I miss Howard, and I couldn't be any happier that Jesse still has that old fire in him. Howard is probably sitting back in his chair, proud that Adam, Joel, and the boys are still making great music. I cried manly tears of joy when I heard this song. I've had too many disappointments in music lately and this really cheered me up.
These are some of the most powerful lyrics that I have ever heard. This makes me feel like I can do anything in the world and nothing can stop me. I would rather die than live my life in fear!
Howard Jones was extremely talented and really made KSE stand out in the genre, so I was pretty sad to see him go. have to say though, I'm extremely impressed with Jesse Leach's performances on both the new singles. his voice sounds really polished and dynamic. stoked for this new album.
This is a outstanding song, the vocals in here, the drums.. the bass.. the guitar chords.. this is a epic song, personally having the orignal singer back is a blessing!
I agree Jesse is KSE. Howard was the best fit when Jesse left but Howard was better in blood has been shed. I think Howard wrote too much about love. There is enough of that in the lame stream. Jesse is better @ writing lyrics.
Jesse got them started, Howard made them HUGE by getting mainstream so more could hear them and attract more fans, Jesse continued their success. They never missed a beat from beginning to now, a testament to the greatness of this band
DAT FUCKING SOLO! Epic Win as always Killswitch Engage. Good to have you back as a vocalist Jesse. Awesome how you made Howard's songs even moar epic as well with those screams.
Also amen to the original comment that's funny. Too many folks put metal in a box that's too small....aside from that I love classic rock, Motown, Simon and Garfunkel, britpop, indie music, rap& hip hop...just depends on how I'm feeling. But yes don't count kse out. They're pretty amazing
So glad to hear Jesse's vocals with KSE again. There's just something about them that draws me in. You can hear raw passion, emotion and soul in everything he does. Can't wait for their UK gigs!
This song is one of the GREATEST recordings of ALL TIME! From the vocals, to the instruments played to perfection, the LYRICS and MEANING of this masterpiece should be the approach of ALL individuals on this Earth! Gratitude KE!!!
But KSE did release alternate versions of My Curse and I think another song so that they were more radio friendly. Basically, they had way less screaming.
+xXDrillethXx What about all that remains. They where amazing & heavy on the first couple albums. Now they are too sold out. I like change even a slow song here & there. What ATR has done is a disgrace.
I saw them this past December in Kansas City and I stood right next to the stage. Jesse is pretty damn great live. I saw videos on youtube where he might not have sounded that great but, videos don't do the voice justice. Going there and seeing him makes you know he is a great damn singer. He even put the mic in my face and I got to rock out a little and sing. It was amazing. Killswitch always puts on the best show. Can't wait to see them tour with these new songs.
i like this album, it is well put together. i would say this is their masterpiece so far. dont get me wrong end of heartache was a great album and so was alive or just breathing, both albums with 2 different singers. i think with the reuniting of jesse leech created a synergy for them to fully express themselves on this album musically. i put it with all my other favorite bands masterpeices
@@TheGMXProductions some people like the soul and melodic voice of Howard over Jesse's cleans, especially since Jesse wasn't good in his cleans in the beginning. He has come a long way though in his comeback
This is what i liked about Killswitch in the early days. The energy is high, choruses catchy and riffs are metal tenfold. KE are back and i like it. Awesome band.
This is the first time a descent amount of people actually likes both singers instead of having a full on argument over youtube about who's better.. It's nice for a change
FINALLY I FOUND A GOOD SONG WITH JESSE'S VOICE! the transition switching tunes when he sings the great awakening sounds like the transition from all in due time. Well done mr Jesse keep doing songs like this with this kind of layout and you will go very far
Welcome back Jesse! Ive seen this band 8 times with Howard right after Jess left...Was really hoping to be able to see Jesse...So much passion and emotion....very excited for the resurgence of this band!
I love them both, but agreed. I have been a fan for a while now, but I just feel Jesse's voice conveys the emotion in the lyrics just a smidgen better. I connect more when he's the vocalist for some reason.
Obrigado KSE!
I'm not saying this to offend you but judging by your youtube name and your profile pic I can make an educated guess that you're into melodic death metal bands like Opeth, Death, Kalmah, and Children of Bodom. Judging by that I'm assuming you like Jesse's vocals from back in Killswitch Engage's early days is because it sounds more like a classical melodic death metal yell.
How is the beginning of the song Take This Oath from the album The End Of Heartache sound anything like pop music? I didn't know that pop singers do a metalcore scream. Makes a lot of sense.
I just read in a metal injection post as to why Howard left the band. Apparently he left because he had mental breakdowns on tour and began to have stagefright. His stagefright was so bad that they had to have Philip Labonte from All That Remains take over Killswitch Engage vocals. Since Killswitch Engage toured with All That Remains a lot, it was no problem. Not only that, but Howard began to have problems with his diabetes. Therefore, he left the band.
This is just an add on to all the comments. We,the original fans of this band were very very excited Jessie came back to the band. That being said, Howard was great and i for one would not mind at all if they used both singers. And I am very glad they are all still good friends. Make it happen Killswitch
To all the people that can't handle that a band has issues and sometimes shit happens it's called life, accept this fact and things will get easier, I almost promise, welcome back Jesse, sick new song guys :)
Im going to see these guys and lamb of god live. More lamb of god then Killswitch. I havent listened to them in awhile and this doesnt change my reason for going.
Everyone talks about Howard vs Jesse, but I don't see a difference in the quality of their sound, or quality of songs they make. They're both fantastic
the more i hear of this album the more i want it right now i cant fucking wait ive heard 3 songs now and there all fucking stunning im so happy for this album
I thought the same thing. Jesse was there when it was heavy, and then Howard came in and it started to get more sappy, but it was still good, just in a different way. Jesse came back and it seems like he is starting to bring it back to where it used to be. After all, as much as I respect and like Howard's vocals, Jesse was their original vocalist and, due to that, partially defined how their sound even started out, leading them to choose Howard over anyone else to try to conserve that sound.
I'm really digging this new shit. I have their other albums now too, but this is just as good. It'll be another one of those groups that hold me over til David, danny and the guys make another Disturbed record.
I hope there are some more melodic songs on this album. Such as those seen from times of grace. Jesse has such a good clean voice too! Yours sincerely, A hardcore KSE fan.
I'm not hearing him there, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was featured somewhere on the album! Remember, Jesse sang on "Take this Oath" on the album after he left the band...
Cool glad to hear it is finally coming in out soon. Been waiting on this since I heard Jesse was back at vocals. This song fucking jams hard. Should be the best album in many years.
I don't think Adam will ever stop coming up with killer riffs and harmonies. That man is a machine.
I remember listening to these guys when they started. Losing Howard was a tragic loss, but they have made an amazing comeback with Jesse.
I miss Howard, and I couldn't be any happier that Jesse still has that old fire in him. Howard is probably sitting back in his chair, proud that Adam, Joel, and the boys are still making great music. This song still takes me back to freshman year. Was still a underrated jam and still is today!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
I was a senior but I feel the vibe. Love KSE....
These are some of the most powerful lyrics that I have ever heard. This makes me feel like I can do anything in the world and nothing can stop me. I would rather die than live my life in fear!
I fucking LOVE Jesse's lyrics!!! There's so much raw and emotion in his lyrics that they give me goosebumps.
these aren't his lyrics
but his lyrics are just straight money
Patrick Sullivan his lyrics are chilling none the less. But whose lyrics are these!
this are his lyrics and adam's, that patrick guy is full of shit
it's like an accumulated pain, that explodes when he sings, totally amazing and brutal.
Howard Jones was extremely talented and really made KSE stand out in the genre, so I was pretty sad to see him go. have to say though, I'm extremely impressed with Jesse Leach's performances on both the new singles. his voice sounds really polished and dynamic. stoked for this new album.

He didn't improve on Howard's anything...
Matticus M
Uh wut? I think the screams sound more aggressive.
Matticus M He was meant to improve on an already talented artist?
.
Nvm, I'm not going to troll or throw the opinion out there I just like listening to the guitar and drums for all metal/rock

Such an underappreciated band and song. Love Killswitch Engage.
This song is sick. I was dismayed when Howard left, but this is pretty killer.
Just Barely Breathing
I'm super pumped to hear the rest of this album. I was never much of a Howard fan so you can imagine how excited I am that Jesse is back.
Glad to see KSE is still making heavy music. Unlike some other bands *cough* ATR *cough* *cough*
Haha, low blow, true as it is...
Indeed, ALL THAT REMAINS had some good records before they fucking sold out...such a shame. :`(
But KSE did release alternate versions of My Curse and I think another song so that they were more radio friendly. Basically, they had way less screaming.
+Justin Walker Even Trivium now are going down the same sell-out route..so sad

Hands down best band around!
Joe Montore one hand up right here. Funny how people like to look at their own opinion as fact. Opinions are just that.
regul8or when did I state a fact?
In metalcore.
Their last album wasn't good in my opinion. I do love Killswitch, tho, but i prefer as i lay dying by far.
as i lay dying shits on every metalcore band, there style is just so unique and all there songs never dissapoint
This is incredible!! Im glad that we get to hear Jesse again! but Killswitch , this is purely amazing! Bring on April :D
Este disco llegó en una época difícil para mi, gracias a él y con toda su energía me dió fuerzas para seguir adelante. Gracias KSE. 🤘

Exactly! It sounds like they were truly inspired to write this one.

Love it.
The lyrics on this song is all about the things I am thinking about day and day out. I believe in the awakening!
It's normal that every time i hear this song, i want to cry?
Yep. It has happened to me with other songs and Idk why it does lol
songs have the ability to drive a person to tears for a number of reasons such as the meaning behind the lyrics, the melody, the power, etc.

Oh believe me, I'm thrilled. I was there when Roadrunner posted KSE's "My Last Serenade" on their page as a free download and that changed my life.
I never thought KSE would make it without Howard but man was I proven wrong
Each to their own I guess. The most important thing is that this album is shaping up to be something great, something we can be proud of as KSE fans.

I mainly like Jesse for the pure aggression he puts into his voice and I feel he makes KSE the fast thrash metal band that they are :)
They kinda are tbh they're kinda thrash metal/metalcore/
***** I hear a good amount Death Metal in there as well, especially on this album.
