Yeah, I took a look at the ASL stats, and it's usually Zerg, and sometimes Terran that win. Unless I missed something, there hasn't been a toss winner since s5, which was in February 2018. I guess that's how many people feel it should be. Now that toss are doing fairly well in SC2 GSL, people are losing their shit, yelling for all kinds of nerfs.
@@tankbuggeru Yes, perfectly executed zerg is the strongest race. Fyi, first few years of broodwar, most people didn't think Zerg was even viable and ZvT was a joke matchup before the development of modern mutalisk micro.
I don't think it would ever happen, because 1v1 is probably chaotic/hectic enough to commentate on, but I would really like to see max plays supported team v team and/or max players supported free for all have commentary. Maybe the commentary could be on videos submitted and that have been pre-watched before the commentary, so they'll be easier to pick apart.
I don't know, but wasn't it like Tastosis said: herO got kind of sloppy and lost Ultras and Lings all over the map to just kill some Marines; the Vessels went largely uncontested and kept getting value through Irradiates; and the BC that he dealt with, he dealt with Scourge, after the second time he did that he was starved for gas for the rest of the game.
"My priorities are correct, I'm looking at the Terran" -Artosis I really want to play the silhouette guessing game, maybe as a webapp or something. I'm getting a surprising amount of them right. Not the maps of course because I don't actually play BW, but I'm good at recognising the units. And what the hell is up with "stay spoiler free" and then releasing another group right before the GSL finals? Now I have to watch that before GSL starts.
This map "Goodnight" Is a nightmare against Zerg for Terran and Protoss. Those side basses are basically unbreakable. I had like 5 bases as toss and just couldn't break the side bases, even with storm, arb, reaver, and then died to 100000 hydras and ling lurker.
Thank you for the English casting! Is Lee Hyun Kyung a starcraft pro as well? I imagine some of the interview questions are pre-scripted on the cards but she has some good follow-up questions that you need to have knowledgeable strategy to know to ask. pretty sure she knows her shit, sometimes she has really good follow-up questions based on the players' answers, and they don't have time in the live broadcast to script the whole interview etc
@@eMbry00s cool, I figured as much. I know she's been doing it for the past few years now and she really knows a lot about the various strategies, so I was curious if she was a pro gamer like the korean casters IntotheRain or american casters tasteosis.
@@darkjedi4z she's not a pro gamer, but she studies the games she hosts, BW and PUBG I believe. There's a long interview of her done by Snow with English subtitles on his channel.
The Royal/Her0 serie was interesting to watch. Not a big fan of the medic on ramp with flying factory overhead move. Felt a bit cheap, but Her0 did not pull from that attack, so I guess at the end that loss was on him. A lot of other things went wrong in that game for Her0, Royal deserved that win as he played well, kept his vessels alive and capitalize on any wasteful moves from his opponent.
It's worth mentioning that a common zerg tactic is stacking lurkers with overlords over them so the Terran can't click on them for irradiate. These tactics go both ways.
The "guess the unit" game had to be staged.... I haven't played SCBW in like, 15 years, but I knew them all easily. Like... there isn't anything else those units look like........
Thats actually a really inportant factor for old games. Because screens were small and units were a mush of pixels all units had to look distinctively different on a glance. This initial design goal then became the gold standard for RTS because it obviously helps players and viewers a lot to immediately being able to identify units
@@sergeyk9060 it's called an arbiter. Yeah pretty good unit. I'm referring to a game they played off stage to fill commercial time. They had to guess what unit it was based on the silhouette. I'm guessing you skipped it.
I fully agree.. I knew every single one of them. The only hard questions were the ones where they showed a tiny part of a map and asked people to guess them. That skeleton doodad is on many badlands maps over the years.. lol
Free vs noob when he went for the reavers in game 1 that cost him the game there initially wasn't a speed shuttle, it spawned/arrived at about the exact second noob got to the reavers so the call wasn't as bad as tastosis were describing it imo
hey, just an idea for the later rounds: Would it be possible to add a "spoiler zone" at the end of the videos where you just prolong the video by like 30 min, so you can't see e.g. in a round of 7 who's gonna win? If one player is e.g. up 3:0 and the video ends in 10 min. you know exactly who's gonna win, but if the video would go on another 30 min., you couldn't say by just looking at the time?
Interviewer: How do you feel going into the round of 8? "Now that I've advanced by the losers it means I'll be paired against winners, which are more likely to be much more difficult." Mini; Am I a joke to you?
So group C basically contains - the best zerg player - the best terran player - the best protoss player - stork too bad flash isn't here, then it would have been the 4 best players from all four races.
Tastosis may I suggest something, the observer does a lot of things that hint at what's important such as in game 1 they highlight the lack of overlord when zerg is at 9/9, which almost always means 9pool (pretty aggressive), but I noticed you never mention it in the cast. Paying more attention to the observer's cue might help build a better narrative
So far this round of 16 has reinforced my idea of matchup tier, no TvTs but I think it's safe to say those are the best of the mirror matches S TvZ A PvZ(Mini Games) B PvZ TvP C TvT D PvP E ZvZ F FFA
TvT above PvP? TvT is basically ZvZ with more sitting and just maxing. Same units same shit. PvP has plenty of build orders from the get go. Can be reavers can be DTs can be carriers can be arbiters. ZvZ is just muta ling. TvT is just vulture tank goliath then BC.
@@Genemesis TvT is much more exciting than ZvZ, PvP follows it one rung down, the problem with PvP is the stagnation, it's 5 minutes and then reveal your build, you could win or lose right there, if that doesn't happen it's 80% of the time a dragoon reaver battle that has all the enjoyment of ZvZ fights, lings vs lings or muta vs mutas, you say there are different builds like that matters, all the fights are the exact same. ZvZ is kind of awful to watch, you get the odd match that is exciting but a best of 7 is awful and it's the same thing with PvP. TvT is actually fantastic, you say there are the same units in the same progression, that's absolutely not the case unless you were to specify the vast majority of the units. There are so many different ways TvT can go, there are so many aspects of it, it absolutely dwarfs the other two mirror matches which is why it's ranked higher, every stage of the game has decisive decisions and can end in any phase, unlike PvP. I'm really tired and not explaining myself well, my minds racing with all the specific reasons that TvT is objectively and overwhelming better than PvP but I just can't find the right words or even where to start, there's just so much complexity in TvT to describe. It's strictly better than PvP in every way.
Seriously why do you not cut out the commercials? Nobody watching this speaks Korean or even if they do the ads serve no purpose for he 99% western audience that watches this, it's literally wasted time that everybody fast forwards, make the cast better and remove the ads
@@Sheldezare I get that but it doesn't make any sense, none of the audience understands the commercial, the products aren't available here and for the vast majority of the cases the brands aren't serving western markets, everybody just skips through them anyways. It makes no sense and makes the cast actively worse and that's an assumption, you could but right but I think it's equally likely that because the feed isn't edited at all they could remove them but they just don't. Same problem with audio sync, a touch of editing would improve the casts greatly.
@@bencheevers6693 You don't have a gaymin monitah? I have antipathy towards anything in commercials, but honestly I favor Jin Air and I really want some Hot 6. While western market is rather niche, it still benefits Afreefa's negotiating power as they can brag about international exposition when selling ad space. It does makes sense.

E ZvZ
F FFA
facts. Might need an SS tier for TvZ when a brainy terran like nada is playing, though.
TvT at C? Nah lol
@@duhnickduh2321 TVT is my favorite matchup. I enjoy the positioning
Nice one 😂 pvp being a slugfest
noob is very noob after 1st game with Free))
Royal vs free wasnt played good on both sides, Terran overvhelmed toss
notice when RoyaL scouts free first Artosis doesn't make a big deal out of it.
Tastosis sounds like a mouth disease
lol talking through their masks. what clowns.
please give me one cast where tasteless is not allowed to explain the most basic things for the 1 millions time, i would love that
Are we ever going to see up that skirt? She's way too aware. >
Tasteless, tell Artosis to stop talking when he's about to burp or hick-up.
P v P is so boring to watch.
Seriously why do you not cut out the commercials? Nobody watching this speaks Korean or even if they do the ads serve no purpose for he 99% western audience that watches this, it's literally wasted time that everybody fast forwards, make the cast better and remove the ads
Because they most likely are obliged by contracts to keep them in dude.
im willing to bet that Afreeca requires them to be kept in for whatever reason
@@Sheldezare I get that but it doesn't make any sense, none of the audience understands the commercial, the products aren't available here and for the vast majority of the cases the brands aren't serving western markets, everybody just skips through them anyways. It makes no sense and makes the cast actively worse and that's an assumption, you could but right but I think it's equally likely that because the feed isn't edited at all they could remove them but they just don't. Same problem with audio sync, a touch of editing would improve the casts greatly.
@@bencheevers6693 Contracts don't work on making sense. Also it doesn't take anything away from the cast. You can exert your ability to easily skip.
