    If you have something like After Effects ... Don't anti-alias inside TVPaint. Use a pixelated brush for your linework! Then use the OLMSmoother for After Effects to anti-alias the drawings afterwards. It's more efficient when you want to change things around. It's how they do it for Japanese cartoons.

      And if you have something like Clip Studio Paint you don't need AE since there is a "Smoothing" feature that does the anti-aliasing job.

    This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you. One of the things I find very useful is what you have shown here (in the upper left corner of screen) , creating a custom panel that has each color swatch with each of the swatches labeled, so it's easy to switch between different colors on the character's color palette. I always do the same thing by creating my swatches first in the Palette panel , then right-click on Palette and choose Custom Panel From Current Palette. Then click Edit on each color swatch and Name each swatch.

    could you teach how to make such crisp lineart in tvpaint? i struggle with that soooo much

    • @haydenbrowne5876
      @haydenbrowne5876  7 лет назад +9

      Depends what you mean by crisp. If the line's blurry you're either using the wrong brush or your project dimensions aren't high enough. If you mean the clean (not scratchy) lines, I get that by doing 2 sets of roughs before cleaning up. And then when cleaning up I try to draw strokes quickly to remove jitter from my hand.

    Hey Hayden thanks for this tutorial. I am wondering how we can get your color palette plug-in, or are there any similar ones that we can find? Thanks a lot!

    • @haydenbrowne5876
      @haydenbrowne5876  7 лет назад +7

      Yeah, no problem. It's not a plug in. See at the top the drop down menu that says custom panels? Should be an option in there for new custom panel. then when it opens up rightclick in it to add whatever tool you're using and name it etc. You can also export the panel as a little file to use on different computers. Let me know if you have any trouble.

    What is that block named "DrunkManToolbar"? It seems like a color pick that's what I need, but I can't find where to open it. I'll be appreciate if you answer 🙏🏼

      I named my toolbar drunk man just cos that was what the film was about. To get colour pick just hit semi colon on the keyboard.

    why did you create that black siluette layer? what does it matter?

    • @haydenbrowne5876
      @haydenbrowne5876  6 лет назад +2

      Sorry I should have explained this more explicitly in the video. When you fill a character with the paint bucket the fill doesn't reach all the way into the corners especially when the paint bucket is set to default. as your character moves around different colours of the background shine through the characte and the animation looks dodgy.
      Every animator i know solved this problem by manually painting the corners in with a painbrush/linetool. this was what took the majority of the time in colouring. the sillhouette removes the need to do this.

      @anjelomichelangelo7726 6 лет назад +1

      i thought exactly the same, but than i wonder if that layer had any other usage. ty for answer.
      also i really apriciate if you do some video "how to add light source on character" or "shadow area on character". that would be great and helpful.

    CTG lauer more faster!

    • @david_t_nethery_animator
      @david_t_nethery_animator 7 лет назад +5

      It's true that CTG is faster , but it is available in TVPaint Pro only . Many people don't have TVPaint Pro , they have TVPaint Standard , so this is a great tutorial for those who need to use the standard flood fill tools .
