep up relations with the non-japanese fanbase.

cause it looks better hand drawn and color it digitally.
It depends on a studio. Some studios are fully digital, some still use paper.
As an aspiring animator in the U.S. seeing a large part of the animation process for anime is really inspiring. Learning about the Keyframe test and different colored papers is super interesting! Thank you so much for giving us a look into this process.
but how do they convert the hand drawn art into digital?
@@vimic3I believe you scan the hand drawn papers and the computer displays them digitally. An artist goes over the frames fixing any errors that the computer made and cleans everything up. (The process is described at 9:51)

I like how they are technically showing the behind the scenes for ditf. But sadly, i think they arent working on a new season since most of the footage of them working on DITF was on already aired episodes
Darling in the franxx ain't getting another season pp head
I was curious about that because I didnt know that CloverWorks had a hand into making DITF
I was also wondering about the DITF drawings and animations shown in the video (all from season 1, hopefully not the only season), and thought maybe he filmed it a while back
The director and writer of Franxx, Atsushi Nishigori, works at CloverWorks. They produced about third of the episodes, while Trigger produced one third and A1 the remaining third (technically CloverWorks is a branch of A1, but in this case A1 means other substudios than CloverWorks).

not really, Cloverworks is a pretty new studio, that usually works under the bigger A-1 Pictures.

@@MrThybomb The average animator in Japan makes around 3500€, which is totally decent.
The highest is about 5500€.
That's more than a lot of jobs would pay you in Germany.
I expected worse.
I truly hope you are right but with a google search I found the median per year is about 1,478.62€. (Sticking to your currency) Obviously it's hard to get an exact price as it's a big industry and animators are usually paid per page. The first article that pops up in a google search is Kotaku from 2017 entitled, "Make Anime in Japan, Get a Shitty salary. " A youtuber I enjoy called the canipa effect talks about wages in his video, "The NPO Animator Supporters Project And Aiding The Industry. " Also talks about how under paid they are. This underpaying started with
Osamu Tezuka resorting to it so he could get Astro boy off the ground and compete with American cartoons in Japan. Unfortunately the Japanese have a very humbly mindset and many have stuck to the tradition of not paying well as they felt that if Tezuka was only worth X amount they were less. I apologize for such the long response but I once was passionate for Animating and it's history.

They probably were working on something new at the time, but when they show the DITF material, the statement says that it's for *illustrative* purposes. Studios don't reveal the actual work until the right time and they have the permission to do it (as Mr. Shimizu stated in the interview), or they could hype the fans in vain if the project is canceled for any reason, or even could face legal actions from the publisher. All the material shown belongs to the archive of Clover.

1 year gone. 5 more to go!
Yass, lets go! I'm also on the same journey. We got this
Same path as you as well ~ We can do itt
Finally got to know why it takes years for them to sometimes make a season 2 lol
It's like that everywhere in the world , it's a combination of how much budget they have and how much staff they have , even western animated shows like Rick & Morty or Final Space take 3 years to make 1 season
I am always so amazed at fans who shout "SEASON TWO" the day the last episode airs. There are so many factors that contribute to renewing or not renewing a season. First, profit gets ignored all the time, if the anime didn't make money, no one is going to invest in a season two. Not enough materials for season two or enough materials but lacks the good composition it needs in an animation format. Time and effort, people have to actually draw everything, it is not whisked together in three seconds.
