Such a brilliant pianist and so modest, love her videos, thank you for all your hard work, who knows we might see you in Manchester UK fingers crossed !
Sipping my coffee, wearing my scrubs and eating a granola bar. Worked ten hours yesterday and the day before, another ten hour shift today and tomorrow. This performance is a lovely interlude in the midst of this week. Keep being you, all. Thank you for continuing to perform for us.
I love this girl in every way. Especially how fierce and crystal clear she plays each note compared with the other pianists playing the same composition. And how she reluctantly chooses the hardest pieces without a doubt in her mind. Her fingers are like bullets coming out of a machine gun. Relentless and unstoppable! Way to go Valentina!
this is played as it should be and as Beethoven wrote it to sound. so many emotions in every key played. Amazing job to you Valentina, you are a gift to us all.
You conjure up the vision of how Beethoven might have improvised this in a live concert and then written it down from memory - incredible! Beethoven must have been not only one of the greatest composers, but also one of the greatest pianists who ever lived!
With all the turmoil and uncertainty in the world the last few months, it's simply lovely to close my eyes and listen to such beautiful music and forget everything for a while
Everyone praises the sonata op.27 n. 2. But I like this first sonata. I've always wondered why, but I still haven't found the reason. I like it infinitely. Delicacy, strength, genius... thanks Ludwig. And thanks to this Valentina who plays it the way I like it.
Oh Valy ,, You can never stop being magnificent as you always used to be,, What an admirable person you really are Val ... God bless you dear, and saves you always from whatever malicious that could be, and keeps you sound, healthy, sweet, and happy, as you make us happy... Thank you.
Wow! Goose bumps. How can old music sound new again? Beethoven and Valentina slways make a compelling argument. Thank you very much for providing this proof in your Sonata endeavor. It is actually my focus of anticipation now. I am awe struct by the intuitively gutsy, and lyrically virtuosic interpretation, on such a beautifully prepared (at least in terms of audible parameters.. i.e. tuning, voicing, damping, sustain, etc..) instrument. What a timeless and heroic production of this body of masterpieces. Thank you to everyone that is contributing to VL focused energy.
Valentina is my favorite pianist. Her playing is so nonchalante, it is an utmost pleasure to listen to her play. She plays so beautiful, and dare I say she is so pretty :) She is a discovery for me, I've been waiting to hear her my entire life. All the best !

The speed police were full of complacency in the first movement but when Valentina took off she was out of sight and long gone before they could issue a ticket. A wonderful performance.
I was really waiting for this Sonata (but I'm excited for the next one, too😁). Your interpretation is superlative! Thank you for these moments, you really help me in this very dramatic period❤ Kisses from Naples, thank you again😘
My first time watching this now, and I just had to piss myself laughing. It was so ridiculous in terms of how awesome 6:32 was. Even Barenboim doesn't play it like that and he is the master of Beethoven!!
I so enjoy listening to your music Val. Its an escape for for us. Do take of yourself and your family out there during this pandemic. Love you lots Val.
Opus 27 no 1 has long been overshadowed by its more famous 'Moonlight' partner which is a shame. It's an equally great work. The last movement, especially, is an absolute joy. And I most humbly thank Valentina for acknowledging my previous comment. God bless.
big time. Try listening with compilation footage of this insane year (2020)...it speaks powerfully, as if Beethoven saw this catastrophe from his grave...
Saw you play at the School near Bath a few weeks ago. Unforgettable evening. Just before the world changed. Thought that you were going to break the piano that night...
Chère Valentina, merci infiniment de partager tous ces moments uniques avec nous. Il ne nous manque que l'émotion d'une salle de concert. Vivement votre prochain récital au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées...
Curious how many times Valentina needs to practice before she can play without music? I know she has photographic memory, but she's not an android....is she? Data?
J C This reminds of Chef Gordon Ramsey when one time he said that he has over 3,000 recipes perfectly recorded in his head. That was years ago. He has probably added another thousand by now.
Not to take away anything from her innate abilities, but I want to point out that playing music is a *physical* activity, and constant practice creates a *muscle memory* as well, so some of it is unconscious.
Among the 4 movements I prefer "l'adagio con espressione", even if interpreted by the sublime Valentina make the choice difficult. Si preferisco l'adagio con espressione mia dolce Valentina💖♥️💞💕🎼🎼🌹🌹🌹😘😘😘😘😘
0:00 - I. Andante - Allegro - Andante
5:25 - II. Allegro molto e vivace
6:58 - III. Adagio con espressione
9:40 - IV. Allegro vivace
Thank you!!!
Thank you
Imagine getting this for free for all the people that live too far from any meaningful concert towns.
THANK YOU!

Again the most passionate and emotionally moving rendition of Beethoven one could have ever had the pleasure of hearing.

Indeed! She is the greatest player on the planet. Huge hands for maximum facility and, quite appropriately, Like a Fantasy as the title states
You conjure up the vision of how Beethoven might have improvised this in a live concert and then written it down from memory - incredible! Beethoven must have been not only one of the greatest composers, but also one of the greatest pianists who ever lived!
Valentina Lisitsa: my all time favorite pianist!
Me too!
The sonata is "Quasi una Fantasia" and the great pianist Valentina is a real Fantasía. Thank you lovely Valentina. Always perfection!!!
I love the way she enjoys playing Beethoven. I wish I could love my job that much.
lol stay strong mate
You can't play beethoven unless you feel it as she does
The last movement, I have tears in my eyes, it’s so unbelievably beautiful!
A fabulous work unfairly over-shadowed by its sister "The Moonlight"... That second movement is wild and unlike any other in Beethoven's sonata canon.
perfect for these times Daniel. I have had that movement in my head since house arrest began...
To be fair, each of Beethoven's works tend to be unlike any other Beethoven work.
The moonlight is possibly more palatable to the crowd that do not frequent listening to classical.

I'm sure it's an endless amount of practice, but yes, when you're gifted as she is certain things come easier - i.e. memorizing songs.
She probably knows a lot those pieces already. She once told in an interview, she has over 600 pieces in her head.
