The armor upgrade right after the +1 attack might have been to fake out Soma in case he wasn't watching the split second it finished upgrading and stopped turning
Every toss main thought about that! , And most probably it help if you see the replay after killing the forge, hydras left before charge is ready... 8:00 ish...
Oh I just now see that there were no zealots in vision to click on; then Bisu's trick is even better. :) But of course this is a very minor thing because if +1 was close to finish then Bisu would send out zealots to draw hydra fire away which didn't happen, and Soma's inner clock is good enough to know the "whereabouts" the upgrade is so he knew probably the lack of zeals coming out meant that the up is going to finish. Nevertheless I like Bisu's decision. Well you know as Arty is always saying it is truly amazing how deep SC is and we are talking about just a tiny tiny thing.
@8:00 I doubt Bisu ever expected the armor upgrade to finish. More likely, he started it so that Soma would see that the forge was still spinning, and if he didn't notice when Bisu canceled the upgrade just before the forge died, Soma would assume that +1 weapons never finished. This could have made an early engagement go better for Bisu, if Soma didn't check Bisu's troops for the +1 and thought they were +0. Just a small mindgame.
Too convoluted. Either Bisu expected to save the Forge (almost had speedlots in time) or he is such an automated player that started +1 armor without even thinking and then realized he had to cancel it.
@@beslemeto Ofc Soma checks that. But Bisu tried to hide his zealots to maintain that information away from Soma. This could be very useful for Bisu, specially if Soma decides to stop his hydra production and start droning after thinking that he destroyed the forge in time, which is exactly what happened. If you see carefully, Soma stopped his hydra production and only after Bisu took his zealots out to attack the third Soma started the hydra production again. The only issue for Bisu is that his attack was a bit too rushed. He should've produced more zealots before attacking the third while Soma was still droning. That would've been serious problem for Soma.
@@tehvolka i think the second thing here is the most-likely explanation, Bisu just kind of automatically doing it with no thought behind it, it happens from time to time
Wife left me after 13 years.. we have 2 kids 1 week each.. Iam 37yo .. I have never felt more alone at the nights when it’s kid free week.. Your voice and this game brings back so many good memories.. easier times, old friends, late nights.. and I don’t feel that sad and alone anymore ❤️ you and tasteless has been in my life longer than my marriage 😆❤️
Like a lot of others have said here, your videos are a huge impact on a desperate time for me. I'm a late stage cancer patient and have recently lost a lot of mobility/energy and I've been just BINGING all your casts I've missed over the last couple years. And honestly, the games have never been better!
i think one major thing i appreciate about these casts is that you aren't skipping ahead during the match. that's one of my pet peeves with watching SC/SC2 casts i've seen. i get sometimes action dies down for a few minutes but there is important decision making going on at ALL TIMES. thanks for casting this way, arty!
17:12 -- once the game had ended, Artosis should have *opened **_THE REPLAY_* to go back and check *just HOW MANY KILLS exactly* that DarTemp had scored !! :P .
Yeah I think Bisu really showed why his PvZ is considered one of the strongest out there. Soma definitely didn't go easy on him either, he used every trick in the book from sim cities, lurker egg abuse, drops, etc. Bisu, especially in PvZ, gained a new fan in me!
Great series Arti and cast!, we had everything macro games with 80 drones, short micro battles, lurker drops, sneaky DT, Air domination, both players deliver best out of the their race 👌💪, I hope you will do more of this.
intense and insane series!!! could have gone either way... the last game is as back and forth as the other previous games... thank you for casting this arty! much love of the Philippiness!
Bisu started armor on the forge when it was obviously gonna die because he wanted to fake that his upgrade got cancelled. Soma could have missed that the upgrade completed and meased with his decision-making.
I would love to see the MMR nightmares playlist expanded, maybe one vid a month. There is something satisfying about watching these pros play great games, then watching an F rank game to apply my own new game knowledge to identify what is going wrong with bad/inexperienced players.
8:02 -- Bisu starts +1 armor. My interpretation of this was that Bisu was hoping Soma didn't see the forge stop spinning, then he starts +1 to trick Soma into thinking Bisu had to cancel his upgrade, thus "losing" it from Soma's perspective. I'm 100% certain Bisu is an absolute genius if this is the case.
It seems likely this was the case, although Bisu may have also started it just in case Zealot legs finish and he felt he can come out and save it. Hard to say for sure, but I think starting the armor accomplishes both possibilities. Nice attention to detail there from Bisu. I don't think he just queued the upgrade and forgot about it anyway.
What a great end to an amazing series. Thanks for being so consistent in your uploads Artosis. Ever think of casting more older pro league matches from the KeSPA days? I watched one you did that was like an hour long and the meta was SOOOO different because it was so old. I loved it. Anyways, thanks for the great video.
Such high level play with the constanly evolving unit compositions and each player putting pressure on the other on various fronts. Clutchhh counter attack by Bisu and also clutch move by our caster keeping that DT selected while the kills mounted up. Wish we knew how many it ended up with... someone go check the replay haha
Damn bisu is just playing his army like a meat grinder. Getting good trades and saving his dragoons and his army gets bigger and bigger while Soma's gets smaller and smaller
I think he started the +1 armor, to keep soma there and attacking.. it was a mind game. Soma might of thought he denied the plus one, but Bisu would immediately hit him as soon as legs finished with plus 1. At least, thats what my thought process would be if I was Bisu, and you can see that Soma started to back off as soon as the forge fell. If he was a few steps closer those hydra might of been toast.
Arty - I was talking with Jinjin about pvz - why are dark archons usually not mixed in vs hydra lurker in midgame? I know theyre usually most valuable to trap mutas, but just seems odd that you wouldnt want to freeze lurkers incoming.
Yes, e.g. Falcon Paladin frequently does that. However, it's somewhat immersion-breaking and can interrupt the flow of the cast, so it's not necessarily worth doing.
Bisu immediately starting the armor upgrade on the forge as the attack finished, do you think that was an attempt to fake out whether the attack finished by keeping it spinning in Soma's view?
Spoiler: The pull back early with the group of zealots running around, coupled with the hard counter attack on the third and macro hatches really shows Bisu's mastery on the match up. Really impressive stuff, and I will say Soma really makes Bisu earn it because even with all of these good decisions its still very close!
Hi Arty, In situations where you’re putting pressure with hydras but corsairs are crushing your overlords in the early mid-game period, why don’t players use 1-2 spore colonies to protect the overlords at home? Is there any scenario where this could be advantageous? I’ve seen a lot of your casts, but never a spore colony to protect overlords and just wondering why. Thanks!
Hi Artosis! I've been playing a lot of Brood War lately, and I'm curious; why aren't more people playing on Shield Battery? It seems like it's overall just better in terms of ping and turn rate, plus I like that the black fog is gone from the minimap, which makes some things a lot easier for old StarCraft 2 players like me. I hope people migrate that way soon, it seems like a really nice service.
u didnt see artosisu but that tempalr got like 30(3 bases about 30-35 kills on drones, if u watch replay! he went top base while u were watching some other action!
I don't get why pros are so hesitant to put a sunk + overlord in their base / expos to defend against DTs in late game. How many times have we seen 10+ drones wiped to a single DT? One sunk and an overlord stops that, no? I don't buy the argument that it's expensive, because look at how many hydras get thrown away to storms for practically free. Regardless, it's a lot cheaper than losing 10+ drones
17:26 Bisu is multitasking so well that even Artosis can't keep up while watching. Soma fighting him on equal terms is amazing.
To be fair he also blocked his 4th nexus with a cannon and then stormed 2 of his own observers, but that happens to every player in SC1.
Artosis, you're helping me through some rough times! Thank you!
hope all is well bro. keep ur head up
hope u dont make it
The armor upgrade right after the +1 attack might have been to fake out Soma in case he wasn't watching the split second it finished upgrading and stopped turning
Wow ur right! To make Soma think plus 1 attack never finished what a baller haha
I think this is true, however I'm also sure that Soma would check by clicking on a zealot. But still Bisu could "gain" a few seconds by this trick.
Every toss main thought about that! , And most probably it help if you see the replay after killing the forge, hydras left before charge is ready... 8:00 ish...
I think that too
Oh I just now see that there were no zealots in vision to click on; then Bisu's trick is even better. Soma checks the units for sure so that trick does not work for players on his level! But it's free to try anyway :D
Too convoluted. Either Bisu expected to save the Forge (almost had speedlots in time) or he is such an automated player that started +1 armor without even thinking and then realized he had to cancel it.

Hey Artosis, I wanted to let you know that your videos are helping me relax, as for the past 5 days I've been severely sick. Thank you
I enjoy them to help me relax too. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
This series was a gem, thank you for casting 👏

So I counted worker count when the DT the two times it went into the mineral line. It got 20~ drones between its two attacks.
the only thing better than artosis casting, is artosis raging. love it!
So many moments of poking the bear this series, trying an attack where the counter comes swift and more effective
Something to know - Soma has one of the best pvz records. For him to lose this best of 9 is super rare.
Yeah I think Bisu really showed why his PvZ is considered one of the strongest out there. Soma definitely didn't go easy on him either, he used every trick in the book from sim cities, lurker egg abuse, drops, etc. Bisu, especially in PvZ, gained a new fan in me!
he probably wasn't going all out as these were practice matches. he was trying new rushes, etc. throughout the series.
Great series Arti and cast!, we had everything macro games with 80 drones, short micro battles, lurker drops, sneaky DT, Air domination, both players deliver best out of the their race 👌💪, I hope you will do more of this.
Omg that Protoss micro in the mid-game with the Dragoons and Zealots was insane. I thought Bisu is going to lose.
Also DT action for extra spice.
On top of everything else he's doing, Bisu was also taking fights so well that game! He's an artist in this matchup
Love the casting Arty! Keep up the good work. I love watching the games on my off days.
Such an awesome BO9. Thank you so much for casting these games for us.
Awesome series once again. Thank you so much for casting them
What a finale ! Thanks for the casts !

Something about DTs and those side storms gets me excited. What a great series!!!! Thanks Artosis for casting the 9 game series brotha!! 👏🙏💯👌

Can someone help me understand why soma is a lot behind on economy in late game while his drone count is similar to bisu’s?
Is it just me or are we missing a game? I only see 8 in the video listing - if so I'm sure you mention it somewhere but I didn't hear.
One has 2 games in it
Bisu never remade the forge. Is that common in this matchup?
I want to see some TvT
Me too!
is it possible that bisu started +1 armor so that soma will think +1 attack didnt finish, unless he checks manually
if it's a series from the ladder it is likely they go even or else the rating difference will be too large to keep getting each other

At this high level of play, you can't really afford spore colonies, too expensive. If you are a chobo like me, yeah sure it is a good idea.
Super expensive
that DT was sooooooooooo beautifully dirty but it hurt my zerg heart alot
