Location
1. Sodom and Gomorrah are located around the eastern side of the Dead Sea.
2. Gomorrah is located at the base of Masada, and Sodom is about 13 miles (20 km.) south of Gomorrah.
3. Though the actual locations of the cities are somewhat disputed, the growing evidence reveals that the locations are quite certain. This evidence is provided in the following section.
Historical Background
1. Josephus, a historian writer during the time of Christ, said the ruins could still be clearly seen in his day.
2. Archeologists have discovered around 1.5 million bodies in graves in these areas around Sodom and Gomorrah.
3. There are a lot of brimstone (old name for sulfur) balls in these cities.
4. This sulfur is unique and different from all other sulfur found in the world.
It is around 90-95% pure.
It is white, unlike any other place in the world.
It is so pure you can light it on fire, and it burns a hot blue flame.
These sulfur balls are not found between the cities.
5. There is a lot of ash in these areas which fits the biblical narrative.
2 Peter 2:6: And if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter.
6. The material of these city formations is calcium sulfate, which is what limestone and sulfur become when heated.
7. The choice building material in Israel is limestone, so these cities fit the scientific evidence as well.
8. There is a lot of charcoal layers found in the strata of these cities.
9. The amount of ash, charcoal, and calcium sulfate reveals overwhelming evidence of extreme heat in these cities.
10. There is also no geothermal activity in these areas to explain the ash, charcoal, and calcium sulfate.
11. In addition, there are many unexplained shapes in these areas that look like buildings, Sphinxes, pyramids, and palaces.
12. These cities existed around 4,000 years ago, so their remains would be difficult to distinguish. Plus, God destroyed and reduced them to ashes as well.
13. These cities fit the location as described in the Bible.
Genesis 13:10: Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere-this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah-like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar [Zoar has been identified as being south of Sodom and Gomorrah].
14. Because the Dead Sea basin used to be like the Garden of Eden, it was an extremely desirable climate that was great for agriculture and life in general. It was, therefore, a very populated area.
15. The thought of God raining down fire and brimstone upon the cities and peoples in this area is staggering and gives me chills up and down my spine. This fire and brimstone were so hot and intense it destroyed everything in its wake.
16. God also used Sodom and Gomorrah to refer to all of the cities of the Dead Sea basin.

The Red Sea crossing site is perhaps as clear. The Egyptian size and style wheels in the sea corals are astounding! Add to that other chariot parts, as well as human and horse remains being found and captured on film and video, together with the pillars and the perfect location, then we really have something amazing! Dear @MR. Allen , I agree that it is mentioned "I and my father are one". But on the other hand it is also mentioned that, " my father is greater than I", "my father is greater than all". so when Bible says, "God and Jesus are one" it doesn't mean that Jesus (peace be upon him) is God.
If I tell someone that I and my wife are one, then it doesn't mean we are physically one (else I will have to deliver the baby too :). So it means that we are one with same point of view and not physically God and Jesus (peace be upon him) are one"
In the whole Bible there is no unequivocal statement where Jesus (peace be upon him) said that "he is God" or "worship him". But from such verses which you mentioned, people feel that Jesus (peace be upon him) is claiming divinity. Instead Jesus (peace be upon him) had been glorifying God. Hope it clarifies.

We are not in the beginning of the Great Tribulation. Matthew 24 clearly tells us that the great tribulation begins when the abomination of desolation (which was spoken of through Daniel the Prophet) stands in the holy place (let the reader understand).
@@aChristian4RonPaul You are correct about the "great" tribulation. It is the last half of the 70th week of Daniel. But, there are 3.5 years of tribulation before the anti-Christ desecrates the temple by proclaiming himself to be God, and be worshiped as such.

Friend, there is great, fathomless depths that we can know Jesus. This life with his presence in my being....he is literally indwelling me. I am deeply aware of his presence, I am keenly in touch with him at all times. This Christian life is a deeply intimate relationship with Christ. I would doubt my own mother's existence before I'd doubt my Lord.
God has so much more for you than you understand. But, faith is key to that relationship. Believing his word, completely, because it says so, and I know this is the word of God. I know, I'm sure, I'm certain, I'm convinced it is THE word of God. Not because I see physical, tangible proof. And being THE word of God, I cN put all of my trust, hope and faith in every word, doubting nothing.
After the resurrection, Jesus visited his apostles. They saw him alive and knew he was resurrected. Thomas was elsewhere at the time, and when the other disciples told him Jesus has been there, he did not believe what he heard, but doubted it could be true. With human thinking and wisdom he reasoned it impossible, and wrote it off as untrue in his heart. He did not believe. He called Thomas to touch and feel as he had said (Jesus knew what was said without being there)blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. When Thomas touched and felt, he proclaimed "My Lord, and my God"! He believed, to which Jesus said "blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
Believe God's word with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and with all your strength. If you are faithful to God in obedience. Study your Bible regular, pray often, and meditate on all that pertains to him, he will build that firm standing belief in your heart, and you WILL KNOW GOD'S WORD IS TRUE.

On SB it is hard with our modern thinking that God would allow such incidents to occur. We are told in 1 Corinthians 10:11 that the record of the Old Testament is for an “example” to us. In other words, God gives us the whole truth about biblical characters, their sin, their failures, their victories and good deeds, and we are to learn from their example, what to do and what not to do. In fact, this is one of the ways God teaches us what we need to know in order to make good choices as believers. We can learn the easy way by knowing and obeying God’s Word, we can learn the hard way by suffering the consequences of our mistakes, or we can learn by watching others and “taking heed” from their experiences.

It is not a desert, the ground there is not sand, it is literally ash, it feels like you are walking in snow when you walk upon it, it certainly is not a desert, and it has been proven to be ash.

Humanism became the religion of the nation in 1963 as Baptists spent more time pointing at Catholics than advocating for a Constitution. The Pilgrims sacrificed their lives and comfort for what they believed. Today people with smart phones and computers are too busy to take a stand. And there is more.
I just want it to be done. I want the Kingdom of God. This world is more evil and more wicked than I could have imagined. It gets only worse and worse and worse. It is already in a state of abomination and depravity. It’s too much.

John S. It can’t come soon enough! But yes, good point, there seems to be a rapid exponential increase in sin and wickedness right before judgement and destruction comes. Historically, the Carthaginians significantly ramped up the quantity of child sacrifice right before they were destroyed by the Romans. The same exact thing happened with the Aztec empire, where things were getting worse for them and they increased their human sacrifices into a frenzy, until the Conquistadors ended their civilization. God doesn’t change how He does things, He has the same standards. Even though God used Israel to destroy the evil Canaanite society, God said Israel and Judah actually became more wicked then the nations they replaced, and God destroyed both of His nations, and sent them off into captivity. It’s hard on believers as things get worse, but at least it means that God’s intervention to end the cycle of human depravity is getting close!

This story is astounding me right now... years ago when I heard it I thought “wow that’s insane they acted that way!!” Now in 2019 I’m hearing it for the 2nd time and I’m un phased by it because this is the time we’re living in!!! @On SB i believe Lot was being tested and being loyal to God by protecting God's angels, it showed us how important they are. It reminded me about when Abraham was being tested by God when it came time to sacrifice and he put his son to offer to God. it shows that God responds at that last second when you think all hope is lost. those angels wouldn't have let anyone touch lot or his family.

I'll talk about Lot's daughters. There are several issues at play here;
One, Lot knew his guests were angels of God.
Two, in those days (still to this day in some parts of the world) it is imperative to treat those under your roof to your absolute kindness and generosity, care and protection. This custom was highly respected such that even your enemies would not press against you.
Three, to protect those in the mass outside his door from further engaging in deviancy.
How honored was Lot to have as guests these exalted ones. Lot's guests are sent by the LORD. Lot was bestowed with a great reverence but also a great responsibility.
The custom of the utmost in hospitality was well established by the time of Lot. The custom was highly respected such that even one's enemies would not press against their guests, even if these guests were unknown or suspect.* So highly would Lot abide by that custom and attend to his guests that he would send his own daughter before he sent his guests into the mass of deviants.
There was a mass of people outside his daughter demanding to engage in their deviant behaviors. They are going to break in the door to take what is not theirs. Perhaps Lot thought it was more 'natural' for them to have sex with virgins (disregard for a moment that the daughters were already betrothed and to none in the crowd.) Certainly Lot knew it was a great sin to have homosexual sex and a gross violation of Lot's hospitality. How wicked must they be to have no care for either God's laws nor that of man's law! Lot even tried to prevent the mass from themselves; "And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly." (Gen. 19:7) Lot is calling on the masses to put away their wickedness. Lot appealed to them as brethren though he was a foreigner.
Lot fled out of the valley but did not stay in the mountains. Lot chose to flee to the city of Zoar. Yet even then, knowing Zoar would be spared for his sake (Gen. 19:21), Lot fled the city leaving Zoar to be destroyed. Lot allowed his fear to overcome his faith. It was his fear which propelled him out of that city.
We had already seen where Lot sinned when he disbelieved and dawdled though being told to hurry! (Gen. 19:16) Now he has sinned again by fleeing into Zoar. And it is there that Lot 'negotiates' again. The angel had assured him but again, he gave into his fear. Lot sins again by allowing himself to become drunk on TWO successive nights. Did Lot know something which his daughters did not? Did he know that it was only these cities but not the entire world, not his entire blood line even, which had been destroyed? Perhaps. But we know, his daughters thought that was the case. (Gen. 19:31,32) In any case, it was sin counted against Lot that he allowed himself to become drunk.
