Awesome! Thank you so much, you reminded me of my childhood, as I used to play, pick blackberries in that area. We would walk to and from Ilkeston across those fields and those pylons still remain…..don’t start me on pylons with the new plans! I enjoy and appreciate your work 😘
If the sand was going to the iron works then its more than likely it was being used on the casting floors in the factory complex. Its also used in casting boxes, basically a pattern is pressed into the sand, its tamped tight to give a sharp impression, its then removed and molten iron poured into the mold to make a casting of say a wheel.Once cooled the mold is broken up leaving the casting ready for being cleaned up.
I'm always amazed how much remains you can find. In the US most older things get taken or destroyed. And in the west and deserts there is typically no overgrowth. On January 18 we're doing a hike though remains of the 100 year old Impossible Railway out in the desert mountains east of San Diego. You should pop over and join us!
Another superb video 📹 Gareth...appreciate your passion and all of your hard work in producing these amazing video's.....congratulations...keep on keeping on Brother..Seasons Greetings by the way 😊😊😊
Hayup Gareth it’s a very neatly layed out iron works, the sand used varies with the end product depending on the heat required for the process, silica would be right for wrought iron an also forging, I imagine the train world as with the car world the first fifty years was the super high quality metals the vintage sports car club was created in part as the post fifty years cars lacked the quality metal of the pre war types. Kids seeing things, my eldest son use to see a women standing over him when he was sleeping it was a three ish hundred year old cob cottage, needless to say kept an even closer eye on him and us after them visions, different band of frequencies the sender receiver at that age, is it theta? Reckon seeing trains is best! I was the same but dreaming of the French resistance when I was seven getting folks out through deep ditches alongside very open fields, lot of under water work, later found that to be outside Paris don’t miss them recollections bloomin terrifying. Great walk liking the tunnel Plenty of tripping hazards I’d have stacked it on the lightweight rail straight over the edge. Cheers

Your knowledge levels, mate.
How many of these entrances are entry points to an underground base or air vents for an underground base
I question everything, mate.
The stones in that wall may well have come from the old abbey
Very good point. They may have done.
