Joe. Would dearly love you to do a video on the benefits of a shock leader, even at short range when you don't need one for casting. I notice you Rob and others are using them, as short as a meter you mentioned on one clip. Love the work, those Bream at Northampton were stunning mate! Richard.
Hi Joe what a great video. It’s funny how things go in circles in fishing, twisted power gum links I always loved them for general and short range feeder work. I use an old Drennan IM8 bomb rod for this kind of work and it is superb. I have put a shot instead of a stop knot on the line, hear the click and swing and it’s keeps the line pinned down but I will try your idea.Try out a long whip for this, fitted with a flicktip they are even faster. I have done a video on this for those unbelievers. Bill
Great video Joe! re holding the rod with no rest, is this because you would you miss more bites by putting in a rest and more tension to the feeder? I fish a drain ideally fishing for bream but miss loads of bites from roach on the feeder with a similar set up otherwise
Yes as I don't really strike I need to hold the rod. So every time I get a bite I just move the Feeder a few inches which is enough to set the hook. If the bite is missed I can just relax and wait for another bite.
Stop knot .....spot on.

Joe do you not think an 11ft rod for 15 metres is somewhat excessive would an 8 ft be ok ?
Not at all. It's different to using a method feeder where an 8ft would be fine
Why do you fish a long rig with the feeder?
When your fishing international the feeder link is rule but what about the stop knot in the quiver tip is that alowed?
Hey Joe, I know you mentioned that the rod was a prototype but are you at liberty to say now that it's a year later?
Yea it was an 11ft Supera SL
@@MatchFishingFilms thanks Joe, much appreciated
