As a now 70 yo woman living alone in a modest small home on 12 forested acres I know the deep joy of waking up every day in "paradise". I've spent the last 30 years as a steward to the land and have a great connection to all the creatures I share my homestead with. I never forget that they were here first. We are the lucky ones but not in any kind of entitled or privileged way. Working the land and living simply is down to the bone hard physical work. It's rare not to go to bed exhausted (in a good way). Enjoy getting to know and care for your beautiful homestead. There is no more rewarding work than carving out a simple life of independence and self reliance in harmony with Nature. I look fwd to following the journey Max. ❤

The cabin IS basic and rustic. It was meant to be non invasive. Plus, it gives you a blank slate to start. Furniture is easy to get. Take it slow. Those trees are just amazing.

I have a big long hair German shepherd I have spent hundreds of dollars on all different beds for him but he just refuses to use them he hates him, he is 8 years old. would I prefer him to sleep on them of course I would but he just won’t been that way since he was a pup! it’s just the way he is and I say Ocy is the same.
How about a mesh base? The hot air can circulate around him?

I have an Aussie Shepherd and he has lots of fluffy beds, including mine and he always chooses to sleep on the bare floor. 🤣🤣🇦🇺

I returned to listen to Max recording the grief after Lee died. He speaks so truly about depression but sometimes pharmceutical medication is not always the best route. I was given it at aged 20... fought it off when I realised my mother in law had been on that and was attending the mental institution as was the wife of their friend and I was fine... just very active and fast moving, studyibg ard, working hard, unable to travel or enjoy life as there was never enough money from week to week.... Then in the 40s I was put on all sorts of meds for anxiety, depression, M.E. when counselling and better counselling and me listening to my own self or the truths of life would have been more appropriate but I had a lot to learn about emotional developments and expression... so it was very validating to hear Max speak and I applaud how much progress he has made in these last two years... Something was missing for Lee... Her family and friends may have the key or the answer but it is such a waste and a pity that the beautiful woman with Max and Occy took her own life. I was sad and shocked two years ago and the special ness of the great celebration from the van life and adventure community that I think I found during in 2020...... because it put a stop to me going in the Kangoo van I had just acquired but I escaped as soon as restrictions in France allowed and then we were locked down again! Those years caused many of us to reframe our lives. Its really good Max that you have found a stunning environment to make progress in your life and love it whilst Occy is with you. sorry this is a bit personal but wanted to commend you. and Lee ... who lives within you still.......... Blessings.

I love Australia, but I really loved Byron Bay. I haven't been to Byron Shire since 1999, which is way too long.
You know what, every single one of us is completely mistified about the buying process until we have our first home-buying experience. Like every milestone in life, from rolling over onto our tummies as infants to saying our first words, to crawling, walking, running, riding a bike, our first...and last...day of school. Life is mostly one learning process after another, from birth to death. Buying a home is just another one of those many, many human milestones that move you forward into true adulthood.
How cute...Occy enjoys a nice, spacious, roll on his back, as if he knows this is his new home, with plenty of space to roll, scratch, and roam. He was making certain his new territory smelled just like him! lol It was very clear he was vigorously protesting being sequestered in the new house, and you were preventing him from his supervisory role. lol
Congratulations on the fulfillment of making an old dream a current reality! It's a truly beautiful piece of land that the previous owner should be very, very proud to have created and maintained it all so well. Now, it's all yours! May you enjoy many peaceful days there.

Earlier this year, Bandit and I purchased our first home as well. 🏡 It is absolutely surreal and months later still feel a lot of disbelief and a heart full of gratitude. It is a wonderful thing to have a place to call your own. 5 acres is going to be A LOT of work (I'm on 1/5 acre and it's actually nuts how much time and work clean up of overgrowth and gardening takes). To Max (And Occy) I can't describe how immensely happy I am for you and how your life has changed. I have followed you for over 3 years( Binged watched all videos though from before). I know the struggles of depression having lived with it for over 30 years and no less than 10 suicide attempts sad to say. How heart broken I was to hear and learn of your break up with Lee and her final goodbye to end that pain that is "our" lives. I can't help but wonder if this little piece of paradise might have been maybe one thing that would have changed that path.
Yet I know you have struggled on to get to the point that is now this chapter. I am more interested in your world of moving forward, not Van life videos...plenty of them on the "tubes". I follow Trent & Allie and they have moved on from Van life as well to a new wonderful world, You tubers such as TREAD the Globe, have my fill of that life style. I enjoy videos from the sailing side too doing it "Boat Life" and follow those who I feel I connect with too and their content.
I now live life through all of my RUclips "families" having none of my own. I have traveled the world myself, speak 5 languages and retired at 48 (now 59). I am stable in life (Still not mind though), have good income and can do what I want mostly. I wish you the best and prosperity from this new life and always remember the thousands you have helped, sharing your life. Occy is your blessing and he is so much a true mate. You guys are absolutely the best. Enjoy each and all your videos, much happiness your way...now back to see you move in to your new forever home!!!

I, too, know the struggles of depression, having lived with it my entire adult life. (I am 68) Though I never attempted to take my life, I have been to the precipice of not wanting to be in this world any longer and have been hospitalized a few times over the years. After decades of meds I became treatment resistant to them but luckily my present therapist recommended TMS(transcranial magnetic stimulation). I've had 3 rounds, the results of the first two each lasted about 6 months and the third round's results are still working after a year and a half. It literally saved my life at one point; not sure where I would be without it. I didn't start watching Max and Occy until after Lee's passing. I think I found them through Trent and Allie. He really touches my heart. I sincerely hope you are able to find peace in your life. Take care and nurture yourself.

Max, I am so, so, so very excited watching you and Occy start your newest adventure in home ownership. I remember my very first home over 40 years ago now, a tiny little 2 bedder in Sydney. I was so thrilled and excited to actually own my own home. I now live on the beautiful Gold Coast, so you’re not so far away. I can just imagine the excitement and anticipation you’re both feeling right now. Occy looks like he’s right at home, I loved seeing him rolling on his back, grinning from ear to ear. I had tears in my eyes the whole way through the video, but when you got out of the van when you arrived “home” I couldn’t stop them from falling.
