I actually quite enjoy the new album. I think they've reached a higher evolution and maturity in their music, and Matt's voice is sounding better than ever.

i think that they were trying to show that there skills can produce much more than just death metal, this album proves that trivium can play alternative metal, and that matt can do more than scear(not that theres anything wrong withs matt's growls lol)

I don't get the criticism of this album. I like old Trivium, but I also like this. Personally I don't want to hear a band just crank out 10 albums that all sound basically the same. I do like the older stuff better, but this isn't bad at all.
Headz are always gonna criticize Trivium cuz of how they evolved from the Ember to Ascendancy to Crusade then Shogun. Personally, Shogun's my favorite but Waves, Vengeance and Silence have their rad points too. The mistake people make these days is expecting a band to out-do their best material when they find out they're in the studio instead of just enjoying what they bring to the table.
dave bc The only objectively disappointing albums they released were The Crusade and Silence in the Snow. VF is a very underrated album, it has the best vocals of Trivium albums minus the 8th and the guitar tone is just out of this world. Also better listening experience than their older albums, it has top quality production.

I have a lot of respect for Trivium, reinventing your music with every album takes some balls. Definitely one of my favorite metal bands.

best song on the album! could be straight off in waves or ascendancy, love the energy of the verse/pre chorus, the epicness of the chorus and that scream leading into the solo just tops it off! the vocal variations in the last chorus make me sing along everytime! great stuff guys

But this song is pretty fucking awesome. If it had a bit more screaming and D standard it could be ascendancy and yh could have been in waves to :P

Yh my bad meant drop D for asdcendancy:P. And i know this is in C# lol. When did i ever mention it not being C#? I just said if it was in Drop D[ascendancy tuning] then it could very well fit on the ascendancy album. And in answer to the screaming question, the new album has fuck all of it and screaming makes the songs more epic in most cases. Can u imagine To the Rats with full screaming :O. Would be an insane track!
Yeah sorry read your comment a bit wrong. But for the screaming, I dunno I like Matt's singing and I prefer it to his screaming. If I want screaming/growling/harsh vocals I prefer the traditional death or black metal style. His best harsh vocals were on the Shogun bonus tracks where he was growling.
And hell yes To The Rats would have been 1000x better with more harsh vocals.
I've listened to Trivium since '04 and they've never disappointed me! True artists.
I love trivium. Old, and new. This album is pretty fucking sick. Not my favorite, but still great. It's better than playing the exact same shit over and over.
And don't forget that there's quite a bit of influence by David Draiman on this album.. and it shows in some songs. (not a bad thing imo)

I really like their new album! Fuck whatever you guys say. I'm Trivium all the way! And they made this album on what they wanted and what they liked, not what the fanbase wanted. I respect them so much!

Coming from someone that listens to many genres of Metal. From MetalCore to Technical Death Metal and Melodic Black Metal, this album (if it sounds like this song) is actually pretty good. If Trivium is able to Reach a Peak of Keeping their sound Epic, Melodic and yet Heavy and Thrashy/Technical then that's the direction I'm hoping they're aiming for which it does already seem that way. As long as they don't lean too much on the lighter side which is how their previous album sounded then great! Just my opinion.
It actually sounds like its a kind of Death Metal and Heavy Metal mix. If they keep up the great work they might be able to compete with Black Sabbath (Now disbanded or trying to look for a guitarist) and Slayer. This will be a long journey with ups and downs and it will get messy. Hope that they hold up until the end.

The way Matt's solo comes in and almost cuts off Cory's is really awesome. Big swell of melody and really catchy. Reminded me of something Mike Amott would do after a Chris solo, like in...Web of Lies, for example. Fantastic song.
Mannn, I like Trivium A LOT. Hard to choose one track that I like the most of Heafy's voice.. but, the sweet tone he puts in this chorus "NO WAY TO HEEEEAL". Simply awesome.

How many of you are artists that can create something like what trivium loved? Sure we may prefer how they build songs earlier, but they do provide us with content, and to many of us excellent content. If these men did not play as such you all would be out of a fix, sure others exist, but damnit they are doing this because they love it, and doubtless love us.

Seen Trivium last week in Toronto Canada and 3rd time seeing them. Simply amazing band in studio and live. Love the new sound and shows their great vocal and lyric writing. I don't mild less steaming and guitars still amazing.
Everyone one who is complaining about his vocals/music obviously have no idea what they're talking about. Trivium continues to grow on every album and you guys continue to listen to them. BANDS NEED TO GROW TO STAY RELEVANT. Sounds great Trivium!!

Yes i downloaded the album and it's fucking amazing. Of course you can't compare it to the others cuz every trivium album has a different sound. That proves that Matt can sing everything and that Trivium will never get boring or mainstream. You obviously dont like this different sound. It's your opinion and i respect it.

I love the cover. It engulfs my imagination. In words i care to say in another time in another place from yesterdays tomorrow. Really paints the message correctly. There is NO MORE MONEY.
I enjoy this album a lot. although nothing will EVER replace the old trivium, I can still appreciate anything they put out because they've always been one of my favorite bands. the way they have evolved from what they were to what they are now also shows what great musicians they are. the way matt transitioned from the way he sings and that he still sounds awesome is just amazing. not to mention everyone else (including nick even though hes fairly new) has gotten better and better just amazes me. yea some of their albums haven't been as good as others, but I cant say ive disliked any of their albums. i guess because ive listened to them since almost day one i cant disrespect their talent like that. im just glad they try to change it up every album and not put out the same shit over and over. they cant please everyone but they've definitely pleased this fan over the years
