I wish I knew how filthy this fan would get before I bought it. At this price point it's outrageous that they don't provide easy access for cleaning the thing.
These certainly aren't "blade-less!" The design is flawed in two ways. First, it's built upside down. The inlet should be at the top where the air is cleaner, not the bottom next to carpet. Second, the inlet needs a removable filter of some sort so you don't have to take the thing apart.
Seeing a bladeless fan being cleaned like this and all the troubles you need to go through while disassembling it makes me appreciate my conventional electric fan more.
You just took the words right out of my mouth and that was exactly my opinion after seeing this video. NO ANNOYING MUSIC AND NO BLAH BLAH was very soothing to my ears.
I'm not going through the process. I physically can't do it. Its not mine but I wanted to be appreciative by, at least, cleaning the filters. I'll share this video with the owner of the Dyson fan.
I appreciate it, man. Got mine apart and back together and it runs so much better now. Definitely a hassle to clean it. Impressive you where able to take it apart with only one hand lol
Had to use this video again after a couple years, still works. Just in case it happens to other people, I got the F2 error at first. I had to take it completely apart again down to the motor, take the tiny gray box out and unplug and plug it back in, and had to make sure the wires where securely back in their little gaps. I also noticed that once I put in the top piece that requires the really long screws, it causes it to F2, not sure why. I just left the screws out and it worked again.
Very not fun to do it, but certainly a satisfactory process. P/s: for me the hardest part is assembly as it didnt show exactly how it was done. You tend to forget how things were when you dissemble
Had to switch off the air-conditioner for one day as the ledge where the compressor rested needed repairs. So, on my AM07, I went from my usual 6 speed to 10. Ran it for 8 hours through the night. Then suddenly a loud grinding sound. And the fan stopped. Received an F4 message. Switched off the unit and unplugged it for one minute and switched it on again. Received and F2 message. Disassembled. Not that dirty inside. I had maintained it reasonably well. But boy, the motor unit was super hot. Even after one hour, it was still very hot to the touch. Will update again when I have allowed it to cool sufficiently and reassembled it. I'm just wondering, if this fan was made to run under cool conditions with the air-conditioner working, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a fan? Or was it a coincidence?
Thanks for this video! Its really helpful. This will be the first and last dyson fan i would purchase. Even their vacuum cleaner last for less than 2 years. Overpriced and not durable at all.
@@hongjeffrey Not sure actually but I've for some time now been seeing great reviews on them. I've also watched a few videos on here about them too, seems like the ones to go with.
Want a filter on the outside vs cleaning the internal parts? Take a shop vac foam filter, cut it into 3 equal pieces, and slide one of the pieces over the inlet holes. Ill add a video when I have time. Cost is about $2-3 per piece and you can clean them or trash them after becoming dirty. So far so good on my tests. I did make sure to clean the internal fan itself as in this video before installing the new filter. Using a filter on a dirty fan won't work very well. Please note, adding a filter adds resistance to the motor, so it could potentially reduce lifespan of the motor and nullify your warranty, if any.
And the owner of this company is a multi-billionaire? The fan costs about 5 times more than a conventional fan and after 3 years despite cleaning the intake regularly it stops working without a complete disassemble and clean. How much do they say put into R&D??? What a joke. Thanks for the vid BTW

Good video. Note that the smaller filter is likely to disintegrate if you wash it with any force. Mine did and I just tossed it. Didn't make a difference. The hardest part is getting the wires back in under the assembly during re-install. Just be patient and mark the assembly with a Sharpie to show where the white feet meet the inside of the cylinder. Also mark the cylinder so that when you put the fan assembly back in you know you are aligned. I had the AM08 or AM03 not sure what the differences are, but the internals are the same as this video.

We got this for the toddler room ruclips.net/user/postUgkxdzUap46p9ViXhKZf5mK_bXOb89EHxTqq because of the bladeless feature. Actually has a lot more power than I thought it would. Can still feel the air moving well 6 feet away, which is farther than I would expect from a desk fan. My daughter dropped twice and still works. I haven't checked out how long it lasts on a charge yet, but the air output was still good for the few minutes it was unplugged. My daughter also likes the color lights feature, but I don't really care for it and can be annoying to go through all the options before it turns off. Overall, happy with the purchase, especially for the price
OMG, thinking we have the same pos fan AM 07? After only one short season of heat. It starting making the sound trucks make when backing up, you know the beep beep beep sound, but thankfully it sounded far away, just did a surface clean around all those holes at the bottom with a brush, now when I turn it on, it sounds like a plane engine starting up (what the heck is going on), so I called Dyson, only to find the closest repair is about 40 miles from me (live in San Francisco, don't have a car), what a joke. Did yours ever make strange sounds, trying to figure out if I should just toss it. Great job, Thanks for the demo.

Hi I have the same exact unit without the remote, on/off button does nothing, fan is all cleaned. how did you separate the bottom part from the motor , I want to check the current to the on/off button I removed the middle screw at the bottom so now the circuit board is loose from the motor but still can't completely separate maybe 1/4-1/2 inch separated seems as if something is still grabbing it any suggestions thanks.
Thanks so much for this video. Otherwise my family will continue breathing in dust everyday. Dyson made millions from us and they can't even guide us to clean a decent fan. Conventional fan is still the best. No more Dyson product for me.
I have a standard Dyson tower fan. It won't turn on anymore and is not supported because it is "retired." Do you think that being dirty is why the unit won't power up? I'm willing to clean it up if it will keep it out of a landfill.
Mine has a small fuse behind a cover that slides open at the wall outlet plug. I had a blown fuse. 125V 5A fuse. Not sure all the dyson fans have this, but worth looking at.
I love this, no narration. I guess with smart phones etc folks can’t string a sentence together anymore. There is really no need for the expensive education system so let’s get rid of it. At least no whacko music to deal with.

This helped me a lot. Thanks a bunch
OMG. I want to do it on mine. Thinking about to make a video just to remember how to put it back together after disassembling it. Even with this video (BTW, the best one I watched so far), I’m sure I will mess it up 😅. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻
Thank you for posting - can tell me what the foam thing you washed is? Do I need that? Mine disintegrated :( [I've had my dyson a long time]
Gave you a LIKE you really deserve it, lucky I have not taken the bottom part out, its tough for us ladies hope you can tell me where the continuation is please please
Hi I have the same exact unit without the remote, on/off button does nothing, fan is all cleaned. how did you separate the bottom part from the motor , I want to check the current to the on/off button
I removed the middle screw at the bottom so now the circuit board is loose from the motor but still can't completely separate maybe 1/4-1/2 inch separated seems as if something is still grabbing it any suggestions thanks.
Did cleaning it make it end up working?
Mine has a small fuse behind a cover that slides open at the wall outlet plug. I had a blown fuse. 125V 5A fuse. Not sure all the dyson fans have this, but worth looking at.
@@superrspace I never got around to it yet. 🥴
I did this and my fan won’t turn on :(
I did this and my fan won’t turn on :(
Uhh can do assembly back?
were you able to fully assembled it back after, and did it work?
Yes. Install in reverse order. Be careful with wires.
I prefer to buy another one 😂😂
I love this, no narration. I guess with smart phones etc folks can’t string a sentence together anymore. There is really no need for the expensive education system so let’s get rid of it. At least no whacko music to deal with.
Easier for the international environment. If I explain it as I go, some guy overseas might get confused.
Oh God! not really fun. Thanks for this video I get the idea but, the problem if I can remember to assemble it back 😀
what screw driver did you use for that also where could I buy one?
thanks will clean my fan ow for the first time since i bought it in... i think 2016 i never opend it up only cleaned it from the outside
Great video! But where's the rest?! It ends just as you're removing the bottom....is there a part 2?
Excellent video. Thanks so much for sharing. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to clean my dyson fan.
thanks for the video
Was given one from a storage unit. Tried to turn it on smelled like a cigar. Had to open the whole thing and cut my own filters . Thanks
